Thanks to my mom and Christmas my sci-fi paperback novel collection has grown in size! I am now the proud new owner of the following:

The bookshelf image also includes another interesting book I picked up recently. The premise seems fascinating so I just had to buy it.

I also recently picked up Firstborn by Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter, which is the grand conclusion to the Space & Time Odyssey trilogies. I think anyway. I am reading it next to see how it all wraps up

New Pompeii is perfect for a friend of mine. Now I know what to get for their birthday this year. Thanks! :D

My mom couldn't find stuff on my wishlist in mass paperback form (which makes sense) so we worked out a deal where she gave me a gift card to a bookstore instead. I spent an hour and a half going through books (which I really enjoy) and those were my selections.

That particular author I've never heard of (of New Pompeii) , but the story sounds so interesting. I really want to read it, it might have to be the book I read after I finish Firstborn

I recognize New Earth and The Martian Chronicles.

I'm sorry, I just want to quickly add my thought was always that the feminine version of "guy" is "gal".

MI'm being specifically called out now, though.
I'm really so terribly sorry if I upset you, I really didn't mean to do so, I tried to specifically say I wasn't bothered by what you said, mostly just by how people were treating Valka. I'm really sorry this whole thing happened, I just wanted to apologize, I'm not going to go on any more, please do forgive me.

My rave for today is about therapy, I had my second session, and I still love my doctor. She confirmed my diagnosis, and she had a lot to talk to me about, and I feel these sessions are really going to help me grow and be happier with my life.

I was in the pub a few weeks ago with some people from work, the women who was buying the drinks turned to her female friends and asked "what do you guys want to drink" then she said "what do you want Silurian". Should I be offended that she does not consider me a guy, does she think I am not a man, or does she mean her friends when referring to "you guys".

I just find it weird that she calls you Silurian.

Fully caught up on grading and there's still a few weeks left in the quarter!

I feel like a god.
As a fellow classicist I hope you understand that, until and unless you specify which god it is, I am not sure that that is a good thing.

The people in the Rants thread are clamouring for pictures of me even though I have one accompanying every post, Silurian. Beware of them.

Disgustingly enough, I have good things to say about Linux. Turnkey really made my life easier tonight.
