I've started taking on new duties at work for that role my boss offered me, and she spoke to me about how she's getting ready to post a requisition for my old role and she wants me to start transferring off my old duties. I haven't had anything official about my promotion, but I'm taking these as very good signs, I might just be sort of "soft" moved into my new role without a formal process, which is perfectly fine for me :)

Make a lemonade with it. :D
I can't have lemonade, due to acid issues - haven't had it in decades.

What's irritating in the fruit juice aisle at the local Walmart is how there's a mile of orange juice, half a mile of lemonade, and how the other stuff is hidden away. Doesn't anyone drink apple juice anymore?

I eventually did find the apple juice and when I saw the watermelon, I decided to try it. I'm definitely going back for more.

Nice, I'm glad I picked it up! I like the way Baxter writes, but I could not make it through "Evolution". No dialogue and it moved sooo slow. I moved on to other authors after I tried reading it a couple times and failed. Loved the Time Ships tho

A novel with no dialogue? Or just a different format?

It's this novel.

There is probably dialogue later, but at first it deals with creatures that did not talk to each other
I have that in my collection; haven't read it yet.

I just wondered if it was a different format of dialogue, such as Margaret Atwood's style, or Alan Paton (ie. in Cry, the Beloved Country).

I find Baxter's books are a bit hit and miss - some are great, others are a bit meh! I've not read Timeships or Evolution so cant comment on these.

Returning to Athens. Hopefully good things will happen soon :)
I do hope you enjoy your trip more this time, I've seen you post so many times how miserable you are visiting Athens. Good luck with your work there!

I've very happy with a new lip shade I'm trying .. "Mesmerizing Magenta". I got a compliment this morning during a video call for work!

 I don't understand how you're surprised at getting compliments if you're that photogenic, Mary.

Every moment of your trip to Athens brings you closer to the time when you will be leaving Athens.

Hrumph...at first I didn't like it. I'm a traditionalist who likes red and pink. Magenta is not in my wheelhouse.
...but then I resized how effectively it offsets the color of your eyes. It's really quite becoming. :goodjob:

I have a date tonight!

This is "Ruby for Me"

Thank you both kindly for your nice words :queen:

Another rave is I'm down six pounds now, and I feel like it's all come off my face, lol. My chin and cheeks are looking more like I remember, I'm not dreading looking in my mirror (as much!) right now.

I like how I look in this angle with this filter:

Mesmerizing Magenta in my opinion is better

Yes, the reds look good on you but the magenta is better.
About these two newer pics, I think there's a lighting problem in the second one, and/or you put some sort of cream or something to really whiten your face. The lighting in the first one looks more realistic. (edit: to clarify, yes, I know you posted about using a filter, but this is the impression I got when looking at it)
Although the second one might be a more realistic representation of how you look under intense lighting, e.g. in your upcoming wedding.

i knew we could bring back the babes thread!

Oh dear, I'm so terribly sorry, I rather liked my "Deep" filter, it makes my pictures come out like you see there. I thought I sort of liked how it made my skin appear ivory in color. Here's an unfiltered version:

This afternoon I made some oatmeal cookies for a friend of mine at another forum, I feel they turned out okay, I hope he likes them. I'll mail them to him tomorrow (these below are a plate of leftovers, I had like about 40 of them and they won't all fit in my container I picked up for him).
