Unlike other boxes with chocolate, it seems the box for After Eight is carefully design to actually have one or more thins still in the box when you think there are no more left.

The real question is why would anyone need more than one before just throwing out the rest of them.

I don't know, this was back when we were children. I occasionally had a choice between all awful mint or slightly-less-awful fake strawberry. I like strawberries (even with yoghurt) so it's clearly mint that has a problem.
