Not to mention KC and the Yanks are both gonna be cleanin' out their lockers. A fact my ungrateful Red Sox (spelled wrong) fan Facebook friends are rubbing in my face.

Royals - Yanks ALCS 2014. Woo-hoo!

The Yankees playing in the ALCS next year seems even less likely than the Royals, although the exact likelyhood probably depends on who they find to replace some of their departing players, whether Cano stays or not, and the length of A-Rod's suspension.

Besides, the Yankees made the playoffs in 17 out of 18 years, so the one year they don't, we feel totally justified in rubbing it in your face. :p

I'm at least pleased that it looks like the Pirates will get into the playoffs.
I never thought I'd get to say that before I graduated high school

Awesome Verarde Radio! Earn cash from alums, get brownie points... ain't college great!
Earn cash from alums? That's so… Vatican!
Sorry, 2014 has already been allocated as year of Linux.
Thanks to Microsoft pulling the plug on Windows XP (the best system ever), Linux shall be installed.
2014, YEAR OF THE ROYALS!!! Yeah baby, yeah! Hope springs eternal!
What makes you say that?
'cos he still thinks the US is king of the hill.
Sports rivalries! America at its best! Spell socks right next time.
We laugh at your 'sports' 'rivalries' in the free world.

You finally admit that 'America' is a continent!

Funny enough, I was going to post a rave about the Yanks getting knocked out this year :p
Back t' th' South end with ya, ya baa-stid....
Learn to spell. S-O-C-K-S.

I'll accept the misspelling of my hometown team's name if it means a complete reversal this season from the abomination that was the 2012 baseball season :p

Well, ya. The curse of the Bambino is lifted.

That gave me some pause, for a moment. I fancy CH means the place where he sees his GP, rather than an actual operating room, or intervention. Still, I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

2 British a place where a doctor, dentist, or other medical practitioner treats or advises patients.

[in singular] a period of time during which patients may visit a doctor, dentist, or other medical practitioner for treatment or advice:
Doctor Bailey had finished his evening surgery

Oh I see. We only use the word 'surgery' to mean 'operation' here AFAIK.

The other usage clears up some grammatical confusion on my part, I had trouble parsing 'at the Doctor's surgery' but now it makes perfect sense.

Yes, I meant it as the place where you are waiting to see you General Practitioner, not an actual surgery. But I think they do minor procedures there. At a different location of the same practice, I had some moles taken out to have checked just in case, there were no problems.
Imagine watching TV during an operation. The different usage of language even thought we speak the same language is quite profound. I must remember the majority of users here are American and must try to cater for that.

I'd actually prefer it if you didn't try and cater to us. I enjoy learning new things. :)
