Koalas must have the nicest breath in the animal kingdom.

Makes up for the chlamydia, eh?

And they're notoriously bad-tempered lazy little critters with a habit of falling dead out of trees for no discernible reason.

A bit like people, tbh.

Some filksongs were written about computers, some about publishing, some about fandom itself ("GAFIATE" is an example of this), and I daresay I could probably write one about this forum.
That could be your NaNoWriMo challenge…
Mouth wash is just boneless toothpaste.

Koalas have chlamydia?
I wonder how Arakhor found out. Personal experience? A quite compromising wiki-walk?

I never been to Australia, but I know all sorts of useless stuff like that.

Are you a breeder of drop-bears on the downlow?

The only I'm likely to breed any time soon is something nasty in my dirty sock pile.

Somehow I doubt I could pull off a 10,000-word song about CFC, even if I do have 12 years' worth of things to say. And I could never post it here anyway.

(well, maybe the abridged version)

Yeah, Vincour, that's just a really rude thing to say about a fellow Iron Pen competitor. :nono:

Would it be possible to build a car from scratch.

Not completely, per say, but to buy existing parts to mix and match.

Yeah.
I mean, modern cars might be a bit of a problem as they don't really have a separate chassis, rather everything is sort of molded around the body.
Car companies mix and match parts all the time.

Depends on how you define "from scratch," but as long as you are just talking about final assembly there's no real problem. There's a reason they are called "parts."

Could you do this to make a car just as good as any car on the road? Or perhaps even better? Or would it always be 'ghetto'?

For clarification, I'm not talking about a 'car kit', where you get a bunch of preassembled stuff and put it together. I mean mixing and matching different parts by different companies/people to make a car, similar to how people custom build computers.

In theory, yes, but you need a lot of space and special tools and equipment which most people don't have. Also, you need a lot of skill.

Welllllll...I would want to use the drive train out of a single model. There is no point at all in trying to mate cylinder heads onto a block they weren't made for. Adapting a transmission to another brand engine is doable if you have skills at cutting and welding, but is more trouble than it's worth.

I also don't see any advantage in trying to fit body panels together that weren't made to go together. I stuck a Plymouth fender from a pick a part yard on a same model Dodge I had once. It bolted up with no problems, but if you looked close the corners were not the same as the fender on the other side.

That said, if you wanted to...say...shove the drive line from a Mustang into a Prius just to freak out the neighbors that could probably be done with some serious hard work. In many states you would be hard pressed to get the DMV to buy off on it though.

Ah... so my dreams of making a truly custom made car have been shattered. Not unless there are professionals willing to do it for you? I'd imagine such a thing would be incredibly expensive, of course (if it even exists).

If you were looking to, I dunno, bend your own body panels out of sheet steel or something, yeah, ain't happening. Casting your own engine block is probably off the table as well. But I think the "Mustang in Prius clothing" idea has merit. Wouldn't that be "truly custom" enough?

No. While the Batmobile is obviously a ridiculous fantasy, I was thinking of a custom made a car that could be sweet... like I said like you can custom make a computer.

But apparently, the analogy simply doesn't work. I accept defeat and am ready to move on. I'll buy a nice, safe family car like a Honda Civic and attach automated machine guns and flame throwers to the top.
