That must have sucked! I think at 12 I was sitting in Elwynn, roleplaying with my mighty-fast 1k connection.

youth of today...don't know they're born!! ;)
trying to work it out - first desktop would have been when I was 16, with it's 40MB hard drive - dial up was still some way down the line for most people then #feelingold

I was about to write something about feeling old, but now I feel younger again. My first PC had a 4 GB hard drive but we only got internet a few years later and that was already a 56k connection.

When I was 12 I wasn't even aware of the internet and I was playing Secret of Mana on my still new SNES.

My brothers used to be envious of my cousin's 386 with it's massive 30mb HD! You could fit so many games on it. All we had at the time was an 8086 Tandy 1000, i can't remember how big it's HD was, probably like 10MB.

When I was 12, I was still using a BBC Micro (at school only).

Man, I love urban dictionary.

Just lots of random uncontrolle stuff, what do you expect ^^?

I don't know anymore which thread that was, but there was some exchange about the connection of not sleeping well and not seeing sharp. Internally I was totally o_O , but today that happened the first time to me too. I wonder if there's a connection ^^.

Unrelated, I only realized today how bizarre the situation on Saturday was, when we were standing in the queue at the supermarket in the middle of Amsterdam (close to the Gay Pride), and a random guy in front of us chatted us up to sell us drugs. I guess that only happens in Amsterdam o_O.

So I logged into my old Youtube account that I had stopped using around ~5 years ago, and it's freaking hilarious to go back in time and look at all the cringy videos that I "like"d back then. Annoying Orange, Pokemon Skits, Atheist videos... surprisingly, they're still entertaining. People say you get more mature when you get older, but I'm, like, 15 now and nothing has changed compared to when I was 10!
I really wonder what you would say about the posts we used to make here when we were your age, whatever your real age is.
Dangit! When i was 10-12, i had to use my moms computer and access the internet through a 33.6k dial up modem. And i could only do that if my brother wasn't on the internet with his computer that had a blazingly fast 56k modem. Didn't get cable internet until i was like 13-14.
Woah, we're on the same age bracket, Erika. :high5:

My parent finally upgraded from the 8086 Tandy 1000 SL/2 to a pentium 100 around 1995.... Meanwhile, the first computer i had all to myself was a 286 with a fried HD that i found on the side of the road, i had to make a boot disk for it and i played many games of scorched earth on it until i tried to move it to a different case and forgot to write down which wires went where on the mainboard before i pulled it all apart...:cringe:

The first computer that I owned was a a Celeron-400 with 64 Mb of RAM, 1 MB of on-board graphics, a 6.4 Gb hard drive and a 40?-speed CD-ROM.

Gawd you guys. My first computer was a Commodore 64. I didn't get a PC until I was 20, and the internet was unheard of back then. :p

I had a really weird dream just now. Sat at the table with my mother, asked why my father isn't going to work today, and she said that he's ill. So next scene (not sure if there was a "transition", I don't remember such a thing) is my standing in front of the bed of my father who clearly is a corpse, and has been a years the way he looks. Next thing I know is that my mother... does something to the corpse, washes it or whatever she does, and I'm like: "Mom, he's dead, don't you realize?" and she pretends not to notice. So I grab her shoulder to ensure to here that he's dead, and in the next moment, the corpse grabs my arm and stares at me with a hatred that made me jump up in my bed and unable to go back to sleep again.

Now I'm wondering whether that dream means anything. Zombies always give me irrational scares, but I did... uhh... "stop having contact with my father" last year, not because I don't want to have contact with him, but because I was sick of the one-sided relationship of calling him, asking a few question and then not really getting anything in return. I think it was the right decision, and I certainly don't consciously feel any "guilt", but it almost makes me think that subconsciously I'm not at all happy with that decision.

Or maybe I just hate zombies. #MidnightPsychology

I've had my own computer as far back as I can remember. My dad would just take whatever the company was throwing out and give them to me and my sister.
I do remember using Netscape on a dialup connection. Took over a minute to load a picture.

I went to sleep at 10pm local time (Germany - it's 3am now). :/

My parents had an Acorn Atom long before the Tandy, they usually came with 2kb ram, less than half of what the Vic-20 had.....

That's not a pc, that's a keyboard.

Nah, that's the whole PC. You were supposed to plug it to a TV screen.

But that thing doesn't even have an @ key. What if I want to surf the internet on that machine? Am I able to plug in a proper keyboard, or am I stuck with that silly-looking keypad?

There's an @ key just to the right from the P key.
