Earthquake! About an hour ago, a 1 on the shaking intensity scale here in Japan (on a scale 0-7.) Maximum 4 in the epicenter in Kyoto, which is where stuff shakes around the room; I remember the earthquake in Osaka a few years ago and at 4 that was the strongest one I’d felt yet.

My bed shook slightly and it felt like either someone was banging heavy furniture around in my building or a really strong gust of wind had passed between my building and the next.

I wasn’t sure initially if it was one since my phone never went off.

How can you be sure we are not?

Assuming that you're making mashed potatoes, peeling potatoes is for chumps.

I just made amazing mashed potatoes and I did not do any peeling. They are perfect. I don't know why I ever wasted my time peeling them in the past

They never show the Polish planet on Star Trek for some reason
Spock... what is, that planet, covered in... steam?

That is Polonia-5, Captain. The steam that you see comes from burning a carbon rock called “coal,” used to generate electric power.

Let us—go—and see—this new world.

Captain, I advise that we visit on another day. It’s Sunday in their calendar and they’re all at Mass.

I like how I got 150 likes for the animation, and still -1 when I posted that people can check my profile for more info :p

Can't imagine what CFC would be like with downvoting!

Its nice to just have likes.

I got invited to give a webinar about one of my published manuscripts, from the publisher himself, since it's still one of the most read papers they have in the last 2 years. Apparently they also normally have a pretty big audience during the webinars (~300 people).
Normally that'd be a rave, but this manuscript is about some sort of quality assurance, so now I'll have to think about how to make this somewhat interesting .

If that many people read the paper they must think it is of interest. Well done!:hatsoff:
