    Egyptian and Aztec units retreated from Sumer when there was no way through. They would rather trek around the large inland sea than attack our fortified position. To that end, we should keep the blockade up.

    Workers: Add one native and one foreign worker to the large stack clearing damage to complete the task a turn sooner and without wasting worker turns. (14+17+17=48)

    Great progress. :goodjob:

    I am thinking we should start to be prepared for our own research and inititate some infrstructure builds. Our core should be able to build some markets and libraries.

    Yeah I was wondering what to do with all those towns building trebuchets. I changed them to Barracks, but that was a filler build.

    Ya great job - we are doing well. I definitely like the Pikemen in the mountain to force the units to come through the gap on clear terrain.

    Agree with ThERat. This is an excellent time to build infrastructure - libraries and markets. We have a short front and have sufficient units. I think I would make the major cities get Libraries and Markets, and get Aqueducts in any city that doesn't yet have one.

    Inherited turn: Looks good, swap some of the barracks and unit builds to libraries in anticipation of TGL becoming obsolete, hey we are scientific, that makes life a bit easier. I suspect we might need some courthouses soon as well. I left the former German lands on units, when they have been improved then we can get some infrastructure in there.

    We are currently 27 units over our support limit, average to Egypt and Mongolia and stron vs everyone else.

    We are going to want the FP soon, anyone have a good idea where?

    The Russians have managed to get a city into the Jungle near the dyes, how did they get it all the way round there?

    IBT:

    Lots of units wander round. The Aztecs drop a spearman off the galley between Izit and Zabalam both in reach and undefended :cry:
    Mongol Longbow appears from Tsetserleg
    Erech Library -> Aqueduct

    1) 360AD
    Bombard and kill longbow with army [1-0]
    Bombard Russian spears near Agade and Aztec archer near Sumer
    Kill both spears but there is not a spare attacker in Sumer to kill the archer so kill him with an EW [4-0].
    Kill 2 Mongol archers near Orenburg [6-0]
    Take a unit each from Kish and Berlin to cover the invasion
    Complete the pike wall on the mountains near Agade. The only route through is past the armies near Orenburg :D

    IBT:
    Longbow attacks fortified pike on mountain [7-0]
    Ur Library -> MDI
    Lagash Library -> Barracks

    2) 370AD
    Bombard and kill Russian horse at Agade [8-0]
    Kill retreating Arab units near Orenburg [11-0]
    Kill landed spear, but it takes an MDI with it [12-1]
    Army kills 2 spears in Tsetserberg but is badly injured, cover with sword. Longbow now on top.
    Found Kutha, start walls

    IBT:
    Mongol MDI's attack pike wall and promite our pike to elite [14-1]
    Sumer Library -> MDI
    Kish Library -> MDI
    Agade Library -> MDI
    Akshak Barracks -> Settler

    3) 380AD

    There are now no units near Agade and with a bit of luck there ill never be, start to move the siege units to Orenburg.
    New spear in Tse, retreat army for healing
    Kill 2 Arab units near Orenburg [16-1]

    IBT:
    Army takes a pot shot at a passing MDI

    4) 390AD
    Siege goes 5 from 6 at Orenburg and 4 from 4 at Sumer.
    Kill two Mongol MDI at Orenburg [16-1]
    Kill Mongol Longbow at Kuara [17-1]

    IBT:
    The Mongols and Arabs are fighting :band:, most of the units I was waiting to kill died without me having to lift a finger :lol:
    Theology pops out of TGL
    Ur MDI -> MDI
    Isin Treb -> Settler

    5) 400AD
    Siege goes 4 from 4 at Orenburg and 2 from 3 at Sumer before running out of targets.
    Kill Russian archer at Sumer [18-1]
    Kill Mongol and Arab MDI at Orenburg [20-1]

    IBT:
    Lagash Barracks -> Horseman
    Cultural borders expand at Sumer, that will make life fun for the Aztecs that like to attack from that direction.

    6) 410AD
    This is no good, I am running out of units to kill. Kill Russian LB as the only unit I can hit safely
    As there is a pause I advance on the Russian city of Novgrod

    IBT:
    Sumer MDI -> Marketplace
    Kish MDI -> MDI
    Agade MDI -> Courthouse
    Erech Aqueduct -> Baracks

    7) 420AD
    In a nice peice of timing Tsetserleg grows to size 2 the same turn as they move a LB out of the city and I am ready to attack :), Sword Army kills 2 spears and the city is ours. Not sure where it came from but I decide to keep the city, I don't think it will go back, start some walls [22-1]
    Attempt to kill the LB that left Tse, but it kills our sword :( [22-2]

    IBT:
    LB attacks Kuara [23-2]
    Ur MDI -> Marketplace
    Bad-tibria Library -> Aqueduct
    Akshak Settler -> MDI

    8) 430AD
    Seige goes 6 from 9 at Orenburg before running out of targets
    Kill 3 horses at Orenburg [26-2]
    The Mongols have Gunpowder, no one else has it yet

    IBT:
    Interesting, all the Aztec archers which were aiming for Sumer (as they have been doing for centuaries) disappear into the fog, I wonder where they are off to.
    Hamburg Pike -> Pike
    Lagash Horse -> Horse
    Umma Library -> MDI

    9) 440AD
    Siege of Novgorod - cats and trebs go 1 from 6
    MDI army kills 2 spears and the damaged on is now on top, this is killed by MDI [29-2] LB on top, how I wish I had another attacker :)
    MDI army kills LB [30-2]

    IBT:
    Nothing of interest

    10) 450AD
    Siege of Novgorod cats and trebs go 6 for 6
    MDI army kills horse and LB and we burn Novgorod [32-2]. We aquire 3 slaves.
    MDI loses to Russian LB on open ground [32-3]. Didn't even scratch it.
    MDI army kills Egyptian sword [33-3]

    Notes:
    There are 2 Aztec galleys near Isin, as far as I am aware they haven't dropped anything off yet, the last landing was on the ruins next to Isin. I have left some units with movement so you can decide where to put the defence.

    The only land unit in our borders is the Russian archer that killed out MDI. I had marched that MDI all the way through the jungles from Agade and the first thing it did was to die :cry: Also there is a settler on its way, building near one or both of the cows might be nice but I had come to no firm conclusion where it should go.

    The Aztecs had been sending archers against Sumer all my turn set, then they all turned round and disappeared.

    Looks good.

    I think we may need a few more units in coastal towns farther away. A bigger landing could lose us more than one town.

    Better roads far south might help too. Looks like we are going to want extra workers this game.

    Well, there are 3 new ones waiting under an army to the north :). I agree we need more units down there and I did send a few, however with the infra builds I didn't have too many to spare, I am have gone a bit overboard with the infra builds. I was also going to send the sword army in that direction.

    To be honest I wasn't sure what to do with those towns, which is why the worker force is clearing jungle further north. If there was some water then we could irrigate the grassland and mine the hills.

    No knights. Nobody has Chivalry yet

    Pre-Turn
    We employ to many clowns and run 30% lux. there are too many empty cities, that's the cause
    I will change that during my set for sure
    I don't like the tight spacing in the west, there is no need for CxC in my mind. Kua will go via settlers/workers

    I don't know what is happening but we have too thin a defense and our units are occupying mountains
    Move 2 pikes back and one to spy on enemy land

    IT win against one LB in the jungle

    1. 460AD
    defeat a mace and move army forward

    2. 470AD
    the land is really horrible...well, we got to deal with that
    get Moscow in sight

    IT we get gunpowder from the GL

    3. 480AD
    Moscow just got muskets (before I only saw spears)
    we do have saltpeter, but not yet connected which is fine for now

    defeat 1 mace and move out a settler with army cover

    4. 490AD
    bombard Moscow and the musket is red revealing spears
    defeat 3 of them, the musket remains

    5. 500AD
    we have 2 more markets and go into military mode again

    bombard Moscow, defeat 2 muskets and raze the Russian capital for 31 gold
    take out 2 maces next to Agade

    6. 510AD
    take out another left over mace, that threatened our workers
    cover tile so we can road to the front
    found a new city, now we have no settlers, a situation that is very unpleasant but we will get more soon

    7. 520AD
    our capital goes now for high growth instead of 15spt to let it go to pop 8
    take out 2 random units

    8. 530AD
    ok, education will be in next turn, we won't get chivalry, thus i start to research it as we need knights before cavalry
    chivalry is down to 9 turns but with big deficit

    I feel confident we can deal with the enemy and send both mace armies out

    9. 540AD
    take out 2 spears in Vladivostok

    10. 550AD
    big Aztec and Egyptian stacks are now on our doorsteps
    bombard the stacks properly

    take Vladivostok and keep it to heal the army, take out 2 spears in Krasnoyarsk

    then work on the stacks, eliminate 5 Aztec maces, 1 Russian LB and 3 Egyptian maces
    defeat a landed spear as well
    by the way, we now have 4 settlers making their way to the front

    Preturn: Added some more Pikes to Agade. Covered some exposed workers killing a MDI as well.
    Decide to build a bit more Infra while we wait for Knights rather than more MDI.
    Not sure where we want the Forbidden Palace.

    Vladivostok gets disease. One of the first time we have wanted disease as it kills off foreign dudes.

    560 AD: Capture Krasnoyarsk.

    570 AD: Units all going after Krasnoyarsk now.

    580 AD: Abandon Krasnoyarsk. Too hard to defend.
    Busirus is destroyed.
    Build new city: Susa's Marching Band.

    590 AD: Driving back AI. Large Egyptian stack bombarded and killed.

    600 AD: Build Tubtub and Kutallu.

    Notes:
    Was a bit tired when playing and a bit rushed. Check out our cities, just to be sure.

    I'm three turns in and now have a MGL, but it will be a few more turns before our first knights are trained. Rushing FP seems like an attractive option at this time. Do we want it in Bad-Tibira, or perhaps somewhere in the recently-conquered north?
