RB1 - Cuban Isolationists

Yhis is the thread that never ends, it goes on and on my friends!, people have started posting in it not knowing what it was, and they will keep on posting forever just because...this is the thread that never ends.....

kniteowl: I'm sorry, but you're in violation of our NUMBER ONE RULE: No Spoilers :nono: while a tournament game is open! This means zero information. Not a peep! The only things you are allowed to say are, "I'm playing," or "I'm done playing." Nothing else!

Please edit your post and remove all mention of your game, especially the screenshot.

To everybody: please read (and heed!) the rules, if you want to participate in our events and be welcomed in to our community. The No Spoilers rule in particular is vital! We actually consider spoilers MORE SERIOUS THAN cheating on any of the other rules! Thank you!

I find the score to be a useful general indicator about where the AIs stand relative one to another, and obviously useful for resolving MP games that run to X turns and stop. Other than that, I don't have much use for it, so my flip answer would be, "Irrelevant."

To answer your question, though: 17000-something.

No big deal really. I wasn't trying to diminish the accomplishment of this game. I think the game provided good entertainment, taught me and others something and got more people interested in the game. You even coined some new civ lingo. That was the real value in it.
I personally think the scoring system is flawed as it is so much easier to conquer someone on a small map and a lot sooner and get a much higher score.

Anyway congrats, a toast in your honour and maybe even a big cigar. Cuban of course. ;)

kniteowl: Thank you! :)

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. It was bound to happen to somebody, though. Hopefully this will serve to prevent the same from happening to somebody else.

I look forward to your report -- when Closing Day arrives. Should be interesting to get the whole story.

I hope that Sulla enjoyed his road trip to Cleveland. (You've got to respect an NFL fan who will travel to the opponent's city and stadium just to watch their team play live!) I'm sorry the Ravens lost, but there's always next year.

Meanwhile, my team had to make a comeback in the fourth quarter to win their fifth in a row and qualify for the postseason. Now if only they can find a way to win four more in a row.

NFL nine-headed-Hydra anybody? :mischief:

:bounce:

Ugh. A Redskins fan?

My father spent his childhood living on 3rd St NW, in the shadow of the Capitol building. I grew up in the DC area. I got my start in to computers at age 11, at a business apprenticeship with a retail store chain, one block from Dupont Circle. I dominated a fourth of the high score boards from '82 to '84 at the arcade around the corner from the store, on 19th St. (It was a pretty big arcade, too!) I had my own money, but I got half my tokens from the attendants by running errands for them (like grabbing some fast food for them while they were on duty, and such). Heck, there was more than one place that would give me free games galore if I would AVOID playing on their big money-making machines while they were hot. (BT tying up the hot new title for a couple of hours on one quarter was not the profit-making formula!) I had run of the city, thanks to the excellent (and safe) subway system.

I have lived in Pennsylvania most of my life, now, but not by much. My dad's family have been Redskins fans for sixty years. I have local DC channels piped in by satellite so I not only make sure not to miss any Skins games, but also get to see the local sports reports, Redskins Report show, Coach's show, etc. God do I love technology or what. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if electricity disappeared from the face of the planet. :crazyeye:

I wish my 10-6 team would have made the playoffs. :(

Chiefs, eh? My webhost is from KC and a big Chiefs fan. We chat football regularly when the seasons are on. Been a dry run for me for too many years! I'm wondering if all the buzz is true and that Gregg Williams will get the offer sheet (and find it one he can't refuse) from the Chiefs, since he is from KC. (How can he not "go home" to coach his native team? Especially when he'd be inheriting a winning squad from a future Hall of Fame coach who is retiring? But we shall see! I hope he stays with us. We love him here!)

Heh heh. I have been a Seahawks fan since 1979. It's about time. ^^

The Seahawks are my neo-local team and I support them.
It's been an exiting year and I wish them the best.

But My Team is also in the playoffs.

An 11-5 record wasn't enough to win their Divisions Title..
but the win on sunday cinched them the AFC's 2nd wild card.

My team beat the Eagles! :yeah:

Well that isn't much of an accomplishment this year. My Eagles were horrid this year.
Hard to believe this is the same team that did so good in the playoffs last year.

My favorite NFL quote comes from Jerry Glanville:

"N.F.L. That stands for 'Not For Long' if you keep making those kind of calls."

 :rotfl:

That's a good metaphor for weedy civ moves. "Ooh, you just made an NFL move!" As in, "How much longer can we hope to compete in this game of Civ4? Not For Long, if we keep making those kind of calls!" :smoke: [pimp]

I grew up in Fairfax County, and loved the 'Skins for as long as I can remember. It's great to see that I'm not alone around here :D

*sings*
Haaaail to the Redskins! Haaail vic-to-ry!
Braaaaves on the warpath! FIGHT for old D.C.!
:hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

I am huge Washington Capitals fan too. Being Canadian, I love hockey. :goodjob: Go Alexander Ovetchkin. :D

Unfortunately one Ovechkin will not be enough :D . For my part this means no offense to the Caps, since I'm still trying to overcome the loss of Peter the Great to those Philly bastards ;) ;) ;) . Well, that's one reason why my beloved Av's are not where they ought to be. Goaltending is another. But Abby will endure and bounce back the stronger ! I still believe ! :D
