To Government of Nueva Leon
From Henderson House Coffee:

We are worried of the activities of the Enemy of the State Miguel Andri. We request additional troops be stationed in New Santiago to protect our Coffee Plantation (need we remind you your government needs foreign investment like this to continue providing a nice income to yourselves). Failing this, we would like money to allow ourselves to buy aid from Private Military Companies in further securing our position.

From: Padre Diaz, Paz y Democracia

Greetings, my brother in this struggle against evil and tyranny. It seems that we are confronted with two enemies- communists, and governmental troops. Currently, I would view the despot Archuleta's forces to be the greater threat. Perhaps we should propose a temporary alliance with Elbardo's Workers Party to push the usurping government's forces out of Valdez.

Excerpt from a broadcast of Radio Libre de Nueva Leon (translated):

My brothers and sisters in Nueva Leon, at home and abroad, our fight against the dictator Archuleta goes on. Much fighting has broken out across our fair land, and at that I am saddened. However, when confronted with evil, one must stand up and fight it.

In disheartening times like these, we can be driven to fear and distrust. Do not be! We are Leonian, we shall keep our faith. Faith, in families, faith, in compatriots, faith, in God.

It is with faith that we shall struggle for what is ours. We shall overthrow dictatorship and those who would seek to place themselves higher than any man.

We are not without friends. Many other organizations exist to fight for democracy and the freedom of the people. They are commended, and are our brothers in the rebellion against despotism. However, not all rebels have taken the interests of the nation as a whole into the consideration. There are those who have chosen to sow chaos for personal profit, or to break apart our nation. They fight the government, but ultimately, they will come to fight us as well. We must come to them and convince them to leave their destructive ways and follow the path of God, the path to goodness and freedom.

Our struggle will take many shapes. Some join with myself and the other groups committed to winning for us the freedom that has been denied by years of dictatorship. Others are, understandably, afraid to stand up against Archuleta. I understand your fear- in many places such as Valdez, the despot rules with an iron fist, taking away many innocents for no crimes at all. Resistance can be small- even maintained within the confines of the mind. A single spark is all that it takes to set off a great fire, when the time is right. Protect the spark of freedom within yourself, your friends and loved ones. The time will come when it can be revealed, and the edifice of Archeluta will be taken down in flames, back into the inferno from whence it came.

Amistad y Perdón! Paz y Democracia! Buenas Noches.

@All: Many of you it seem to have not realized that the government has troops stationed in every important and major city. I didn't try to penalize you too harshly for attacking cities now, but next turn the soldiers will be more alert and ready for attacks.

Query: In areas with no faction, what if anything exists in the way of government?

I did ask what was there, and you gave no reply.

Faction: The Lord's Soldiers
Leaders: General Alejandro Martinez and Father Angelo Santiago ( Story puposes only)
Class: Ex-General
Credits: 5,000
Army: 50 Paramilitary
Navy: none
Air Force: none
Structures: 1 camp
Government: Theocracy
Base: Close to Bonita

Background: Inspired by God and their belief in the Church General Alejandro and Father Angelo are determined to hand Nueva Leon to the Church and God.

Spending

2500 on one base built in the most defensive position I control.
1500 on 100 paramilitary.
1000 on 200 farmers.

Orders

Farmers will focus on growing cash crops such as coffee. They will stay near the base and retreat to it if attacked. I will guard my base with 50 men. The rest of my men will perform a rapid attack on any military bases nearby avoiding civilian losses, if at all possible. These will be hit and run attacks trying to cause as much damage as possible for as few losses. My soldiers will be ordered to try and capture as much equipment as they can.

I will also attempt to convince surrounding villiages to help me in the name of God and their freedom.

Faction: The Peoples Republic of Nueva Leon
Leader: Capitán Calisto De Vivero/TaylorFlame
Class: Ex-General
Credits: 5,000
Army: 50 Paramilitary
Navy: none
Air Force: none
Structures: 1 camp
Government: Socialist Democracy
Base: East of Punta Gorda

Backstory: Capitán Calisto De Vivero was a very nationalistic Capitán in the Nueva Leonese Army, and was renowned for his socialist ideas and love of the working class. He was a vocal supporter of democracy which meant that when Archuleta, the General he had always served under, ordered him to assault the pro-democracy forces occupying Estacado, he rebelled, as did the Company he was in charge of. He managed to get his entire company onto the 10 APC's he managed to commandeer and escaped Southwards into the more forested inner regions, finally setting up camp near Punta Gorda, his home town. He vowed to kill Archuleta himself, and unite Nueva Leon under a socialist banner.

Orders:
Purchase 200 Paramilitary for 3000 credits. (2000 credits left)
Purchase 10 APCs for 1750 credits. (250 credits left)

Have the Paramilitary forces under my control conduct regular patrols, in groups of 10-15, around the area, making sure they know the land well should they ever have to fight or escape in the surrounding terrain. Should any patrols encounter Fascist patrols, they are to be ambushed as long as the enemy patrol can easily be defeated. If not, they must immediately withdraw and report the location and details of the enemy patrol so a decent sized force can intercept them later. If an enemy patrol is defeated, remove anything of worth from the enemy force. If any of these patrols encounter a small town, have them enter and try to garner support for the socialist cause, which should be welcomed by the beleaguered townsfolk. This will increase our support base and also increase our area of influence.

Get some of the Paramilitary who are not yet suspected by the Fascist government in Punta Gorda to spread pro-socialist propaganda, in order to garner public support and to get help to defeat Fascist forces. Also, they should discreetly install speakers in public areas to spread the message of freedom, socialism, democracy and the PRNL in order to get civilians and enemy soldiers sympathetic to the socialist and democratic cause to join the PRNL, or provide monetary donations.

Have one discreet and agile soldier sneak into the centre of Punta Gorda at night, climb up to the highest building and plant a yellow flag with PRNL printed on it in red in the place of the Nueva Leonese flag.

Right now I don't have the power to do anything about the bandits that terrorise this area, because you have not yet given me the power to do so! I need your full cooperation, and all will be pleasant! The bank robbery was indeed an unpleasant experience for our great city. It's always a loss when the workers of this country have to go without food because robbers have taken what's rightfully yours, unlawfully. At this time I cannot mend the entirety of the suffering you all feal, but I will give what I can, to compensate at least a little for the damage that these villains have done. We are going to work with the bank to find those people who cannot afford the loss of their bank accounts, and the Nationalist Party will make sure that those people do not go to bed hungry. We must stay a strong country, through these troubled times, to rise from the ashes a new respected world power! Nueva Leon!

EDIT!: Looks like none of my orders were carried out...

To: Padre Diaz, Paz y Democracia

We gladly accept your friendship and will provide you any aid you might need in our struggle for a democratic Nueva Leon. If you need it, we could build a second secret radio station for Radio Libre de Nueva Leon in our jungle base, well hidden from the military but in the heart of the nation and the minds of its people.

-----

Orders:

-spend 500 to build a camp

-spend 200 to increase the western network of operatives

-use that network to channel funds and materials (especially medical supplies and "luxuries" such as soap) discreetly (300 credits for expenses) for the ADNL

-have 100 farmers exploring the jungle, in groups of 10.

-the other 100 farmers will continue to farm and provide food

-use the supplies from the West to improve the living conditions of the supporters by providing a clinic, a school and other similar things usually found only in larger cities

@Neverwonagame3 - Sorry, I must have missed it, did you edit that question in, because I did not see it when I was reading orders and such.

@Amon Savag - Sorry, also, but I was using a random number generator to find out how well people's orders and such would succeed, and you got a bad roll. Don't worry, you're a politician, you can spin anything ;)

EDIT: Also you guys that have cities under your color, that doesn't mean you have troops in the city, just that you have influence. The government still has troops in those cities, but you have the people's support/fear.

We have received word of a bank heist that has occurred in Estacado. This is very discouraging.. as we sort out most of our business in this city. I wish to assist you on finding those who were the perpetrators of this act.
We hear it was General Harick of the Dark Hand.. currently, intelligence tells us this is incorrect, for we have satellite images proving otherwise.
We will offer our.. services free of charge, as to protect our interests in Estacado, and our people living there.

We are eager to accept such a prominent businessman's endorsement.

As long as your people leave me and my supporters alone, we have no qualms with your business. If you start to interfere, then something will have to be done, but I would much rather that it not come to that.

I did not edit the question in- it's plausible you could have missed it (I miss things sometimes), to be fair.

Orders:

Buy 1000 farmers with my creds. Use them to make me cocaine farming money.

Spread propaganda to the people about how times are crappy and they should put their trust in me to lead them out of the dispair they're in now. "You are enduring hard times. This will change once I have the power to change it" is the main message. Collect donations from those who have the ability to donate, perhaps nationalistic businessmen, who are given promises that their business will have extra rights when I'm el presidente.

When I said none of my orders were followed through with... I meant this post... Check out my stats.

Ah, sorry, I missed the farmers, but like I said, I don't want players to start farming cocaine so soon, it would just give too much power for the players this early in the game. Go befriend a cartel or take over them and then you can get some coke money (you'll run into cartels and coke fields and such as you expand and explore) but I'll update your stats right now. The propaganda didn't work out that well because of the massacre in the bank, but I must have just forgot your spending part.

The path of a General- part 1.

The ground was wet and cold from the rain fall that day, Colonel Harick was being put to the test physically this time. This was the first test to see if he were fit enough to be a General in the Nueva Leon army, this test was to endure physical punishment and not show any pain through out the entire test. He had been out on his own for one week and this was the last day of this part of the test, on this day he would be responsible for ambushing a supply truck on route from Punta Gorda to Corte Madera.

He had been in place for the ambush for only ten minutes when he heard the roar of a truck engine rev as it began to climb the hill that he was already atop of. He grinned to himself as he crawled between a few bushes, and caught a view of an un-protected supply truck. Colonel Harick plucked the cigar from his lips and flicked it into a puddle on the road as the trucks headlights filled the hilltop, then shined all over the place as the truck tires popped on the shards of glass Harick had placed along the road, he bounced to his feet and rushed over to the stopped vehicle. As he arrived to the truck he un holstered his pistol, aiming it at the driver side door, and slowly reached out toward the handle. Just as his hand clasped the cold steel he heard a sloshing sound to his right, he turned and saw the driver standing there with a rifle aimed at the head of Harick. Out of instinct Harick dove in front of the truck, just as a bullet was fired and barely missed him, he rolled onto his back as the man reached the front of truck and Harick fired four nine millimeter bullets into the mans chest and watched as his legs gave out, then fell forward and lay motionless.

Harick arrived in Corte Madera the next day and met with General Archuleta who congratulated him on his success, then gave him his next task…

Ejercito del Sur de Nueval Leon

Teniente General Arturo Agustin Viola

Arturo Viola has been a career officer in the military of Nueva Leon since his graduation from the military academy. His critics always suggested that he lacked the political skills necessary to succeed in the corrupt military of Nueva Leon, and true to their claims he was repeatedly denied promotions due to lack of powerful friends despite multiple skilled victories during the wars with the Republic de Soto. When Arturo finally turned 60, he was promoted to Teniente General and given command of Nueval Leon's southern army (Ejercito del Sur) as a way to allow him to serve out his career with honor.

General Archuleta, the leader of the coup, has met Viola on numerous occasions and in general thought that he was a "loyal old fool." No trouble was expected from the South when Archuleta launched his coup against the government and seized power.

Contrary to the expectations, however, Viola first ignored his orders to secure the nearby city, and then, when it became obvious that the coup would succeed left the military base with a large number of supporters. That fact that Viola was passed over for a promotion that eventually went to Archuleta probably had a lot to do with the animocity, but at least publically Viola declared that he is seeking the "restoration of the legitimate Constitutional order"
