Respect for lazy people

To me, being lazy means you just wanna enjoy life to it's fullest, so I don't see anything wrong with being lazy. My question is, why does society have no respect for those who are lazy? And for those of you who don't respect lazy people, why don't they deserve your respect?

I tend not to respect mentally lazy people. Physically lazy people are just not much fun to be around.

Because the definition of lazy is not what you say - wanting to live life to it's fullest. People respect wanting to live life to it's fullest.

This says it more clearly than I could have.

And since we live in a society with wealth distribution (and publically purchased services), they kinda irritate me. If they're not paying their costs, then someone else is.

I don't mind lazy people who incur no costs to others.

I don't think it's hatred of lazy people so much as they don't like people they perceive to be as lazy(whether real or imaginary) mooching off of their hard work(welfare queens).

Laziness as in the context of a personality trait is not the liking of relaxation but the unwillingness to do labor for later rewards; that is not a respectable thing!

People who don't have a job and laze around in their pjs all day long are lazy.

I have respect for lazy people who are willing to make do with what little the amount of work they will do can provide, so long as they don't cheat other people or the government to get more. If they don't mind poverty, them more power to 'em.

My AP Computer Science teacher in high school said that in programming, laziness is a virtue.
