Emperor Epic the We-Lost-Count-Of-How-Manyth, was looking at a map of the world, and decided he wanted to meet the people to the far east that the Indians told him about. Being too lazy to send a ship around Africa, he decided to send a ship west. Everyone thought the emperor had drunk a bit too much wine, but the few who spoke up were soon in the Imperial Lava Pit.

yes, none of the Conquistador events happen until around 1300AD
they also dont happen if you contact the civs via unit, it only works with your ship entering the line of site of the native's cultural boundaries

Yeah, I found that out when I had a super-Babylon (tech wise, at least... I owned Anatolia, Jerusalem and Babylon, so it wasn't like Tlonnite's Mega-ylon, but I had gunpowder in 600 AD or so.

I was a super Rome. I had all the historical Roman Empire, until those darn Spanish, French, and English broke away.....
Long story short, I discovered the New World in 900AD. I vassalized the Mayans and the Incans, destroyed the Aztecs when they spawned, gave their land to the Mayans, etc.
In 1492AD I have 2 colonies. 1 in the New Orleans tile, and one in SA. The Mayans own part of Spain, the Portugese the other part. The Netherlands live in England and France. Yea. The Spanish, English, and French made the mistake of going to war with me. In fact, I think teh Portugese went to war with me and I destroyed them..... Well, I'll post the save so you can figure it out.

I think you can trigger Conquistadors with units, as whenever the Mayans survive I usually trigger the Aztec Conquistadors with the ones I first get from the Mayans

After many years of fighting, I have taken France back from, well, France! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
As Louie XIV is tortured before being burned alive in the Imperial Lava Pit, the Emperor throws a giant party involving ten thousand gladiators, several hundred bottles of wine, and the torturing of various French generals.
Indian Turkey is gone! OK, that means I can conquer Babylon...
I didn't notice the orange flags, but the Turks have spawned. The Emperor begins a long praying session hoping that Constantinopolis does not get culture-flipped or captured. Hopefully, the Ottomans will take care or the Arabs for us...
