RFCEurope 1.1

Sorry for double posting, but I just wanted to say that I was able to get this downloaded and installed (just did it on a different computer, not sure why that did the trick). It's great! Having so much fun, even though I was chugging along nicely with Poland, gobbling up first Kiev then Lithuania, when Germany knocks on my doors with about a kajillion Knights and clobbers me. But I digress. Really looking forward to RFCE++ being integrated, itching to play as Aragon or Denmark!

Likewise. All I want for Xmas is RFCE 2.0! :xmascheers:

Xmas 2013 or Xmas 2014, that's the question.

I concentrate on flaws when commenting, but the game is pretty damn FUN, great job guys :)

My only gripe with this game is that it is too short. 5 hours ;)

Thanks for the kind words!
It feels so good to read that your work is appreciated :king:

Didn't have too much time to mod in the last month
Got sick, pre-exam period, new girlfriend, other usual RL stuff...
Anyway, I won't release RFCE 1.2 in late december, rather an 1.11 patch with the changes I'm able to add in the next 2 weeks

Btw I'm reading all RFCE threads very often, even when I don't have time to post/react to the posts
So keep up with the feedback, especially with some quick balancing issues/small changes for the 1.11 patch

Good to know you're there absinthered, I started to think that you were gone.

This mod needs to go on, we can't afford to lose more modders.

And I know that most of my topics are on flaws or other things that I want to see changed, but I really love this mod and its' mechanics. I often forget to congratulate on the updates and bugfixes, a problem I must overcome. So I hope I didn't create a bad atmosphere in any of my posts. If I did I'm truly sorry (Actually I hate this written form of conversation, I feel there is a great loss of meaning because of the lack of ways to make the interpretation more clear). And as I usually come here late in the night I'm always sleepy and my text comes a mess).

So congratulations Absinthered, Merijn and all other modders and players that make this mod even more enjoyable.

Especially since I'm the only modder since 1.0 ;)
With some help from Merijn, but he is busy with other projects too

Oh, don't worry
Constructive criticism is always welcomed
Also, I really like the atmosphere here in the CFC forums, and I try to never took any posts the wrong way

The problem is not that I have no time to code. It's that most things on the todo list are python things. And I don't have the python skills to do those things. :(
The only python thing I can think of I can do now is redoing some bits of the merc system. (Adding more units like I did with the UM) The problem with this is that I keep forgetting that this still needs to be done. I'll try to remember it this week so I can finally do this.;)

@ Absinthered
If you have anything on the todo list that requires XML or art, you can post it, so I can take it over from you and you can concentrate on the python things.
(You can also post/send the complete todo list and I can see which things I'm able to take over from you)

Been a while since I've been about, so I'm not sure if this is a known issue - or just happening to me. This is on 1.1. Just played a Venetian game - it was great. Now playing Muscovy, and the game crashes after 1516, turn 308. Savegame attached.

As always, love the work you do! Especially some thanks to you, Absinthe!

Playing a Genoa game, crashing in 1516 or so too. Will re-download and see if maybe I just got a bad copy.

I've played Genoa as my first successful game in 1.1. No crashes or anything weird. Actually, since 1.0, I had no more crashes or problems (but maybe this is tied to changing my OS to 64-bit, I'm not sure, but the times of both 1.0 release and my pc upgrade were really close).

Hey, just wondering how do you make the mod work (this is my first downloaded mod)?
I've unzipped it in my Downloads folder and cut and pasted it into C:/Program Files (x86)/...Beyond the Sword/Mods but it doesn't seem to work when I click load a mod in the game, it just has the normal menu and everything :(
Any clue what's happening???

@for all the posts regarding crashes:
I am aware of this issue, but it's a hard one
It does help to have a 64 bit operation system
Otherwise crashes might occur in a couple cases, and not with the usual MAF crash (Memory Allocation Fault), but returning to windows with a simple Civ IV error message
In my experience if there are too many assert failures in the c++ code (in the dll) the chance for these type of CTDs increase drastically, especially in weaker machines and/or on 32 bit operation systems
Because it's usually connected to memory AFAIK, restarting the game or even reloading a save might help

I'm struggling with solving a couple of these assert failures with a differently compiled dll (a simple debug dll for the mod)
Unfortunately I progress rather slowly, debugging this way is still a rather gray area to me...

So you can see the mod in the "load a mod" menu in BtS, but still won't load?
Hmm, not sure what's wrong
Maybe set the language to english (if it's not that already)
Also, can you tell me the exact path of the map in the mod?
It should be ..../Beyond the Sword/Mods/RFCEurope/Assets/PrivateMaps/RFCEurope.CivBeyondSwordWBSave
If it's there, you can also start RFCE with that file

Make sure you have the right folder. Do you have Steam? If so, you need to extract to Steam/apps/common... something like that to get to the Beyond the Sword/Mods folder. I think also depending on your installation you might need to put it in something like Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword (correct me if I'm wrong).

The first few times I installed mods I tried like 3 different places before I got it to work. Now I know I have to put it in the Steam folder.

It's .../Beyond the Sword/Mods/RFCEurope_1.1/RFCEurope/PrivateMaps/RFCEurope.CivBeyondSwordWBSave
Not sure how you have it in the Assets folder, I didn't do anything to it... so do I cut and paste it where you said?

Make sure it's in the correct folder. ...\drive game in \Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods

Bold is the same no matter what.
