Washington Square Park becoming a World Wonder is a strange choice for me. It's so unremarkable.
If it and the Amusement Park (Santa Monica Pier) are both World Wonders. I'll eat my hat. Too many American wonders.
uhhh YEAH!
What is this craziness?! I'm convinced it has to be either involved with governors or (please God, hopefully) civ-specific national wonders.
So the feitoria basically confirms Portugal. And if the map in the trailer wasn't a big red herring, the Dutch as well. That's probably it for European civs then (2 out of 8)?

If this is a feitoria, the Portuguese are in, but I don't really buy that we'd get the Dutch as well. They're not identical by any means, but they are both European and maritime. I think, at this point, the Dutch allusion in the trailer might simply be a red herring.
I think the pier is a district, although I cannot pinpoint a purpose for it yet. I disagree that it is a UD for the Entertainment Complex, and suspect that it will not overlap with the EC's purpose.
The purpose is that it doesn’t take up a tile of land. Also, I theorise it will have different buildings when placed on water (like the Ferris wheel), potentially giving new effects.
Fair enough, I wasnt sure right now if we knew which two were those.
Still, it would be possible for a governor to allow an entertainment district to be build on water (maybe with "full buildings" baseline), without it being counted as a "new district" right?
Honestly, I do not believe that is a Feitoria and I also do not believe that Portugal will be in this expansion. If this expansion will be including 3 or 4 European civs, I am quite sure that Holland is the most certain, the others may be Celts and a European civ never seen before.
That structure in the Screenshot can be a Kilwa build.

Especially since the pier repurposes a lot of the graphics from the entertainment district. I mean I know we've had the Great Firewall and Ruhr Valley before, but these would be the most eyebrow-raising choices for world wonder in a while. Especially the Park - there's a much more famous and iconic one in the same city!
Maybe, if the governors' names (and personalities) are set and not civ-given, the entertainment one will have an "american" personality and allows building the garden/entertainment district on water?
I think what's interesting about the photo is that it includes Liberty, and the boardwalk entertainment complex which can be interpreted to be Coney Island. combined with Washington Sq Park, its clearly a NYC themed shot.
the quality of the park model is in this very hard to parse middle ground between the look of general tile improvements and wonders. It looks more detailed and shinier than a farm or a mine or even more unique ones like the big heads or stepwells in that it very fully fills the tile in a structured way like a wonder. However it isn't very vertical and it does not supersize the key feature of washington sq, the arch. most wonders quite emphasize the spectacle over surrounding structures, or are very vertical. Kamakura Buddha, Big Ben, Broadway, etc. perhaps there's a bonus for getting the first city park, or something like that and if you do you get a nicer model? i don't know how much i buy that. I guess i'm simply inclined to think governor improvements look nicer because maybe you're limited in how many you get to have and to visually separate them from other generic tile improvements

And it has significant differences from the Santa Monica pier (which has the ferris wheel closer to shore).
I think it‘s also a governor thing. The same governor that lets you build the park, lets you build an EC on water tiles after some upgrades. Or another governor is at work. I think both structures are for amenity purposes. It‘s wild speculation, and just my opinion today.
If it remains true to history, feitorias are vulnerable at all times. They're not typically occupied by a military unit, but can be protected that way. This is what led to the downfall of the Portuguese Empire. The British exploited the opportunity to seize Portuguese feitorias while they were preocupied with a succession crisis (that's how they got all those African countries, India & the Dutch Indonesia).

I agree, I think it's most likely that all three of those unusual constructions in the American city are Governor-related improvements. If that "feitoria" thing is a Wonder it's a mighty obscure one.
Santa Monica Pier I can just about accept as a Wonder, but the park...

Probably three, but it also depends on how you define a European civ. I think we will see Canada and an Anatolian civ, and possibly Colombia, those are all half-European civs. And Tamar of Georgia is also 50/50, and a possibility. Netherlands is a given, and Portugal may very well be in the expansion.
