[R&F] Rise and Fall Screenshot discussion

I'm leaning towards Theodosian Walls wonder. It seems to resemble some of the images on Wikipedia. It has all of the elements. I'm just not seeing the resemblance to Feitorias.

But why would a Theodosian Wall wonder just sit out in the middle of a desert? What good would it even do? What would it be enveloping? If Theodosian Walls ever become a wonder, I'd expect their placement to be on the capital city's city center district and give an immense buff to city defense.

It might have nothing to do with the desert. The terrain requirement is probably just coastal. They may have plopped it there just for the screenshot.

My point is not that it's on the desert, but rather that the whole point of the Theodosian Walls was not as a standalone fort or castle; they were fortifications for Constantinople. I don't imagine it as a wonder that would sit off to the side enclosing some orange trees.

That's why I suggested they might have combined it with the harbor in Constantinople.
I think the harbour part might be a bit small in that case. :p
It makes more since than it being a Hamman in my opinion.

There are only eight new World Wonders being added. If all those you listed, Washington Square Park, Amusement Park, and Feitoria thingy are all world wonders, that would be ten wonders. Two of them aren't world wonders.

A feitoria would be as it was in Civ V, a unique tile improvement for Portugal, not a wonder. They just have to make it an entire tile for mechanics to work properly with this game. Blue & white are Portuguese royal colors.

Yes, most are in agreement as well. I believe it is the dome that is throwing some people off as that doesn't especially look like it would be Portuguese. Everything else does though. I'm also under the impression that the governor who will allow the unique improvements might let you build the Entertainment Complex on water as well. It has the same colors and everything and wouldn't make sense as a wonder, or another whole new district. Unless that district bight me tied to tourism as well.

Remember how in one of the videos they were talking about specializing your civ toward a specific route? You think the governor's quasi-wonder correlates with the track(s) you choose/have the most points toward?

I think if it was this, it would be built on the water like the Harbor district.

I’m gonna say it’s a feitoria. It makes the most sense.

Portugal confirmed? :D

Portugal confirmed? :D
Maybe!

Although actually the idea of it being the Kilwa Kisiwani is intriguing too, with it having the correct kind of architecture and location, and having three main buildings.

If it isn’t one of those two, then either we’re all fools, or Firaxis did a poor job :P

I'm just giving a silly idea, but we already said that the Dutch are more likely to be a civ in the extansion.
Perhaps the UA of the Dutch will be : you can build district on coastal tiles (you know, because they're known to steal land to the sea, all that).
Maybe it will be a little OP, but maybe it will be available only if you discover a specific technology (guilds or something).

I remember that for Civ V the devs said that they wanted for the Dutch a UA allowing them to build cities on water tiles, but the limits of the engine wouldn't permit that. Maybe they kept stuck with this idea and they managed to do it.

It will explain the EC build on water. Maybe for the Dutch it will be with slighty different changes in artwork.

Dunno, just an idea.

Considering governor improvements, I wonder how they work. I assume they can only be built in the city where the governor is employed. Since they are called improvements and not unique buildings, I suppose they are built by builders and not by the city. Do we have any hints if it is possible to change the city the governor is working in? I guess it probably is possible, I‘m just wondering if the improvement loses its purpose without the governor or if it is a good idea to let the governor travel around your empire with some builders once.

As I imagine the system, a governor in a city will allow a builder built in this city to have the unique capacity to build this unique improvment (so, if after you move your governor to another city, every builder built in this city would be able to build the improvment)

That‘s an idea I haven‘t had. It‘s interesting and would prevent tiresome governor ‚traveling‘. But it makes sense since the same governor gives more charges to builders. So the governor allows producing special builders with a unique ability and extra charges.

You're forgetting that these orange trees are very sacred. :)

I would expect the governors to have charges like a naturalist. One time use. I am hoping they allow multiple options for National Park tile selection, especially if there is one on water (where’s the Barrier Reef?)
