Rockets red glare

How would your country react?

  • It would mean war. We'd put a stop to it by force if necessary.

  • We'd take no action. We believe diplomacy is the best way to stop the firing of rockets.

  • We'd tell ourselves the rockets arent real, like that 'Gunfight at OK Corral' Star Trek episode.

A rocket attack from across the border eh?

I'll reply for two:

Philippines:
Scenario would be slightly modified as we're an archipelago. Rockets will have to fired from offshore from a marine vessel. The nearest neighbors are Malaysia, Taiwan, China (from Spratlys) plus Indonesia and Vietnam (farther away).

Reaction? Diplomatic protest and our government will run to the US and beg for protection. We have no air forces available to make a retaliatory strike, and no naval forces to successfully insert commandos.

China:
Multiple possible fronts. Neighbors with land borders include Russia, Mongolia, North Korea, Afghanistan (tiny stretch), Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam. Offshore attacks could come from South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Reaction? Government will ascertain first whether the attack was carried out by isolated elements or is an official act of war.

If it's the former then commando operations with the cooperation of the host country would most likely be the maximum reaction as the government would not want to escalate things. If the country of origin is a 'biggie' like Russia or Japan then any armed intervention will not happen at all. Merely diplomatic demands that the host 'take care' of the problem.

If it is indeed an official act of war, then..... may God have mercy on our souls... :nuke:

It depends on the situation. You can't start the war if you know you'll lose. It doesn't make sense. You then better start negotiating immediately, survival is the key word, not heroic death.

Well, of course it depends if my country deserves it or not. IE, if we celebrate the wrong religion, or offend the other country by not living by their laws, then I would hope my country just accepts our punishment.

If the rockets come from Norway, I say flatten Oslo.

If they're coming from Finland, find out who is firing them, and then act accordingly.

So you are in Sweden?

Indeed.

Although we might want to make war, if australia was bombing us we would hope the UN would step in, while preparing what we could to repel the invaders.

Tactically, that's exactly where I'd attack if my cities are being attacked. Cut off all semblance of transportation capability of my enemies.

However, I wouldn't do it for 3 military personnel. That would require hard diplomacy.
part one - i totally agree.

part two - 3 or 30 or 300, doesnt matter.
its the principle of the matter.

when there is a status quo in place that allows for a kidnapping once every so often, so be it.
if side A decides to escelate things, side B is forced to act.

my belief is that if someone hits you once, turn the other cheek and ignore it.
if he does that again - turn around, wait a minute, grab a chair and break it over his head, followed bysome serious headbashing, leaving him almost dead.

thats a lesson to both him and his mates.

ofcourse, i usually get hammered doing it, but it NEVER happens twice with the same crowd.

:hmm: I think it's a bit aggressive, mate. I'm as hawkish as the next guy but there have been prisoner exchanges in the past. Maybe the current administration believes this was the last straw and destroying both economies is equivalent. Undoubtedly, the Lebanese tourist industry is done. Sad methinks.

I guess the silver lining is Hezbollah has expended 20% of their missile arsenal.

CANADA AND MEXICO HAVE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION!! LETS GET'EM!

hehe.

Given the propensity of Hispanic illegals to hang around Home Depot waiting for jobs, I'd say that Mexico actually has Weapons of Mass Construction. :p
