Role Play Challenge, The Next Generation: Sid Meier, The Civilized Tyrant

Nice conquests :). I say you should immediatly take out Gil, then consolidate your power and expand your military (read: build another massive stack).

You're probably right. No need researching myst and medi by yourself. Waste of broker-beakers.
But make it a priority. :)

I can tell you the tech trading situation very easily, No One Has Alphabet Yet!

Have you thought about getting a workboat out to find other civs? I bet someone has alpha by now.

This seems like this will be an interesting game.

Sid Meier, The Civilized Tyrant: The Annexation of Summeria

Sid rolled up his sleeves as the Civfanatic community watched him closely. There was obvious only one thing to here, show the Civfanatics the Sid Meier does in fact have the killer instinct everyone thinks he has!

Research was directed towards Constructions, troops healed, reinforcements built, and a pari of Numidians were sent forth as scouts

SidE0000.jpg

Two major cities with a bunch of dead wood. As the Civfanatic community is LARGE Sid plans to settle all the lands and everyone deserves a city to govern!

Before construction was finished, the veteran units were sent into Summeria

SidE0001.jpg

SidE0002.jpg

Sorry Gilgamesh, I know your friends with us but the Civfanatic Community MUST expand!

Once we finished Construction at the start we started researching Currency to right this economy. Tanking the economy was not so much a threat anymore as we got this random event.

SidE0005.jpg

The Civfanatic Community was silent of which poster actually ran this distance, and all took equal credit for it. So we have a Golden Age while driving down on Summeria.

First Eridu was captured

SidE0005.jpg

And Given over to Killroyan to administrate.

The Numidian Veterans were then sent towards Ur while the slower troops healed or waited in the City of Killroyan.

SidE0006.jpg

The Numidians with that flanking II have been great at taking out those protective archers, the first attack generally survives while the second destroys the defender.

Our cities begin the produce War Elephants and catapults while the Veterans move onto the Summerian Capital.

SidE0007.jpg

SidE0008.jpg

uruk was probably the biggest nbattle yet. Alot of Numidians were used to weaken the defenders and we lost a few here, but the city was eventually taken breaking the back of Gilgamesh and allowing a great coastal city to place Liberiglacialis in charge of.
As we neared the end of Currency we found alphabet was already discovered

SidE0009.jpg

We waited as Mao wanted both Construction and HBR for alphabet, too steep a price. We shifted reasearch to 100% beakers to reduce the time to one turn, allowing us to make this trade

SidE0012.jpg

We then were able to beg Mysticism and Agriculture off of Hatty and Mao.

Trying to move closer to priesthood we made a generous trade with hatty

SidE0014.jpg

All this tech trading allowed us to rebuilt the army and prepare to take more Summeria lands.

SidE0016.jpg

Resulting in

SidE0018.jpg

Which was given over to KMadCandy.

What was left here now was a few useless ice cities

SidE0019.jpg

Which were raised and Gilgamesh isolated to an apparently off-shore island.

We got our second Great General which is in waiting right now. Do we get a super-medic Numidian, or settle him???

Gilgamesh is a broken leader now, driven to an off-shore land, no longer able to even call himself Summerian! We addept peace and a few useful techs.

SidE0023.jpg

His death can be delayed, right now we have all of Summeria with many lands to further settle. In addition we researched Code of Laws and we are halfway through COmpass which allows us to build the powerful UB, the Cothon!

I saved here, with big question of whther we go right after Hatty and her patheic handful of cities, or Built or economy taking advantage of our land. OR, is Sid and the Civfanatics BIG enough to do both!

The situation

Techs

SidE0024.jpg

The Map

SidE0025.jpg

Yeah, yeah, we need to scout a little more.

Hatty's cities

SidE0026.jpg

which tells me Stalin is probably pretty week since they had a long war without Hatty going down. Perhaps we can simply bribe Hatty into attaching Stalin then backstab her. Those extra techs would be pretty meaningless if she was dead!

Demographics

SidE0027.jpg

Pretty good here, and #2 in empire size!

And the cities

SidE0028.jpg

For the record, I am generally using Civfanatics to run these cities in the order you guys started posting in the RPCs (and kept posting)!

So friends, do we simply built a little more and take out Egypt???

Good job on taking out Sumeria. If I were you id now hold back a bit in favour of economic development, while you scout out the rest of your continent. The time is useful as well to build up the military forces once again.

all in all a massive economic collapse because of overexpansion would be inadvisable, therefore making caution the better part of valour until your in a more financially stable position. markets in financial hubs and courthouses all round followed by the build up for the elimination of Hatty and some other random I suggest is the best option both immediately and in the long run, where a financial meltdown could lead to your intercontinental enemies achieving technological superiority.

However if you think the magnificent "Empire of Fanatical Civilisationists" can benefit overall from another quick conquest then by all means go ahead, after all with only three cities it may not be too much of a burden. But since you can easily out produce her later anyway id wait a bit and consolidate your position.

I hope monty's a monster in this game!!!

An M3 chariot would make for shorter wars, which is always a good thing. Because of CHA, you can just build one in a city with a stable for C1M3Morale.

I wonder who's number 1 in land area? Have you seen lots of GGs being born (other than your own  )?

Definitely need to do some scouting again, but I'd say build some workers then take your veteran troops and continue on the war path.

Good work Mad, this has been a great game so far however I have a feeling that its gonna start getting very easy. Mostly because you have enough land now that you should be able to get away with only conquering civs with less than half your cities. You're just gonna conquer more and more 3-4 city civs (hatty, stalin etc.) until the 8-10 city civs (mao... ) are no threat at all anymore. It would have been cool if you gave an AI like Zara a massive, resource rich continent to settle on his own so that you could set up a massive end game battle royale! Unfortunately its too late for that now... Enjoy the romp!:goodjob:

Also I want to see some super promoted mounted units!

Someone mentioned getting Sid's Sushi, and while that would be nice from a RPC standpoint, I would think that it would limit you to occupying 2 continents due to maintenance costs in Free Market (Palace on home continent; Forbidden Palace on 2nd continent). If you plan to keep cities after owning 2 continents, you will likely want State Property. Of course it's entirely possible to simply chain vassal the other 4 continents and win conquest that way.

Or found Sid's Sushi for flavor, and run State Property anyway .

Btw Mad, I have enjoyed your RPCs greatly, so I hope to see some "bonus" games posted later at some point.

Economy. No need to rush attacking Hatshepsut. She'll be easy to take out for the entire game. Make friends with her and the other civs and let them spread your religion, whilst you expand peacefully. At least have some cottages up and running.

... But I guess you're gonna do both! :D

I second this. A powerful medic unit will do you more good now than +2XP to future units.

I also second this. Your economy is pretty good right now, even bleeding a little at 50%. Land is power. Right now you have a lot of land giving you research, possibly even enough to match anyone else if it dropped to 30%. Are you running any Scientists? Looks like TheMeInTeam, Neal, and maybe some others could run a few. Do get some workers, though.

That marathon event helped a lot, though you posted the wrong pic for it. :p

Someone out there still has more land. :trouble:

The rest of this continent may be easy, with Mao being a possible exception, but there are still others to conquer, and they won't necessarily be. I also expect at least one continent to be a super-tech-buddies coalition of no fun. Should make for some interesting wars.
