I am playing a shadow game and I have two questions.


Is it allowed to acquire resources through cash? My gold his resource?

If I build Broadway etc.. can I trade a "Hit Musical" for a resource?

To answer your questions, NO and NO.

Toku cannot trade anything except techs, although he is allowed to trade a tech for cash. Put it this way, we arelooking to limit trades to a one-shot deal, something that will not last past 1 turn!

Suleiman is too powerful for you to attack now and Portuguese, French, and Maya are all a single Hindu block so you don't want to take them on either; the away things are now, I build up an army and go pummel Pericles and the Greeks (since they lead the scoreboard and their power graph is only slightly higher than yours) or maybe Frederick. Your call ..

Um, er. Toku is an isolationist, he prefers to leave all other AIs alone. Give the man his peace and quiet.

RPC rules and guidelines

Rules:
1) We play a normal game until we meet another AI.
2) We can NEVER open borders with anyone.
3) We cannot trade resources!
4) We must repel any AI city on our land mass.
5) We may trade techs.
6) We can only winn via a space race.

Guidlines:
1) All civics are in play EXCEPT religious ones unless we found a religion ourselves.
2) We will not initiate any wars unless we need access to a resoruce not on our continent. The we may take what we need.
3) We may defend ourselves as we see fit. There is no rule when to declare peace.

Rule #6, we can only win with a space race. Because of this, Guideline 2applies as our economy get's hurt with every war we initiate.

So unless we need to obtain OIL or ALUMINUM (Coal is optional and sometimes I prefer not getting it anyway) we will not declare war.

I have yet to have a single "Quest" ... Sulieman has gotten them all from what I can tell... Oh and I have had every Hurricane and Tornado!

Even with that... I am holding my own... Been in no wars yet but have been stoking the German / Ottoman hatred.. No WWI allies in my game!

Playing a shadow game is interesting... Perciles has a city with my religon on an island.... I use it as a cheap place to steal tech... He is my favorite pal.. oh he is also friendly with me atm...

Looks as if Perciles...is going for a cutural victory, even at this early stage.

Sparta, is a 4 that's FOUR RELIGION holy city, with 3 of the building built for the religions.

He has 9 cities with all 4 religions contained in them, Athens is not on the cities list, as its his capital.

And he has Drama for the catherdrals..

Culture has taken a lift off with the greeks......Proberly from the wonder spamming he's undertaken, but also I'd say from temples etc.

How do you or could you plan to stop that domination, I guess with Suleiman, who'll declare war for Liberialism, you just wait for the inevitable cultural upswing and bribe into war, but will you have the techs' to do so by then....Maybe Sullie will do it of his own recongnisence..

A quick update, Game is interesting as we are falling behind badly to Pericles. However we made an interesting late game trade, and have an intruder violating our blessed Japanese soil. I will post the game in a bit and hear what you all think we should do although I pretty much know what you bloodthirsty maniacs will suggest

Tokugawa is upset and disgusted. There is an inferior nation on Japanese soil, the barbarian Greeks. Bah they must die, and we may just destroy them all filthy slime!!!!

OK, let start this round off with the techpath

SM/Physics/Rifling/SP/Steel/RR, we got the physics first for teh GS which we settled.

After Sci Meth we cheacked for oil.

We are swimming in the stuff!!! Stupidly I did not think of checking who else had it, being an isolationist has it's disadvantages.

Backfilled some techs with the weakest techers.

OK, very nice.

The Japanese nation is warming itself up a bit now, attacking amd razing that nuisance Barb city.

After physics we found one lone uranium resource

We need to watch this as this may be a good reason, I mean an unfortunate event to declare war on the Mayans.

And at the end of this brief segment we offer a trade to Suliman.

Yeah we gave him steel, so what.

Because we found out something very annoying.

THAT IS CLEARLY JAPANESE LAND. WE shall recover that land even if we have to kill off all Greeks or until the Japanese nation is dead. Honor is the most important thing here!!!!!

And then there is also this semi-annoying island.

Yes the Greeks must be punished.

Diplomatically we are doing OK considering we have NO open borders.

TEchs, yes Greece is a definite problem.

Powergraph, not so bad. Understand Greece has infantry, so they are a little tougher to dislodge.

Finally demographics.

Now the plan

Tokugawa has tried to play a peaceful game, but gotta say this is not such a good situation and I believe impossible to launch before Pericles get's a cultural victory. Suliman will help, but we can help more Napolean has that "We have enough on our hands", let's hope he is smart enough to be hitting Pacal or Joao.

Noone else wants to play with Greece.

So I plan to build an army and take those two cities, they are only defended by 1 infantry, easy enough with rifles and cannons. Plus we do have airships.

OK, you all wanted a Japanese war, your going to get it. OK, now let's here some ideas, Toku is waiting and he is not a patient man!

His third city is much slower than the other 2. Only Athens is on the coast.

Understand, there is no regulation that once hostilities begin we have to end. We do have the SoZ, police state, and superior Japanese Warriors. And yes, Toku has had a craving for Pork lately.

How ticked off will the world be if I raze that triple holy city?

EdiT* Does every AI get mad when you burn a holy city or only the civ that owns it? I just burnt down montys holycity and he only gave me a -2 for it no one else did. Does it have to do with them having that state religion?If so i cant imagine the world being that upset.
