ROTQM03: Return of the Quantum Monkies

I could check the save. As Zophos mentioned it will be hard to research anything. We can finish Refrigeration in 624, Rockerty in 780, Ecology 858, Flight 900 or Plastics in 1092 turns, of course extrapolated from our current 12 :science:/turn rate. I suppose we don't need these techs ASAP :D
Our millitary possibilities are interesting. We can build all naval units (from galley to battleship) and all mounted (from immortal to cavalry, at least as soon as we hook up the horse), the top gunpowder units (inf, marine, MG) + tank and artillery but no archery unit or melee unit. No real suprise except the naval and mounted line. Is it a bug or a feature? :crazyeye:
Of course we can and should change civics. I thinking about Univ. suffr. for goldrush if we don't reseach, Bureaucracy, Serfdom for faster workers (we have lot of jungles to chop) until cities grow, than slavery to whip expensive units, Mercantilism.

Very entertaining, gentleman. OK pholk, care to explain why you decided to found Teenyville so far south?

Well, we will still need the requisite resources (Copper, Iron, Coal, Oil, Uranium) to build alot of that stuff. (Jumping to the Modern Era so early kinda takes alot of the mystery out of the resource distribution.)

i think, for now, since we won't know how long we'll be in this time, let's get some Modern Defense...lord knows the AI will be making some modern OFFENSE...

Re: Mr Teenyville ~ I struggled with this. I actually left my computer for 10 mins to think. In the end, it was either between settling for the Corn, Bananas, Gems, and-- whoa, Fox created a DotMap?!? didn't see that but up where the red dot is. Anything in that jungle was worthless for a little while, esp as we had just one worker. The horses, i agree, were a waste for one city. I like that site b/c a)of the resources, b)the hill for defense, and c)it was so far south...i agree that it is very odd that there's been no other AIs around, but at least this city here will keep our capital and surrounding areas safe.

We have iron, coal, uranium inside our cultural borders, oil nearby.

Zoiks! Not bad for having only two settlements! (I must remember to take a peak at the save when I get home!)

as much as i'd like to think they're all down by my wonderfully-chosen 2nd city site, more likely they cover those vast, empty plains surround Chimpsopolis.

lurker's comment:
This is the most entertaining SG read I've seen in a long time. Thanks for the great read, and keep it coming.

Thanks to the lurkers. Feel free to chime in on the story, trash-talk, or whatever. No need for "lurkers comments". Just because you aren't playing doesn't mean you can't be part of it. :)

Now, play faster! :D

You can have it good. You can have it free. You can have it fast. Please pick two of the three. :p

playing and having fun - what about you?

Oook!

No, really, the University Archchancellor gave me permission to go anywhere in the library AND he said that you have to help me.

Oook ook OOOK.

Oh, this is just too much. Look, here ... it says you have to help. Now, what is through this door .....

OOOOOOK .....

oook.

Oh, it is just a plain corridor, no books, no shelves, no nothing.

Oh, it is just a plain corridor, no books, no shelves, no nothing ... nothing except for this giant ape ... arrgggggggggggggggg

[...]

Sir, we found a hu-man and this orangutan in the corridor outside the library. He (pointing to the orangutan) claims to be the librarian of the library and insists that we let him return to the books.

Well, sounds reasonable to me. Where is the hu-man?

[hangs head] He escaped. He whipped out this wand, waved it around a bit and then picked up his gown and fled. We haven't seen him since.

Ok, let the orangutan ...

OOK!

... oh, sorry ... let the Librarian go back to his library and go look for that hu-man.

Oook.

... hmmm, you say the hu-man is called Chris. So what?

[...]

Where the heck am I? Talking apes in uniforms ... One minute I am with the Librarian in Unseen University Library and the next I am in a world where Apes rule. I guess that I am lucky that I got away - the Librarian shouldn't have any trouble fitting in even though he is human. Woooo - what is this, they have human slaves? I'll need to ditch the gown so that I can blend in. And then I can see if I can cause an uprising and free these humans, myself and the Librarian.

[...]

Sir, we have news. A strange cross was seen floating over Chimpsopolis earlier. The hu-man slaves seemed very happy at its appearance. Apparently it has spread from Mr Teenyville where the hu-man slaves have started to listen to the escaped hu-man called Chris. I've also got reports from our exploring party of advanced weaponry in the local hu-man population. Meanwhile, our change in the way we run this small campsite is starting to take effect.

Good - have we shut down all research while we work out the best way forward?

Yes Sir. Actually, Cornelius wants to see you ...

Ok, send him in.

Sir, I really must protest! I need funds to help my research.

Cornelius, my good chimp. Research is good and you know that I support you in that. However, at the moment, I want you to think about the big picture ... think strategically. We need a way of building modern units and buildings while we still can. You did say that these temporal movements might continue. Lucy's idea of whipping the hu-man slaves to build these items, while harsh, is a very good one. The only problem is that we currently don't have enough of them to execute this plan. Thus I have asked you to work on ways of us growing more food, so that we can grow more hu-man slaves so that we can turn them into something actually useful.

... but ...

Your idea of chopping that forest to open the grasslands for farming was brilliant. It also have the side effect of giving us wood to store our food.

Sir, you are right, you are right ... thank you for your kind words. It was all in a day's work. I'll go and oversee the expansion of the farms.

Ooops - I forgot to turn the log back on - played this in two halves. I met a american machine gun down South transporting a settler. I also found a white border down there too - civ unknown at present.

Grow those Hu-mans!

nice writing, wruff! i wonder if our farms will still be chain irrigated after we lose CS?

How did Roosey get a machine gun so fast? He still has to pay something for the upgrade, right? Uggg...Anyone know what the cost of drafting might be? We might want to hold off on a whip for a bit to see if we can grow to a point where we can actually *build* something in this era.

Mr. Chimps: Jojo! Report!
Jojo: Yes, Sir!
I can confirm the roumors about human settlements with advanced weaponry.
In addition we found the traces another human tribe, they call themselves the English.

Mr. Chimps: What else? What about that tribe which is even more barbarian than the other humans?
Jojo: There are two of them, Sir. At least there were. General Urko volunteered to deal with them. We equipped his squadron with the best guns we could get. Human slaves died for this purpose but we could replace them quickly.

Mr. Chimps: Casualties?
Jojo: Are you joking, Sir? They are no match for us :D
Mr. Cimps: OK, OK.

Jojo: Urco went to Mr. Teenyville where Lucy will cure his wounds. After that we got a strange message from a so-called wise man about the most powerful civilization. He calls us hopeless, but of course we think it's rubbish.

Sir, my duty is to inform you about human troops arrived our borders.

Jojo: Our spies reported the other barbarian tribe successfully upgraded its weaponry.
Mr. Chimps: Terrible news, indeed. Not only the approaching human army causes us headache.

Mr. Chimps: Is there any news from our reconnaissance team?
Jojo: They are reporting regularly, not under attack.

Mr. Chimps: What is the millitary situation near Mr. Teenyville?
Jojo: Could be better. Our coal mine was temporaly unprotected and they punished us.

They try to hide themselves in the jungle which sould be our friend, now it is protecting them.

Mr. Teenyville is well defended, we just have to tempt the humans out of the jungle to fight with them with higher chance of triumph.
Mr. Chimps: It seems to me, we a little bit neglected expanding our territory and just produced millitary. It should be balanced up.
Jojo: General Urco insisted on giving him more troops. Our engineers are working on an oil refinery, we will have motorized army soon.
Mr. Chimp: Good, but not enough. Show me some update on the global situation.
Jojo: Yes, Sir!

Mr. Chimps: Huh, never seen anything like that before.
Jojo: Neither do I
Mr. Chimps: No suprise on that...
Jojo: Yes, Sir!
Mr. Chimps: Give me the intelligence report. I will read it later.
Jojo: I waiting for your orders in the communication center.

A city needs a population of 7 and a barracks (I think) before it can draft. Also needs nationhood (which we have but not as an active civ). And the barbarians get additional techs if everyone already knows them (which we do). I hope any possible future temporal even has a tech impact on the barbs too.
