ROTQM03: Return of the Quantum Monkies

Ok, a couple of things - why are we building cottages around our capital? I had started a farm so that we could grow like crazy and then draft or whip in the infantry. I think that we should designate one city as the draft city, build ALL FARMS and the Globe theatre then just draft, draft, draft (oh and whip too) when we find ourselves in the modern era.

The other cities don't look as promising because they don't have rivers. We might want to think about moving the capital so that the current capital can just become draft city.

A very good point.

Also, I hope that the free boat isn't a frigate because those puppies cannot transport units.
No, it's a Galleon. I just have 'Frigates on the brain' leftover from the SG I played last night. :crazyeye:

Actually you have started that  Finished in my turnset.

Good idea, we just need 6 theaters first.

Lucky I didnt' say "what idiot started that cottage!" :D I swear that I meant to start a farm. I'm going back to look at my save.

Lurker's comment:
If you timewarp back to an era you've already been in, will you have any techs you researched when you were previously in that era, or do they all get scrubbed?
(Say you went back to ancient, would you have pottery etc that you researched last time you were there?)

This is a really entertaining game so far. Hope Mr Chimps finds a good use for General Beast. :D

No, i think all techs will be cleared and then we'll be added the appropriate tech-level...so, once we're back to Ancient, we'll need to research them all again...however, there will be no need to research the worker stuff as we'll already have everything built!

All civs get reset to the beginning of the era in question, regardless of which way the timewarp goes. The other way lies madness, especially for me (it would be a TON of bookkeeping).

Am I assuming correctly that any Modern Era units that we or the AI build during the next few turns won't "de-evolve" during time warps to an earlier era? If so, capturing cities founded during the more advance eras is going to be a B*TCH! For example, if we return to the Ancient era, taking cities defended by Infantry or Machine Guns will be next to impossible with Warriors and Archers!

I have a feeling that this game might be harder than I expected...

win or lose, it's the journey that matters. :goodjob:

More and more, i think of SGs as little zen sand gardens...you rake the sand, make pretty designs, and then *whoosh* wipe it clean

Units, improvements, buildings, Wonders, etc. remain intact, but everyone's tech reverts to an earlier era. I honestly have no idea what will happen to build queues and partly-completed items.

So, yes, you may well find yourselves trying to assault Infantry with Swords. :run:

Or facing oncoming Tanks with nothng but a simple spear. :spear:

On the other hand, so might the enemy. :cooool:

build queues, i expect, will behave like they do when you lose a resource ~ you get the "You can not continue building x . . ."

The mismatches, to quote Rex, will be part of the fun!

B/c i'm trying to see if i'm up anywhere . . .

Ruff Hi:
negyvenketto: just played
Lobster Boy: I think he said he's playing tonight

Mr. Chimps: "It's an elephant."

Cornelius: "Aah...Yes, sir. So it would appear."

General Beast: "I AM GENERAL BEAST! COWER BEFORE MY MIGHT!!"

Mr. Chimps: "You conjured us an elephant."

Cornelius: "Yes, sir."

General Beast: "I AM GENERAL BEAST FEAR MY WRATH!"

Mr. Chimps: "But an elephant, Cornelius."

Cornelius: "Um..."

Genearl Beast: "I AM GENERAL BEAST FEAR MY WRATH!"

Mr. Chimps: (glanceing back at General Beast with mild annoyance) "And just what am I supposed to do with it?"

Cornelius: "Well, sir. He is quite majestic! Perhaps we can use him to instill fear into our human enemies?"

Mr. Chimps: (sarcastically) Sure! And maybe if you conjure us some lions and dancing bears we can start a circus!"

General Beast: "I AM GENERAL BEAST FEAR MY WRATH!"

Mr. Chimps: "Look, you loquacious pachyderm, will you stop saying that?"

General Beast: "BUT I AM GENERAL BEAST! I HAVE SMITTEN (...er...smitted?...um...smote...)SMOTE LEGIONS OF HAPLESS ENEMIES BENEATH MY POWERFUL TUSKS!"

Mr. Chimps: "That's swell, General, but how are you against automatic weapons and armor piercing shells?"

General Beast: "Well, I... uh... I AM GENERAL BEAST FEAR MY...uuuh...ungh...AARRGGHH!!"

There is a loud explosion of what sounds like escaping gas, and Mr Chimps and Cornelius are over come by a putrid, noxious smell."

Mr. Chimps: "GREAT GOODALL!!! That smell!!" *gag*

Cornelius: "PEE-EEUUWW" *gak*

After a few minutes to adjust to the stench, the two chimps recover to see a steaming "pile" of elephant excrement beneath General Beast.

General Beast: "Well, pardon me! I guess that time travel didn't agree with that vindaloo I ate following the final siege of Kufah."

Mr. Chimps: "Whoa! If you can do that on command, you might be of some use after all!"

Mr Chimps puts his arm on a dejected Cornelius and begins escorting him towards the door back to his laboratory, where he sees Jo-Jo waiting patiently.

Mr. Chimps: "Look, Cornelius. Don't feel bad. We didn't know what would happen, and we took our shot. And the elephant may be of some use top us afterall. Perhaps with some refinements you can gain more control over this device of yours."

Cornelius walks back to his lab oblivious to Jo-Jo's presence, muttering "Perhaps if I readjusted the pulse emitter, and inverted the quantum potenitator from positive to negative..."

Mr. Chimps looks at General Beast, and back toward the retreating Cornelius, and shakes his head, the trace on an ironic smile on his lips. He motions Jo-Jo to approach.

Mr Chimps: "Report Lieutenant."

Jo-Jo: "Sir, a messanger has just arrived from Mr. Teenyville reporting that the Spanish forces harrassing the city have been smoted...er...smited?...er...eliminated. Mr Teeny sent a vid of the engagement:

Mr. Chimps: "Excellent! Tell the commander of that division that he is promoted a grade. What of our colonization party?"

Jo-Jo: "Sir, the colonists report that they will be ready to leave Mr. Teenyville in the morning."

Mr. Chimps: "Good. Send word that a garrison from Chimpsopolis will meet them near the desginated coordinates. Hopefully we'll be harvesting bananas by summer!"

Jo-Jo: "Very good, sir. Also, Grape Ape reports that the Oil pipeline from Mr. Teenyville is online and the petroleum is flowing. He reports that his engineers have begun work on his new Armored prototype that he described during our last meeting of the general staff."

Mr. Chimps: "Ah yes! Tell him to step on it! Cornelius tells me that that wacky hypotemporal drive of his could act up at any time, and who knows when we'll end up. It would be nice to have those armored forces available after it does."

Jo-Jo: "Yes, sir. I'll see to it. We've also made contact with two other human clans, one particularly barbaric tribe who call themselves the Mongols, and a second as yet unidentified group. Commander Darwin in Astrometric/Geography section has sent the following arial reconaissance photos:

Mr. Chimps: "Anything else lieutenant?"

Jo-Jo: "Yes, sir. A strange, unmanned sailing vessel of some kind was found adrift in the harbor. Helmsman Chim-Chim, has taken command of the ship, and on his own initiative, has begun to explore our Eastern shore. He reports finding numerous Spanish settlements, as well as the Spanish capital. Also, he reports that the missing guards Bubbles and Bobo have been found on a desert island to the North. The two derelicts are on their way back to the Capital."

Mr. Chimps: "Humph. Very well, lieutenant. When those two miscreants arrive, show them to my office, and then find them a couple of toothbrushes and have them clean up this mess!" (gestering toward General Beast) "They are to be confined to the barracks until further notice. And one other thing, find Lucy and have her report to me with some of the salicylic acid concoction she's been raving about. I'm feeling one of my migraines coming on."

Jo-Jo: "Yes, sir. Right away, sir."
