Scion's Lore

and why doesn't Arawn care that he's going to have a coup d'etat on his hands?

Because he's epic-level depressed. As in

"My Lord, the enemy are at the city gates!"
"Mehhh."
"They're breaking down the walls!"
"Mehhh."
"They're looting everything!"
"Mehhh."
Etc.

It's kinda sad, really. And perhaps fitting, the god of death is practically suicidal.

yea but Kyolrin is awesomesauce, and also had the GODSLAYER!

And Laroth is Kylorin's student and likely better at what he does (spirit magic) than Kylorin himself. And while he doesn't have the Godslayer he has an eternity to grow more powerful on the souls he steals from Arawn.

and why doesn't Arawn care that he's going to have a coup d'etat on his hands?

Because that's just the kind of guy he is. Death is impartial and Death is Arawn's nature. Plus he was traumatized by the atrocities the Patrian mages committed using his spheres (Life and Death) during the First Age.

The nature of death is resignation. Life fights on and risks everything for greater goals, while death decides that fighting is too much work and the goals just aren't worth the hassle.
