We all know what with GK expansion villages got a defense boost, so taking them can be problematic at times. Often, it all comes down who can last longer- you attacking forces or city bombarding you down slowly. I just want to share a few tricks one can employ to make this a bit easier.
Bring a few workers with you seigeing army. Having "citizenship" as a policy for your tribe or having pyramids really helps. More likely then not, the squares around enemy village will have some fields or mines improved. So all you do
1. Attack city with melee or archer units.
2. When health of certain units get low, pillage impoverishment to gain 25HP
3. Imideatly repair that improvement with a worker. If you unlocked "citizenship" it repairs the tile right away.
4. Repeat as needed. With several workers doing this you can heal faster then the city bombards you. With a horseman, for example, you can pillage(gain 25HP)-attack-pillage(gain 25HP) all IN ONE TURN!!. :crazyeye:

This strategy gets really crazy with vikings since they don't pay movement points for pillaging.

There is another thread existing about this tactic.

Not game breaking but can be useful sometimes. If your ennemy can't kill a unit in 1 turn he's probably already in great danger ;)

This strategy has an abusive ring to it, but I agree that it can pay off to bring along workers with an army. They can also build temporary roads that can help your units to move around the battlefield more efficiently.

I thought this was going to be suggestion for a unit similar to great general that you can bring that will give strength vs cities bonus to adjacent units.

I thought it was a suggestion that great engineers could give a bonus to siege units only.
