Serving in secret: Being transgender in the US military

I just read this article and was wondering what people think about transgender people serving in the military and transgender people in general.

As a former soldier, I can say I don't care one bit about the gender of the person next to me as long as they are competent at their job and are willing to fight as hard for me as I would for them.

There was something our drill sergeants taught us in basic training: In the Army there are no males or females, there are only soldiers. Now I know there are a lot of soldiers who don't take that teaching seriously (including the drill sergeants who were teaching it), but I did.

That sort of oh-so clever degradation and mockery isn't funny once you understand things like transgendered person suicide rates.

As if he even considers them people, let alone human

So you think its cool to vilify a person coming to terms with their transexuality? You disgust me.

How strong of you to punch downwards and to take a shot at one of the weakest, most disenfranchised groups.

I did no such thing!

That's called being a transvestite, wearing clothes culturally restricted to the other gender. People can be transvestites without being transgender, see Eddie Izzard for example.

Don't mind him. AFAIK, he has a disability that impairs his social skills greatly.

So having transvestite desires impair my social skills greatly because of my disability?

Stop being trannyphobes!

I presume you mean transphobic because the word "tranny" itself is incredibly offensive and transphobic.

No not really. Because transphobic relates to transexuality. You're just far too overly politically correct, just another of those online SJWs that take offense to everything.

And you think people even bother to educate themselves on that difference? It's still a slur.

Are you, or are you just antagonizing useless? Also it's very much the n-word of any trans discussion.

I'm antagonising useless? No, he is antagonizing me.

How am i antagonising you? By calling you out?

I have said many times prior to this thread on CFC that I wish I was a female. So what exactly are you calling me out on?

You obviously just seem to have developed a recent personal vendetta against me, likely for challenging you in your recent feminist thread.

From both that, and this thread, it is clearly obvious to see that you are overly politically correct, and just trying to pick fights and antagonise over tiny things which were in no way offensive to begin with.

Prove that.

I don't have to prove anything to you. How about you prove that I was trying to be offensive?
