HOW THE WORLD HAS CHANGED SINCE 2025
At the start of 2025, there was a solitary great power in the world: The Australasian Empire. Controlling Australia and New Zealand, the Australasian Empire looked to be the successor of the British Empire. As we enter 2027, it is important to look at how much the situation has changed.
Joining the Australasian Empire for the race for influence and power are the Kingdom of Mysore, New Inca Empire, Federal Confederation of the Somali People, and the Amaros Republic. The Kingdom of Mysore, controlling much of the former British Raj, is an arguable rival to the throne with the Australasian Empire, but so far the two empires have seen fit to become close friends and allies.
The New Inca Empire, the great power of South America, has been humbled in recent years due to its defeat in Ecuador. Despite this, the New Inca Empire has amazing economic and military potential. The FCSP, the East African great power, and Amaros Republic, the West African great power, represent the growing power and influence of the African continent.
The United Dioceses of Italy is considered an emerging great power because of its outsized influence in European affairs and growing economic clout. It is conceivable that the UDI joins the circle of great powers before the end of the decade.
The middle powers of the world are the Second Empire of Brasil, Zulu Empire, and Empire of Mexico. All three have suffered military setbacks in recent years, but still hold incredible amounts of economic and military potential. While none may be powerful globally, each holds significant power regionally.
Emerging middle powers include the Levantine Republic, Kingdom of Transjordania, and Great Bulgaria. Notice the pattern? Each country shares the Mediterranean with the United Dioceses of Italy. The Levantine Republic in recent years has been focused on internal consolidation and Caribbean expansion while the Kingdom of Transjordania has largely focused on naval expansion and a failed invasion of the Sinai peninsula. Great Bulgaria has been fairly quiet in recent years, propelled forward by economic clout than any real geopolitical action.
Finally, there are the small powers. A small power is a power with no real global influence, and very limited regional influence. The Kingdom of Madagascar finds itself wedged between two great powers to the north, a middle power to the south, and a third great power to the east. The Empire of China is largely isolated in Asia and its leaders have been politically inactive.
The State of Louisiana is focused on developing the wastelands of the North American continent, which at this moment are not breadwinning provinces. Finally, the Russian Imperial Republic is one of the most isolated empires in the world, making it a very comfortable small power.
REVOLUTION IN ARMY AFFAIRS
Countries with Army II have a new category to put points into: Early Tanks!
Early Tanks (6 IP/30 Gold/3 Gold Upkeep): Early Tanks are slow-moving, powerful, weapons of war.
NEWS FROM ASIA
AUSTRALASIA OPENS DOORS TO MADAGASCAR WHITES. Whites from Madagascar continue to leave the country, now targeting the Australasian Empire as their destination. With these whites comes human and financial capital to propel the Australasian Empire forward. The white exodus is leading to some political elites in Madagascar to demand restrictions on which whites can leave the country or what they can take with them.
EXPLOSION ROCKS MARKET IN CEYLON. SUMATRAN TIGERS CLAIM CREDIT. In the early morning of 9 October 2026, an explosion rocked a market in Ceylon. The Sumatran Tigers, a half-political, half-cultist organization with heavy Christian and Hindu influences, claimed credit. Little was known about the ST prior to the bombing, but afterwards a spokesperson for the group in Aceh declared that the ST will not make a distinction between civilians and the government in its war for the “souls of the world”. The Sumatran Tigers seek to create a radical theocracy stretching from East Timor to Rome.
BRUTAL FIGHTING GRIPS THE SOLOMON ISLANDS. Solomon Islands. The beautiful Solomon Islands have become a scene of intense combat between the Australasian 1st Army, supported by the 1st Fleet, and local resistance forces. The limitations of the great power’s military doctrine became readily apparent throughout the 2026 campaign season. While the empire’s naval doctrine allowed strong coordination between the land and sea forces, the 1st Army is woefully limited in equipment.
Australasian military doctrine is still a massed infantry doctrine. With no artillery support or cavalry screens, and no strong naval bombardment capability, the 1st Army managed to gain some territory, but not seize the province.
MYSORE MOVING PICTURES. A new industry has sprung up seemingly overnight in Bombay province. The government’s art patronage programs have trickled down into several up and coming new mediums, but none other has captured the interest of bureaucrats and the general public like the moving picture. These short five to fifteen minute films consist of silent black and white action assisted by live musical performances. Only time will tell how this industry will develop in the future.
THE ROYAL INDIA AIR COMPANY. Another government funded initiative seeks to jumpstart the kingdom’s domestic airship travel industry. Roads on the India subcontinent are still in a dire state, making long-distance travel an adventure not looked upon kindly by the kingdom’s investors. To this end, the RIAC represents a step around, or should I say above, the problem. Short-distance shipping of cargo is still uneconomical without government assistance, but the future looks bright for the industry.
NAVAL OFFICER TRAINING IN TRANSJORDANIA. The creation of one of the first post-Fall fleets has spurred the Transjordanians to support their growing naval officer corps by revitalizing their training regimen. The measure is proving popular within a navy long seeking this level of professionalism.
BERKSHIRE SPECIAL ADMINISTRATION ZONE. In the town of Berkshire, yet another government initiative is making waves in the international community. The goal of the BSAZ, stated by the government, is to attract foreign investment. Expedited entry, access to credit, low taxes, strict privacy laws, and a supported foreign exchange market are all listed as prime reasons to try out the BSAZ. Attention so far has been light, but international traders are keeping note.
GOD BLESS THE TSAR! A national wave of positive sentiment and public goodwill is sweeping Russia in support of the Tsar.
NEWS FROM AFRICA
THE ETHNIC LIQUIDATION IN NIGER. Niger, Amaros Republic. In this village deep in Niger province, survivors of the Amaros conquest are returning to rebuild what the roaming Amaros armies destroyed. For many, the promise of the Amaros Republic stands diametrically opposed to the reality endured over the last eighteen months.
After the first offensive into Niger province stalled, the Amaros Republic raised two additional armies and threw them into the fray. Scattered reports from inhabitants of the province, and leaks from anonymous Amaros officers to international reporters in the capital, confirmed that rules of engagement were all but eliminated in favor of quick, and brutal, subjugation of the province.
Elected officials and civic organizations are now calling for an investigation. Some elected officials have signaled that the results of the investigations may result in either a call for impeachment or for a legislative challenge calling for early presidential elections.
TRANSJORDANIAN ARMY SURRENDERS IN THE SINAI TO LOCAL FORCES. Sinai, Free Sinai. The former general of the Transjordanian 1st Army led the military parade through Arish showing off the prisoners of war. Free Sinai, as the province now styles itself, has thrown a wrench in the plans of the Transjordanian king’s plans of reaching Egypt with its incredible resistance and canny military prowess.
2025 and 2026 have given us a remarkable number of armies who have attempted to subjugate the “wild” provinces through military force. In the case of core provinces, these subjugations tend to be successful. Troops fight harder and resistance forces are divided. Despite being technologically inferior to the invaders, enough resistance fighters in a non-core province can repel invaders.
The Transjordanian 1st Fleet returns to port soon. Monitor support was not enough to turn the tide of the conflict, nor save the Transjordanian 1st Army.
SOCIALISM WITH X CHARACTERISTICS. Modified Socialism, or National Socialism as it is known in some countries, has spread to a few countries in Africa and Asia. The popularity of the ideology stems from acting as a compromise between socialism and more conservative and reactionary elements in a society. In the Zulu Empire, Kingdom of Maputo, Kingdom of Madagascar, and Kingdom of Mysore, National Socialists are making themselves heard.
NEWS FROM THE AMERICAS
MEXICANS SURRENDER TO TEXANS. HISTORY REPEATS. Texas, Republic of Texas. Yet another civilized army has found itself surrounded and forced to surrender to a technologically inferior, but more numerous, enemy. The self-styled Republic of Texas declared itself independent of both Louisiana and Mexico after its defeat of encroaching Mexican forces.
Louisianans are surprisingly furious about this turn of events, with some pressuring the government to “reassert” authority of the province.
MEXICO HURRICANE RECOVERY SURPASSES EXPECTATIONS. The rapid response of the Mexican government to aid in the rebuilding and recovery of provinces affected by the hurricane has won over locals worried that their damages would be overshadowed by being relatively minor to the damages in Louisiana and Cuba.
FIGHTING INTENSIFIES IN PUERTO RICO. The skirmishes in 2025 have evolved into a full scale Levantine invasion of the province after the Republic purchased the loyalty off Dominicans through infrastructure projects (much of the money being embezzled helps). Puerto Ricans continue to resist on the island, but whether they will be able to holdout in 2027 remains to be seen.
MOVE NORTH! INITIATIVE. The State of Louisiana is implementing a new policy to allocate funding to infrastructure projects in the country’s wasteland provinces. The money is also slotted to encourage families and individuals in Louisiana to move north to settle the wastelands. Funding for the program is small, but some families and persons have already taken up the government’s offer.
THE RISE OF THE PACIFISTS. “Maybe war itself is a bad idea, not just this war.” The sentiment that war is futile is spreading among disenchanted veterans of the conflict in Ecuador. To them, the tens of thousands of lives lost fighting in Ecuador is a sign that the country should refrain from military expansion and reserve the military for peaceful ventures. This has led to a markedly improved public mood.
NEWS FROM EUROPE
TITO SALERI CHOSEN TO BECOME NEXT POPE. Tito Saleri, taking the moniker Pope Innocent XIV, is described by his official biography as a devout and charitable man and former bishop with lots of experience in North African charity outreach and rural development. The reception to the new pope Italian elites has largely been cool.
NATIONALIST WAVE IN ITALY. Italians see themselves as a distinct national group. This type of nationalism, not exactly championed by the theocratic government, nonetheless is playing in the hands of the governments thanks in part to its unification of the peninsula.
POLITICIANS TOUR LEVANTINE, KICKING OFF A “SECULAR CAMPAIGN”. Politicians on all levels of the Levantine Republic, local to federal, are touring regions of the republic alongside prominent Catholic and Protestant figures in a push to build public approval of secularism and reaffirm secularism’s role in the diverse government. The campaign has been modestly successful, despite the absence of a few prominent Catholic politicians and Catholic religious leaders.

MOST ADVANCES EMPIRES ON 1 JANUARY 2027
Technological Powerhouses: Kingdom of Mysore, New Inca Empire, Australasian Empire, Federal Confederation of the Somali People, Amaros Republic
Emerging Powerhouses: Second Empire of Brasil, Empire of Mexico,
MOST DYNAMIC COMMERCIAL ZONES
Global Centers of Commerce: Mysore, Cuzco, Calabar, Rome
Emerging Global Centers of Commerce: Rio de Janeiro, Mogadishu
Major Markets: Eora, Natal
Emerging Major Markets: Palestine, Bulgaria, Mexico
Mysore, Cuzco, Calabar, and Rome are the world’s most important markets. Each of these markets are well-capitalized and dynamic. Rio de Janeiro and Mogadishu are likely candidates for the rank due to their proximity to other powerful markets and strategic locations. Mogadishu in particular has benefited from new trade routes spanning the African interior.
Eora and Natal are considered major markets, for obvious reasons. Eora is a fairly rich commercial zone that connects the great centers of Mysore with Cuzco. Natal, likewise, is strategically located in South Africa.
Soon to join these major markets may be Palestine, Bulgaria, and Mexico. Palestine is a wild card, but as Russia expands, Palestine will act as an intermediate stop for Russian goods and materials. The size of Bulgaria’s economy, combined with trade flowing toward it from Palestine and Kurdistan and its proximity to the Roman market, make it a strong contender to become a major market.
Finally, there is Mexico, a prosperous commercial zone with direct access to markets in Sonora, Louisiana, Cuba, and Rio de Janeiro.
GM NOTES
Just because you put a point into a doctrine doesn’t mean you automatically adopt it. If you have any armies, your army doctrine will not automatically apply. You have to pay the difference in gold cost for an army using the new doctrine and old doctrine. If an army now costs 100 gold, and they use to call 10 gold, you have to pay 10 gold * each army you have * each army you’re building this turn.
If your army use to cost 100 and now costs 90, you still pay 10 per army.
