He put her in a situation where she could be arrested without her knowing it. Even if his acts were a deliberate, justified, non-violent protest against the statists, involving her in his protest without her consent would be wrong.

Let's try to follow the sequence of events.

1) A Nice Lady decides to help someone get from point A to point B.

2) A highwayman stops Nice Lady at the point of a gun with the intent of shaking her down. Why? We are never told.

3) The highwayman discovers her passenger and decides to shake him down too Almost certainly illegally.

4) The highwayman drags said passenger off to be yet more grist for the Prison-Industrial Complex.

5) The highwayman doubles down on his original victim. Because she was a decent human being, she gets further victimized. I have not read any links but I am guessing that the scumbags stole her car.

6) Then OP thinks that the answer to this outrageous attack in decent folk is to "allow private citizens to search each other". Ummm... no. No decent person, Nice Lady being an example, would ever do such a thing. The answer is to stop highwaymen pulling decent folk over on the public highways.
