Oh boy, I'm already slacking on updates. Not good.
Update 2: 1955-1960
More expansion. That was the general theme of this era. All major nations, with only two exceptions, expanded. The Indus Valley Republic crumbled to dust, but a state on the Arabian Peninsula grew, inciting tensions with Israel to the north. Crimea and Tartarstan are the first nations that seem to be interested in an alliance, with trade possible in the near future.

NOTES: I screwed up with Tartarstan sometime in the past. Apparently I missed a province, since they only had 14 on this update. I made up for it with a free province to the west. Likewise, Israel's claims weren't compatible with Mecca, but the line of demarcation gave the province to Mecca. Israel didn't have time to counter the claim before the deadline came, so I gave Israel a northern province to make up for it. But from now on, any conflicting claims will be given to whoever claimed them first.
Also, I screwed up with Tropico as well, forgetting that they're on two continents now. I'll let the past slide by since I missed that myself, but Tropico will require Colony Tech to be able to expand into South America from now on.
Admittedly, I didn't think about the Suez/Panama canals. I'll do this: It is open right now. Ownership is decided by whoever owns both sides of the canal (So right now, Israel and Tropico for Suez and Panama). It allows the Colonialism distance limit and the Navy distance limit to go straight from the Red Sea to the East Med. or from the Caribbean Sea to the NE Pacific. Whoever owns the canal can close it to whoever they wish and open it back up likewise. Hopefully, someone might be a jerk with the Canals so wars get fought and stuff gets interesting.
Also, forgot: Orders are due by 6:30 U.S. Central Time 7/5/11.
I'm happy with that line of demarcation. The Black Sea is our main interest, so it suits our needs fine.
Czar Yaroslav looked down at the city. It was even grander than he'd come to expect. How, he wondered, had the city of Istanbul, or Byzantium as it was now once again known, survived the disasters that had ravaged the world?
That didn't matter anymore. Now, the city belonged to the Crimeans.
Yaroslav watched the quick skirmish as his armies defeated the city-state's small garrison. The city had lasted two thousand years under lesser rulers. It would last even longer in the hands of the Czardom.
Tatarstan's westward expansion has claimed the city of Moscow in the current wave. The Kremelin has been converted into a museum hosting the history of the city, while the Terem Palace is now the seat of government of Moscow Oblast. The military resources found from capturing the general area has been a boon to the Tatar military: the Tatarstani National Militia is now the Tatarstani State Army (though the militia still exists as a branch of the army), while the soldiers are being new equipment with state of the art Soviet equipment.
