Single Player bugs and crashes - After the 24th of February 2014

Just finished.
Gigantic perfect world2f map took 4.5 hours to generate.
Core i5 processor ....

Processor doesnt really matter, its the RAM and most important whether its a 32 or 64 bit.

Pls then information??

Memory usage during map generation is changing only very slightly. The memory used during this phase is only about 420MB. Only when the map is generated and the terrain and models are loaded the memory usage increases. The difference between a large and giant map is only about 100MB when finished (950MB for large vs 1050MB for giant). Map generation afaik is handled in python and is very CPU intensive.

On another note, I've seen 2 out of 7 map generations (PerfectWorld 2f, size did not seem to matter) taking way longer than they should have. Usually memory usage is changing by small KB amounts at least every 30 seconds during the 'setup map' part but in these 2 cases it did not change for more than 5 mins. Maybe the map generation script ran into some kind of loop or other problem. I just kill the process and start new if I ever see this again.

6 gigs RAM and 64 bit vista ultimate.

after playing this generated map for a bit i opened world builder and have seen that map is flat grassland (no seas at all, no mountains, no deserts, no ice) with rivers patterning itself.

Trying now generate another map (tiny size this time) on home laptop and its 15 mins so far. I had more rivers option turned on, tried to turn it off

I wonder if some options in starting new game are broken?

A tiny map should be generated almost instantly or under 1 minute unless it's one of the Core i5s with less than 1.5Ghz. These are for long running time and not for running much in the way of gaming. Which CPU model does the laptop have?

laptop has core2duo 8400.
i just generated tiny map (took 5 or so mins), its again all grassland, no mountains, no seas, no arctic/desert/ and rivers runnins in line from top to bottom and little right.

How long does it take now game to generate gigantic perfect world map?

2 Months ago it took 20-30 mins to generate immense size map. Yesterday after clean update i spent 1 hour waiting to generate, closed application, tried to generate another, waited 3 hours before going to sleep and turning off comp.

Today at work im already waiting 1+ hour to generate map. Im wondering if there is some known bug that prevents generating maps or something else?

A test with PerfectWorld 2f gave me 4-5 mins for huge, 5-6 mins for giant and about 8 mins for gigantic. That is from pressing launch to the first turn. My processor is a AMD Phenom II 550 3.1Ghz.

OK i just tried and ran a Gigantic Map with 7 civs and it took me less than 2 minutes to generate????

So it's not a problem on OUR end.

@ DH

Just looked and gamespeeds have 2 of each gamespeed listed, is it supposed to be that way, or only ONE of each????

SO, i updated yesterday from 2 different comps, and generating on both (laptop - home computer) and notebook on work (one that took 4.5 hours).

ill try updating SVN now and generate again.

hello,

how can I repair bug with art errors? Like 'ART_DEF_UNIT_NATIVE_WARLORD_MEDIEVAL' was not found?

Because when I download SVN version, it doesnt want to load my CvC 34 save files - in the beginning of loading save game there is another art error : ArtInfo : " was not found and ArtInfo : Error was not found. SVN version is from 16.4.2014.

updating helped.

half options from that (yesterday;s) perfectworld2f were missing in game start menu, now all options are in place and map generated correctly and in correct time.

post 1/2 above: That is because your using the SVN copy and you need to find out what Custom Civs are deleted from your game and put them back in.
btw i am going to delete almost all the other ones also, so like only 2 custom civs are there, mostly just for modders.

@ DH

I just tried playing the Gigantic PerfectWorld2f and the resources are scarce on pic 1 on a HUGE island i have only 6 total resources???
On the 2nd pic there are hardly and animals and i am on turn 200 already, i see, only 2 animals in the pic???
I never use PW2f, now i know why, waaaay to much ocean.
Makes me conclude there is something wrong with PerfectWorld2f mapscript>??????

Nah, you were unlucky with resources and starting place. Mine recent gigantic pw2f had LOTS of resources.

This is correct the way it is - the second listings are active under SGT Slick's game option.

In one of my games the following situation happenend:

In the same turn my civilization as first discovered Liberalism and built National Science Foundation. So I should receive two free technologies and choose next to develop. I was asked for first free tech, I've choosen Calculus (0 turns), new tech to develop, I've choosen Constitution (9 turns), and second free tech, I've choosen Physics (which requires Calculus, 0 turns).
Im my subsequent movement phase I've realized that I still have Physics to develop and I was not granted with Great Scientist (as first to discover Physics).

But you cant have 2 of the "exact" same names, the second one needs to be with a 1 on the end, correct??? Like we did with the traits.

@Sparth Egyptian stone throwers are throwing red blobs.

I have had the same thing happen when I built the wonder you get for the Sphinx and Pyramids in the same city and built the Che... - stargazer wonder. Both should give you techs, you are asked for two but you only get one.
