Single Player bugs and crashes - After the 24th of February 2014

the reason you can't build them is because they require the Song of the Sea which is free from the Myth of the Sea which you don't have. The next question is why don't you and why don't those tales let you build it.

Just in case I wasn't clear, I can't build Myth of Sea with any of my Tales...
Could this be related to the fact that my cities are near tropical coast (not ordinary coasts)?

Didn't I just fix that? Ooops, I forgot to sync with my test version before the last update.

Yeah, because alberts2 had to fix one that I fixed before also.:p

Yes, I just noticed this also. You don't want to know the number of times I have had to fix these screens only to have them go astray again later. It was fine a couple of versions ago.

For completion, I got a Pinguin which was able to build the Myth of Sea. Still, the Tales are still not able to build the animal myths (the button does not even appear).

Getting a repeatable end of turn crash on SVN 7336.

Spent some time looking into this.
1) PLEASE DO NOT RENAME YOUR MOD FILE TO ANYTHING BUT Caveman2Cosmos EVER PLEASE - very annoying when you have to debug these saves!

2) I was having extreme difficulty getting breakpoints to work on this so I recompiled a new dll (may have had something to do with a differently named mod?) and deleted the cache.

3) When trying to load the game when attached to process as it regenerates a cache file there's about 6 million art errors - they might've been popping up as a result of some other errors in the xml loading sequence that would be something for Alberts to look into as they were way beyond my understanding.

4) The next attempt to load I didn't attach to process so I just let it run and it went through fine. But then your game still crashes at the same point - which is taking place in the EXE after 'AI_Update for unit 1089558 of owner 1'.

5) I managed to find that after all this breakpoints were working again so I stopped the process at that ai update call for that unit and stepped through everything in the dll - it processes out just fine then crashes when it returns to the exe after all dll based turn updates (for that player at least) have run.

6) My suspicion is that an art reference may be missing for that unit or for something else later on and that we may need some help from Alberts to figure out what the hell I was seeing taking place in the xml load process that was causing some things to not load properly - this is just as likely a problem with some things in the xml being erroneous. Nevertheless, I don't know how to follow the error messages to be any help with them at this point.

7) This means this save is completely beyond my ability to debug further but it IS a sign of some problems. You might try deleting some of Arabia's units to get past it. I dunno...

I can see no reason why you can't build them. They are appearing in the Pedia aren't they?

Yes, with the right prerequisite and all (I spent quite a lot of time looking at civ entries for the Tales animals as well as sea animal myths without understanding what was happening).

before my latest update fro the SVN I was able to build all the buildings but now I can only see the Myth of the Sea on those units and you can't even see that! I'll do some more investigation.

Thanks for putting so much time into this, I'm thinking it probably has alot to do with two or three civs (including Arabia) having originally been one of the civs that got deleted a few weeks ago. After they switched over to the new civs everything seemed fine, but maybe the last few svn updates that cleaned up unused files deleted some art resources they were still using. I guess I'll jut start a new game, this one turned out to be kind of boring anyway since everyone stated on the same continent.

.

When someone re-names the main folder, C2C does NOT deam necessary to even look at it, ok. We cant afford time like this to try to fix stuff, that was not made correctly by the consumer.
When they change the name it messes ALOT of stuff up, XML, python, and even C++ stuff not correctly acting correctly together, IMO.
Just words to work by ok, no offense to anyone.

I agree - not calling it "Caveman2Cosmos" can cause errors.

I noticed this sometime ago, when I named a new folder "c2c" - to export a new SVN version. I got xml parsing errors on starting a new game. Changing it to "Caveman2Cosmos" got rid of those errors.

Thanks SO for fixing Buffalo Hump.

7340: Narbona and Po Ngbe are in the pedia but as TXT_KEY_LEADER_... Apart from that they have complete pedia entries.

Cochise is in the pedia but with nothing on his page.

AMENDED: My bad: Po Ngbe's pedia entry is complete, but Narbona's is like Cochise's

ETA: The resources page of the Foreign Advisor apparently can't handle how many tradeable resources I've got: see attached

ETA encore une fois: see 2nd screenie for the error msg I'm getting upon first loading my save in 7340. Upon reflection, it's probably cos my civ is missing, but just letting you know anyway.

today I dowloaded the last C2C and copied it over the former version I had.
it crashes:

btw: in the package top folder are some files belonging to Apache. Looks for me not correct.

like the README.txt:
"This is a Subversion repository; use the 'svnadmin' and 'svnlook'
tools to examine it. Do not add, delete, or modify files here
unless you know how to avoid corrupting the repository.

Visit http://subversion.apache.org/ for more information."

What do Apache files in a comprerssed file for Windows ?

btw 2:
the download link here points to a 2008 version, not to the last '34

the version I downloaded (and what crashed) today was from
http://www.moddb.com/mods/caveman2cosmos/downloads/caveman2cosmos-v34

I forgot to include the logs last time, they are in now. This is a repeating game breaking CTD, so I'm interested in knowing what is causing it. Now it happens with SVN 7343.

Don't copy over. Some files are removed or moved around when changed and keeping old files when installing a new version is bound to cause trouble.
Rename or move the old folder and copy the new version into it's own brand new Caveman2Cosmos folder.
Like God-Emperor stated in the other thread UserSetting files can be copied from the old to the new, changed files you want to keep can also be copied back in once you have the new version in it's own folder.

Cheers
