Single Player bugs and crashes - After the 24th of February 2014

Repeatable CTD when moving an outrigger.

Attached is the savefile (just move the outrigger on the bottom-right, about 3 tiles away) and the minidump.
Ok... will look into this this weekend if I'm not beat to the punch.
@ TB

OK i have the 5 Sharpshooters authorized and none of them hit the vessel and i have the ranged attacked at level 3 also???
So at level 3 they still dont hit a target?
THANK YOU! I'm quite intrigued to see why they're coming across so weakly in their ability to hit. I know cities can really put up a much tougher target for Ranged Assault but I don't want them to make such attacks worthless.

What city were you attacking? (or plot? if it's a plot and they're missing while they have those promos then there's got to be a serious bug in the eval!)

It wasn't a city, i tried to hurt the vessels like i said.

As I posted this in the wrong thread - and got my wrist slapped - here it is again:

SVN 7461.

I have an orchard on a tile with Spices and a mud path next to a city. But Spices do not show up in the city list of resources.

@Harrier

Sorry for slapping your wrist.. :mischief:
Spices can be traded after Spice Trade tech. Did you research it? In my test, spices appeared on the city screen with Spice Trade.

Well... nothing wrong with the orchard itself. Just checked the xml since I'm into it right now.

@SO: Wow... ok I will look into that as soon as I'm done with all these xml tweaks and get back into the code mindframe which looks like it'll be one day's more effort so by the end of tomorrow I'm thinking.

@TB:
I too have experienced weak accuracy with ranged assault; after you upped it with 25%, I've missed around 15 times and just stopped using it altogether. I've actually never hit anyone since this feature got introduced...

Also, you might want to tone down evasion on sea animals, I've got dozens of combats against a handful of cods/belugas and the like with an outrigger with Hunter II, I think I managed to kill two of them (combats were always with the same animals, they just retreat in high sea, then attack, evade, etc. endlessly).

Urgh... those plunder messages are a pain in the arse! Thanks though.

Have you tried giving your ships any pursuit?

Another one, with the nationality in the second message:

No, they aren't experienced enough to gain promotions (since they can't kill anything) ;) I picked Sea Hunter as my first two promotions in hope they'd do more damage before the animal escapes.

What would be the value of pursuit if you don't need it to keep that from happening so easily then?

Well, it's just a matter of how you define "easy"... Other animals do have escape and use it regularly (eagles come to mind), but you have a chance to get them at some point. Sea animals are just... too slippery to even have a chance to kill them after your 5th, sometimes 10th battle against the same one.

Getting back to the Ranged Attack Assault, ok after alot of promotions, the units are getting way better at this, bu tit takes all the ranged ones, plus some "combat" strength ones that make it work alot better.

EDIT: @ TB, i just looked and i made a mistake on the wording, i was meaning to say Ranged "Assault" not attack, but only 1 title away and not 2, 2 its the same, missing alot the time(over 40%), any ways my bad.

It looks like the myths of various sea animals do not require a Palace, so they can be built multiple times in different cities. Is this intended?
OTOH, if they require a Palace, you won't be able to get them if your capital is not coastal (though my initial settler is always generated near a coast for some reason).

though my initial settler is always generated near a coast for some reason.

Low probability for spawning in-land and I think it's an intended part of the spawning code. I've experienced that it happens in like 1 of 30 games and it's probably dependent on the land to coast ratio due to that area increases twice that of circumference lenght; math).

Edit:
Probably I didn't put my question right... When hovering over my unit in city build view(or any view in fact) I get this: http://i60.tinypic.com/34yvjnk.jpg
(Solid yellow area is the place of mouseover)
As it's not possible to use shift/alt/ctrl where shown in the quotes linked picture, and if at all possible, it should show some unit info instead.

EditEdit: I noticed that the combat odds window, when holding shift for advanced odds info, shows all unit classes of attacker and defender; this usually crops the window at the top as every unit has a lot of classes.

Tyvm for the reply and welcoming, i cant try if it fixes it right now but hopefully it will.
Also thanks for all the effort put into this mod, it sure is great :)

To take down birds which can't be pursued (if playing both combat mod options) it's almost a must to have first strike. Fishy units are tough to catch without either pursuit OR first strike - first strike makes it possible because those attacks are made before the withdrawal can take place and its usually really small creatures that are THAT tough to keep from withdrawing so a single attack that hits may be enough to take it down.

Equipment will help too... fishing nets will give a boat an automatic strong pursuit bonus against many naval animal types.

Still... pursuit pursuit pursuit... it's not worth less than strength in many cases. I've actually now added a unit entirely specialized in pursuit to my small naval stacks in the early game for this reason.

And on land, hunting units are naturally already pretty good with it (though can still use some further development on it.)

Getting back to the Ranged Attack Assault, ok after alot of promotions, the units are getting way better at this, bu tit takes all the ranged ones, plus some "combat" strength ones that make it work alot better.

Yeah, I realize something is probably a little off from intention on the calculation there. I was wondering if ANY attacks are hitting though so it's a good thing to know they can. I'll just have to figure out what's making the difficulty level go up further than I think it should be. (And I suppose it COULD just be REALLY bad luck too but I really don't think so.)

That's interesting. I just checked the mine xml and it shows sulphur on all versions and upgrades of the mine as being accessed so I'm wondering if it could be something... else.

They are done in Python. I did change one to not give the nation if the winner had hidden nationality. Looks like I did not get them all.

They never required a palace for the very reason that your capital may not be on the coast. They used to requires the Myth of the Sea which is a pseudo national wonder. That requirement was changed to Song of the Sea in v34 so many cities could build them. It has been suggested that we go back to only allowing one myth for each sea critter by making them pseudo national wonders also.

Also @ DH???

As mentioned when we got unique small icons for each resource - there is something wrong somewhere in displaying them in the city screen. The small icons work fine in the hover over so it is probably a limit to an array in the Python.
