Single Player bugs and crashes v36 plus (SVN) - After the 24th of October 2015

Good, it was unexpected, but interesting. It opens many interesting strategies.

It's not due to the criminals being in the city that it becomes barbarian but due to the hidden nationality of the strike team you're using to capture the city.

@SO: Thanks for the bug reports... will look into those as soon as I can.

It seems that the problem begins with the appearance of the city of Neanderthals. Now I try a new game (the fifth) without cities of Neanderthals. Usually the game does not crash, only after having closed you can no longer read the files saved.

ok this new SVN update recovered 8 CTD's, this is the only one that is still CTDing, sorry :( .. . .

(I only played 1 turn, so didnt really go any further, just got past most of the CTDs is all, so thx on that, WELL till next time, lol, and again THX) .. .SO

what was the major malfunction, in simple terms, pls, :mischief:
I fixed the problem earlier but didn't realize at the time that the problem would re-emerge with every load and that although I had solved it for the first time it emerged in a game, each time the game was loaded thereafter it would cause a crash. So I just had to change the condition so that it would take corrective action on each load rather than just the first time the city was seen. It had to do with graphic initialization of cities and I was hoping that it would also clear up the neanderthal city visual issues but apparently not.

This one is due to a unit combat animation going wrong. I need a little more analysis to determine what units are involved.

EDIT: Could be deeper still. It looks like it's been sent to the animation without clear definitions as to the units in combat so this may be more than meets the eye taking place here.

Perhaps it's because I'm using an SSD but my turns have an average of 5 seconds throughout the prehistoric on a giant map. first turn is usually 1-3 seconds. I haven't played later eras in a while so I can't speak for those.

Hi, I posted the report on a turnloading test i performed earlier. (A few post before yours)
My test was performed with having the game installed on a regular disc. But I do have an SSD aswell. I will reinstall civ IV and C2C on the SS disc and see if i experience any difference.
Could be a good test to do.

Any way, it feels like it goes about 10% faster now the two weeks ago. But I have not tested it for real, just a feeling.

If the disc don´t make a difference, there might be some help on the world wide web , or someone, about speeding up the calculations for the python code.

Perhaps you are using, or rather not using some of the submods. There is a chance that there is just some of the submods that are making the calculations between turns longer.
An comparison between what submods you are using with what others are using might reveal some information.

Otherwise i am thinking on testing with alot of civs on a smaller map, then fewer civs on a larger map. And then compare turn loading time.
That might reveal if it is the calculations of units and tile updating rather then AI civs doings that are making the larger difference in calculation time.

It could be good idea to find out where the problem is before alot of work is put in to it.

One thing that i have noticed though is that when an AI civ is starting an diplomacy conversation with you, the loading time is about 5 seconds for that.

Note: I have not yet performed the same loading time test with civ and C2C on a solid state disc yet. Will do it soon, I have one.

The two earlier posts are for everyone to read (If interested), not just Toffer.

Perhaps the loading time issue is easier to fix then what it seems. I don´t think its a question about how many buildings there are to build, or tecs to reasearch. I actually don´t even think that the promotions on unit really makes a difference either. So I am positive that this can be fixed without messing with the mod that we all love.
We just need to make some digging :)

That ctd is due to a jet bomber animation problem.

However, since I have little patience for bug repairs I can do nothing about and which keep coming up to distract my time to look into them, I've simply disabled the animation call that was causing trouble here. Once I get indication that these bad animations are going to be further investigated by someone who knows animation issues better than I do I'm happy to turn them back on so they can be hashed out. Till then I can do nothing but this to ensure stability.

Hate to do this to ya, but that same savedgame STILL CTD's, sorry . . .

(on a side note it did have better turn results by 3-4 seconds)at least on this one save i play .

Just edit your original post. Having said that - I have done it myself sometimes.
