Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

Oblivion was all about the awesome graphics when it first came out, and to me it seems pretty obvious compared to morrowind that with oblivion they turned focus away from world depth and gameplay to attract people with omgawesome visuals.

Thankfully it seems it's not that way this time. Kind of a good side of games being made on old engines.

When I say TES, the first game that comes to mind is Morrowind. I even played Oblivion before Morrowind.

My computer doesn't meet the minimum.

Well, Skyrim minimum is 2 GHz dual-core/ GeForce 7600 GT. It's quite close to Xbox360 hardware. In fact, some say that the Xbox GPU (which is the most important part) is equal to 7800GT. No wonder your computer can't run games better than Xbox if it hasn't got more power.

I thought the minimum was higher than that, but I don't think my computer would be able to run it that well as it only just passes the minimum. What's strange is that for almost every game I played on the Xbox 360, it runs better on my computer.

Wait, 7600? I have a 7600.

If I had more than 5GB of remaining HD space, I could probably play Skyrim.

My computer is about 0,75 year(s) old, but according to what I know, I should be able to run the recommended specs.
There may be problems, but it should just about be coverable.

I have a 9800 GT. I got that two years ago and I think it's the part that needs replacing the most.

I don't know why I said 7600 now. I don't recommend playing on min reqs (because the game will look and possibly play terrible) but you have a three year old comptuer that doesn't meet these?

* OS: 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
* CPU: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
* RAM: 2 GB
* HDD: 6 GB
* Graphics: 512 MB card
* Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible
* DirectX: Version 9.0c
* Internet for Steam activation

My chief worry out of all those is the CPU. I know it says "or equivalent", and everything I've seen says that a quad core AMD-A6 is in fact (more than) equivalent even it only records 1.4GHz, but still I'm hung up on that number.

Really wish there was a demo (or a demo of a game with equivalent requirements) I could try out.

My Q6600 CPU is at 2.4gz and I only have 4 GB of RAM too, but I'm still running everything on high (BF3 is a mix of high and medium, but that is because a couple of settings are a little buggy when on high, like one of the shadows). Although I have a GTX 260 with 1 gig of RAM. I have no doubt it will run Skyrim just fine.

I just wonder if my crossfired HD6950's and 3.8Ghz 6 core will manage.

Back to Skyrim, there had better be a physical paper map with the game or imma freak out. This is going to be the first game in a long time I buy a physical copy of. I have my original Morrowind map right beside me, and also the oblivion map and gold coin lying around somewhere.

Man, that map brings back memories. I remember when I bought it and I had never heard of it, was one of the first games I actually bought myself and with my own money. I had never really played much else than strategy and fps games so it was a total shot in the dark, no idea what to expect. I go outside the shop and find out I have to wait to be picked up by my family, so I open the case and out comes this map and I was in total awe. Stood there right in the street for probably 30 minutes just examining the map thinking how cool it would be if I could actually explore anywhere I want throughout that whole world.
