Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

Good lord, this. The "Misc" tab was especially horrible.

I really hope the barter screen, when interacting with a merchant, is more like Morrowind's. Even the latest Fallouts had a better merchant screen than Oblivion. I like being able to trade items straight up w/out any coin changing hands.

So... many... keys... scrolls... help...

Yes I did, I just didn't address it in detail. I didn't really like Oblivion's UI, even some of the fantasy elements I thought were poorly done.

Still not sure you did :undecide:

The inventory in Skyrim looks like it doesn't belong in a game, but on a Playstation OS.

Yep, partly waht I'm sayin...

Not talking about the way it functions, grid, scrolling, categories, how much stuff you see on the screen etc. But rather the font style, letters and such, colors...

Like um.. for a quick lame example. Not:

Weapons
Armor
Potions

...and looking like a simple PSX menu,

But rather:

"Weapons"
"Armor"
"Potions"

...looking like it belongs into a fantasy game. With more fitting colors and styles etc.

That's the most simple way of putting my point I can think of. :crazyeye:

ESRB rating of [M]ature

Content descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Use of Alcohol

Rating summary: This is a fantasy role-playing game in which players assume the role of Dovakin, a prophesied figure with the power to combat dragons in the fictional world of Skyrim. As players traverse through mountainous open-world environments, they complete missions and quests that impact the eventual fate of their character. Players use swords, bows and arrows, axes, and magic attacks (e.g., fireballs, ice shards) to kill various enemies (e.g., wolves, dragons, human bandits and soldiers). As players engage in melee-style combat, some sequences are highlighted by slow-motion effects, particularly for decapitations. Large blood-splatter effects also occur during combat, and some environments are stained with blood or body parts (e.g., heads impaled on spikes). Some sequences allow players to injure/kill nonadversary characters, including prisoners chained to a wall; they scream in pain amid splashes of blood or fire. As the game progresses, the dialogue and on-screen text contains references to sexual material (e.g., “. . . all the whores your heart, or any other organ, desires,” “She . . . raped the men as cruelly as Bal had ravished her,” and “Remember when you thought [he] was . . . intent on making you . . . into his personal sex slave?”). Alcohol such as wine, mead, and ale can be purchased and consumed by players' character throughout the game; and in one sequence, players can engage in a drinking contest with another character, which eventually results in slurred speech (e.g., “One more. No problemsh . . . Thash grape!”).

So, pretty much your standard fantasy stuff then. Kind of tame in my opinion.

Yay, drinking contest :p

Skyrim has a very improved AI system. For example, if you are fighting 3 bandits, killing 2 of them might scare the last one making him flee. <-- So just like Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion and Morrowind.

Necromancers will be able to resurrect any terrestrial animal including chickens. You can also harvest their eggs.

Necromancers will also be able to summon a “Khajit Warrior.” It is unclear at the moment if it is conjured or resurrected.

Leveling up gives you 10 extra points that you can either add to health, magicka or stamina. <-- I'm not sure I like this.

Stolen horses will not be loyal to you. You might wake up to find themselves running away from you. You would not want to be left without a horse in a such a massive world. <-- Why the hell would a purchased horse be any more loyal to you? Maybe if you stole someone's specific and personal horse, but what if it is just from a field?

Spriggans are capable of healing themselves and resurrect after dying.

Bandits roll boulders on to you off bridges and mountains. <-- Awesome :D

Town Guards collect bounty for all your stolen horses at the city gates. If you don’t pay up, you know what is waiting for you. <-- How the bloody freaking hell would they know about every horse I have stolen?

You can save the game anywhere. There are no checkpoints to save the game. Three different types of save options are available. <-- This should go without saying.

Autosaves can be set to intervals (5, 10, 15 and etc) and will alternate the saves automatically between three slots. Sleeping and waiting also automatically saves the game. <-- Awesome :D

Children are a part of the game but you will not be able to attack them. (cruel) <-- They had better make the children properly and not a bunch of irritating you just want to murder like they did in Fallout 3. I also hope they aren't capable of attacking you either.

There is no hardcore mode for the game. <-- Eh, mods will fix that.

Finishing moves happen randomly. They are not under the control of the player.

Terrain is not destructible. <- Boooo!

Crafting enchanted armors and weapons is a possibility in the game. You can either do it yourself or buy it from shops. Doing it yourself is cheaper but there are good chances that the weapons you find will be better than those you can craft.

You can equip weapons and magic in either of the hands. Shields, torches and bows can only be equipped in your left hand.

There will be various difficulty settings in the game.

Sub-titles are available for every dialog that has been recorded for the game.

Button mapping is enabled. <-- This also should go without saying, I mean come on.

There is a perk in the game for one-handed weapons that will allow you to decapitate your enemy. <-- Sweet!

The HUD’s opacity can be manually adjusted. It can be totally lowered to hide the compass, stat bars and more to give a total cinematic view.

The persuasion skill system and method will be similar to that of in Fallout 3.

Alchemy cannot be done on the move anymore. You will need to be a in a laboratory with equipment to perform your experiments.

If you gather flowers from a plant, the flowers disappear from the plant. (no idea what that exactly means) <-- Seriously? You have no idea what that means? Really? No, really?

That kind of pseudo medieval font is probably considered old-fashioned in games. It brings to mind classical PC RPGs like Ultimas and Baldur's Gates. You don't see that kind of fonts much in contemporary fantasy games like Dragon Age 2, The Witcher 2 etc.

I love how we're proud of "features" that are basic functionalities I expect in every new game (and somehow fail to be delivered in every new game). "You can save everywhere", "button mapping" and "flexible autosaves with multiple slots" ...

Also, about the boulders being rolled down on you by bandits, I hope there is a significant cue that this is happening. Otherwise it's gonna be about as fun as being attacked by cliff racers. "Oh look, a flower... how pret... SKREEEEEEEE"

Also, death to omniscient authority.

HTML:
"dialogue and on-screen text contains references to sexual material"

That's it? Bethesda grow some balls... Not requesting sex scenes here, not the point here (that's modder's job anyway), but make sexuality meaningful for once... Not simply some kindergarten immature pay 50 caps for absolutely nothing that has no impact whatsoever on anything...

Some of the stuff are depressing while some are damn obvious...

Hold on a second. What's wrong with classical PC RPGs, besides the fact that I've only played like two?

Subbed for further information in the future.
The game looks pretty good. I'm wondering if my computer can run it properly if it can run Portal 2 but we'll just wait to see.
Also, dynamic boss-fights are among the best out there. :D

I hope they've redone the faction interactions in game. There are several times in Fallout and Oblivion where your talking to someone of a faction that hates you but he still tells you everything you want to know, and in some cases just spills his guts when you make a such a simple skill check that not even a level 1 PC would fail.
Example: NPC "I know who you are and if we were anywhere else I would gut you like a fish"
PC "So what's your job in all this?"
NPC"I'm here to make sure everyone does as they are told, and gets the job done. That's all that matters cause once the work is complete I'm going to betray everyone in this sleepy little village and then sell my soul to the devil to become overlord of this land. But don't tell anyone, it's a secret."

There is no hardcore mode for the game
Well that sucks, hopefully a mod comes out right away for it. Or maybe they'll patch it in later. That option is probably my favourite thing about New Vegas(I know different company)

Stolen horses will not be loyal to you. You might wake up to find themselves running away from you. You would not want to be left without a horse in a such a massive world.

Thought they were getting rid of the all knowing guards?

Children are a part of the game but you will not be able to attack them. (cruel) <-- They had better make the children properly and not a bunch of irritating you just want to murder like they did in Fallout 3. I also hope they aren't capable of attacking you either.

I don't mind that you can't kill them(infact I prefer it) but when I go on a killing spree in a village I think instead of turning the village into a ghost town, save for a couple of kids acting like nothing happend, I would have the kids just disappear and never spawn again.

I would also like it if the NPCs were smart enough to realize that your doing something suspicious(like casing a place or doing some B&E on a place but leaving all the locked doors wind open behind you) and either tail you or call the authorities.
And if the game has a karma system redo it so I don't get bad karma for stealing something from the BAD GUYS

Argonians seem OP, especially for a guy who likes to hold on to special abilities etc in case I get in over my head... and even then, I still hold on to them in case an even bigger robot crab is around the corner.

Of course, they used to have resist poison and immune to disease, so I guess health regen comes at a cost.

Alteration's third perk is AMAZING. So is that enchant recharge. That'll save a lot of money.

Heavy armor is OP all over the place.
