TURN 14
Aiweh scientists achieve further amazing breakthroughs in the fields of genetic research, while Aiweh engineers develop a new, secretive project in orbit of the home world. A massive vessel, designed for stealth and extended long-range operations, the carrier craft begins its test runs through the home system. Though no immediate purpose is evident, Aiweh politicians assure those that are aware of the project that it will not be a needless expendature of resources.
The Bako Tellians attempt to communicate with the Skul'agra once more, scrapping plans to recapture the Tounis colony. The populace shows its displeasure at this sign of weakness, which seems to meet with little results, as the Skul'agra remain silent.
Capricocial merchants are permitted to operate in Myzokan space, leading to the formation of a trade route between the two growing empires. Meanwhile, the mysterious race known as the Kant manage to communicate to some degree, warning the Capricocials of the Phleghesh threat mere weeks before the arrival of a Phleghesh carrier. Though the Capricocials seem disinterested in combat, likely stunned by this alien battle in their home system, the Kant and Phleghesh engage each other. It is obvious to Capricocial observers that these two species are familiar with combating each other, as neither side seems to fumble in its tactics. Though it seems that the Kant begin to lose, dozens Phleghesh fighters break off to engage the Capricocial ships in-system, drawing them into the battle. With the added firepower turned against them, the Phleghesh carrier is eventually driven off, leaving many fighter craft behind to fend for themselves. The Capricocials offer a truce, though the Kant make this impossible, destroying every last one. In the aftermath of this battle, the Capricocials are left stunned, and an awkward silence rises between them and the Kant.
The Distopteran Hive Ship ventures toward Satellian space, arriving nearby to the Ulann colony, home to many Satellians and Hletho alike. The arrival is a slight surprise, particularly for the Satellians, though the assurances of the Hletho ease them quite a bit. The copious amounts of merchant traffic in the system is redirected about, as the sheer size and gravitation influence of the Hive demands recalculations of fuel usage and trajectory within the system. With the help of the Hletho, communication between the Distopterans and the Satellians should be rather easy.
Meanwhile, the Nekopterans begin launching rockets, many unmanned, into orbit carrying supplies and equipment. Over the course of the year, a moderately-sized and fairly efficient shipyard is assembled, fully supplied and crewed for future construction. Though no projects have begun just yet, many designs are being mulled over carefully, particularly involving new technical designs freshly researched within the colony.
Hletho colonies experience a rush of settlers, expanding cities and industries, new hydroponics and farming facilities, the whole deal. The power of the Thaej Alliance has drawn in millions more than it had previously, leading to this surge as well as the growth of its power on the home world as well. Included in this colonial surge is the settling of the dominant world, Mirid, in the Warkhad system. Amidst the ruins of the automaton facilities and outposts, and the glassy wastelands left behind by the Lelinthians, these Hlethan settlers find themselves in a fairly disturbing setting to make a home in. Elsewhere, a new military fleet enters its test phase in the home system, and thankfully so, as the fleet centered around the
Hrkan meets with a fearsome foe. At first, the object appeared to be a massive piece of debris, though once it began emitting copious amounts of light and the Hlethan crew began to suddenly drop dead, it became obvious that it was some form of threat. Though no reasoning could be reach, they concluded that they were under attack. Attempting to merely disrupt the object with weapons fire seemed to do very little, and more and more crew members died, leaving duty posts empty and ship systems failing. With little choice, the fleet ran away.
The Okum Kant prepare a new grouping of combative forces, and just in time to meet a prowling Phleghesh carrier in battle. Though inexperienced, the new fleet manages to pull through the fight with the assistance of the experienced White Fleet, leading to a hard-fought and costly victory. Though the Phleghesh carrier managed to escape, the Okum Kant feel confident in their success. Elsewhere, the diversionary Red Fleet, having accidently lead a Phleghesh carrier right to the Capricocial home world, engages the pursuing vessel as well as it can. Though seemingly losing at first, the Capricocials are drawn into the fight, barely tipping the scale in the defending forces favor and causing the carrier to break and fleet.
Meanwhile, the Shadow Kant arrive in a fairly pleasant system, bearing a habitable world with a fair quantity of available resources. While scouting the system, several units disappear, and upon further investigation, a massive rift in space-time is located on the fringes of the system, gravitationally bound to the parent star. Wary, the Shadow Kant keep away, preparing to settle in on their new home, while plotting a means of using this anomaly to protect themselves from possible Phleghesh attack.
The Lelinthians conclude their occupation of the Vurdu, leading to the full incorporation of the world and its populace into the Lelinthian-guided workforce. Alongside the Culud, these natives begin producing equipment for export, as well as mechanisms intended for local use. Though not nearly as productive or dedicated as the Culud, the Vurdu appear to be quickly turning into a worthwhile acquisition.
The Myzokans negotiate a deal with the Capricocials, arranging for the establishment of a trade route between colonies and leading to a greater demand for civilian cargo transport, overall leading to a great increase of material wealth for both civilization. After much effort, the language barrier is cracked between the Myzokan explorers on the
Galta and the Sanctum Kant refugees. After the initial greetings are made, the Kant begin to warn that the Myzokans should turn back and not explore further in this direction, explaining their situation and the nature of their enemies, the Phleghesh. The warning seems to not have caused a strong enough impact, as Myzokan colonists arrive in the system, settling the dominant worlds and outlying moons to begin harvesting resources for export. Slightly perturbed, the Sanctum Kant begin requesting to stay in the system, at least temporarily, in the event that the Phleghesh might arrive. They offer considerable amounts of knowledge on Phleghesh tactics and weaponry, as up-to-date as they have available, in exchange.
Nhroaat colonists re-establish the Krensht colony, warily sifting through the remains left behind following the Space Crystal attack. Elsewhere, the massive armada assembled at the home world arrive in the same system as the feared Space Crystal, and unbeknownst to the Nhroaat, the Hlethan fleet centered around the
Hrkan had only recently escaped the system. Engaging the Space Crystal, the battle rages for several hours, though ultimately the Nhroaat still can't quite overcome the vast power of the beast. With the loss of dozens of ships, the remaining two fleets of the armada turn and run.
Orindi scientists make further breakthroughs, and meanwhile, a new city-ship is constructed as a joint effort of the existing four. With a greater ease on their orbital population, the Orindi begin to consider their future...
The Phleghesh concentrate on expanding their colonial foundations, becoming slightly arrogant in their ability to crush all opposition. Though they have yet to engage the Raer again, they pursue the Ulmans Kungs further into their space, sending two fleets to engage their hastily-built military expedition. The battle goes exceedingly well for the Phleghesh, with minimal damage to their forces and an overwhelming defeat of the alien threat. Without difficulty, they eliminate the population in-system and prepare to move on. Elsewhere, the forces assigned to pursue the Kant meet surprising defeats, first in the Okum system against two swarms of Kant warriors, and another battle in an alien system. Though not entirely defeated, the two seperate carriers escaped before the battle turned particularly bad and reported back to a shocked council that the Kant remained a threat.
Pohm colonial investments are spread by the many nations of the home world, and each colony slowly grows little by little. Scientists uncover amazing new technologies which quickly disseminate amongst the nations, of particular note being the new weapon systems inspire by alien contact and local political threats alike. These new weapons only serve to increase the tension, and many Pohm political leaders are becoming ever more paranoid about the future of warfare.
The Satellians launch a heavily-protected colonial exploration mission dangerously close to Geskani space, and though nothing is settled just yet, a promising system is located. Another colonial expedition is sent onboard one of the older Combat Fleets, leading to a new colony named Hofuue. Danger Area Exploration Fleet #1 locates the Nhroaat SsKraed home system on the very edges of the galaxy, also detecting faint traces of recently-used Lelinthian wormholes, suggesting a visit within the last few years by their unfriendly neighbors. Though the reaction of the Nhroaat is slightly panicked, they do not appear overtly hostile as yet. Satellian scientists uncover new, fantastic breakthroughs back on Hmmaiaa and Ulumm Bukk, leading to greater propulsion power and FTL systems. The Diplomatic Fleet arrives at Thaej, greeting the Hlethan natives with a light show and much fanfare, while the Hlethan military stands a careful guard over the spatial region.
Snuddian shipbuilders celebrate as their first true warships leave spacedock, gleaming brilliantly in the local starlight. Modeled after the Satellian Diplomatic Ship and High Energy Weapon, the Snuddian vessels are very large and very well-armed, their power systems taking over much of what would have otherwise been cargo space. Using new ship-design principals, the vessels are largely modular, enabling these and future ships to be converted to other purposes, namely including cargo and colonization duty. However, for now, weapons of war are what's needed, and Snuddian tacticians begin to try to coordinate with Satellian forces in-system, toying with the idea of a dedicated strike against the Geskani frontier. The Snud, with their Proxy systems, are perhaps beginning to feel a bit unstoppable.
