I should note that with MapView tool and the fact that all Maps are now dynamically loaded, adding an extra plot column or two isn't a problem anymore (in case you need more Thrace etc.)

How? Never heard about it before :)

Well it'll be nice if Pulpudeva, Seuthopolis and Abdera can be in-game...

or perhaps I'd rather make the Thracian as well-defended barbarian kingdom then.. much more simplistic and it looks like the code already existed in Barbs.py for Vijayanagara, right? :D

MapView is here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=305168

You can open a map, select all, copy it, then create a new map that is say 2 tiles wider, paste, merge layers. Then add appriopriate terrain in the new area and save it under a new name. MapView doesn't copy all the extra non-map data (players, teams etc.), so it has to be copy'n'pasted manually in notepad, from the original map.

Thank you.
Apparently the MapView looks broken in my computer.. and it's kinda hard so... I'd rather use the manual way by editing the map in-game and save it :p

By the way,
do you mind if I use the map you created, with a little adjustment to ancient climate & shoreline?

Uh, I can help... I suppose.

Great! My plan so far, there will be at least 4 era: Bronze, Iron, Persian & Hellenistic :)

On the Gordian Knot,
since there will be Phrygia, spawn on Gordium at 1200 BC, I think they should be the one that built it :)

On the Akkadian,
I think they should be somewhat like the unplayable Buyids.. while Buyids is there to harass Abassids, Akkadian Assyrian :)

On the Hittite,
Recent research shows that the earliest Iron traced not at 1800 BC but 1300 BC on the Anatolian region.. so it's not the Hittite that discover it.

Sumerian could have its UHV linked to the Gubio, due to Gubio's interesting position and being that far from Sumer :)
(I'm also surprised, fyi)

Agree with all suggestions (and surprised about the iron thing - I was always taught Hittites were first to iron)

And with the eras... perhaps we should have the Stone Age as well? Just as a 'launching off of' era (like the Muslim Conquests Era in SoI). So the eras would be:
Stone Age -> Bronze Age -> Iron Age -> Persian Era -> Hellenistic Age
and in each era would contain:
Stone Age: Simple techs like wheel -> Bronze Age: Techs that more defined civilization (Writing, Code of Laws, etc.) -> Iron Age: Should attempt to split the technology tree, and have a 'Military' path and a 'Peace' path -> Persian Era: there should still be military and peace paths, but have a central 'I want to win in anyway possible' path -> Hellenistic Age: merges the paths completely.
This sound acceptable (well, for now)?

On the Stone Age,
I don't think so because:
Spoiler :
The Middle East and southeastern Asian regions progressed past Stone Age technology around 6000 BCE

On the Techs pathway,
I think it's best to leave them like it is now.. because I think even the most militaristic technology, require a cultural or intelligent or religious background techs somehow somewhere, and vice versa :)
So leaving them interconnecting interchangeably like it is now is the best, IMO.

Nothing, actually.

I'm kinda busy in the med-school and actually this thread's purpose should be like the RFC of India, to inspire other experienced modders to start this project, and my job is to ease them.. helping with the list of civilization, LH names and ideas, 3000BC Middle East map, then minor things such as City Name Manager.py, historical data & judgements, et cetera :)

I actually have the near finished map concept and CNM concept.. I will upload it in the near future

- 4000 BC.
It's the only map and time for a any Mod that can reasonably incorporate all the Mesopotamian factions, I've long wanted to play an RFC Sumerian game.

Also could we please not go with the "Phoenician" denonym?
Syriac is a Roman term, just as the former is Greek, but it (or Aramaye, ܐܪܡܝܐ) is what the indigenous peoples of that culture have referred themselves for a long time.

- I think for eras we should use neutral Metallurgical/Mythological terms rather than "Hellenistic Period", because in the game these may (or shouldn't, anyway) happen every game.

- For the map, I prose we cut off India (very little interaction past trade with that area prior to Aleksandr if I'm not wrong) to the East and add the Greek penisula to the West.
You can't really have Aleksandr the Great's conquests without having Greece, afterall.
Otherwise keep the map the same. Anything West would be irrelevant for our purposes, as Magna Gracia was always independent.
Unless we include the Christian era, which will give some big problems to work around.
