Some Turkish units and some other things,

You should have used the chance to post your Saxon units, too. Anyways, perfect work again!

BTW: I believe I'll have the Saxon UU like you suggested, so it'll be the musketman or the cuirassier. This ways, it would be cool if you could make industrial Saxons (canon, grenadier, cavalry - did I forgot something?), too. Similar to the rifleman you made. The Capo did a search for pictures of musketmen and found these http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchresult.cfm?keyword=military+uniforms+saxony
If you browse it a little, you'll find cavalry, too. You might select something that comes close to the other industrial units. I prefer it if units of the same civ and from the same era are similar to each other so that it is impler to recognize to whom they belong.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! :D

@Walter Hawkwood
The Tsar cannon? A even more ornamental bombard with a fancy engraved carriage with lion and serpent motifs, sounds like a challenge. I'll try to make it.
I'll also see what I can do about making the Redshrit's pants a bit more baggier, that shouldn't be too hard to do. Now that I look again, your right, they do seem like jeans as is, I'll get on fixing that.
Another Turkic civ in Total Realism wouldn't be bad at all. :D

@The_Coyote
I'll add the Free Company and the Black Brunswickers to the list.

@cybrxkhan
I haven't forgot your requests, I was actually working on them but so many people started asking me when the Turkish units were going to be ready that I had to push them out the door plus all of the units I had finished up to this point. Some of your requests are the next ones I was planning to fulfill.
Also for the Turkish units I really have to thank Walter Hawkwood for the sources the units are based off of. I must admit, originally I had planned to make a lot less Turkish units until he provided the art.

@Capo
I was actually planning on making some Timurid and a few Kipchaks, thus finishing all of the western Eurasian semi-nomadic people on my list at once. But so many people asked for me to hurry up and release the units, so here they are. Perhaps they were right though, if I had my way then I would have probably taken another month or so...

@cool3a2
I wanted to finish the rest of the Saxony units before I release them to the public. I'll keep your specifications in mind when making the industrial units.

I don't see the Tsar Cannon as more ornamental than the gun you've made, other than the carriage. But the carriage you can currently see on the pictures, as I mentioned, is not original - it was made in the XIX century, when the gun was already only used for decor. But it saw real combat in the XVI and probably XVII centuries, when it was likely mounted onto a simple carriage like the one your bombard uses. So basically only minor model details and textures have to change.

BTW, if you ever decide to make a proper Russian set, I'll be able to provide you a TON of inspirational artwork. ;) Given the amount of Russian units on CFC, surprisingly few of them are historically accurate.

Okay, so I FINALLY got some time to sit down and take a look at each of these units and it is completely amazing how many, and how good, they all are. I am totally confused as to which ones I should use for my mod, but that is definitely a problem I do not mind having. :goodjob:

I'm glad to see Arabia and India on your list, those are two civs that have a good amount of units done for them but no complete sets, so that the flavored sets always look thrown together. I can't wait to see what you do with these two very important empires. The ONLY issue I have, and it is a small one really, is that there is no "cuirassier" unit in this set (i.e. a mounted, gun-toting unit). Is there a way one could easily be thrown together? I might actually give it a shot myself, since it might be a simple model swap job, but since you researched it you might do a better job, well also because you are the King of making units.

And I suppose now I gotta add the Khazars to my list of civs to make for my mod. :goodjob:

@Walter Hawkwood
I was looking forward to going all out on the fancy carriage... j/k
I'll make a simpler carriage, this would probably be better anyway so the model isn't too large. After the Arabian units, I may take you up on your offer for Russian units. After the Khazars, Cumans/Kipchaks, and Turkish units it would be good to make some units from old Rus as well.

@The Capo
I was originally going to just attach either of the mounted units in the Renaissance pack to the cuirassier animations, but I forgot in the hurry toward release. I'll get right on that one as it is pretty easy to do.

I just threw the Janissary officer on the old Ottoman Cuirassier model I used (basically just a vanilla Janissary on a horse with a gun), it is on the cavalry horse though (and has a cavalry gun rather than a cuirassier's gun). If you want to make a new one go for it, if not I could just post the one I made.

How about you post it and I toss it in the download zip? That way the people who download the pack will have it as well. I will give credit to you too of course.

I'll post it as soon as I test it out.

Quick question though, what are the anims for the Heavy Janissary (part of Ottoman Medieval pack) and the Ancient Spearman?

The Heavy Janissary gets the Heavy Swordsman animations, the ancient Spearmen gets the Maya Holkan animations.
I need to update the zip files again to make sure the directions are right.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I wound up with less time than I thought for modding, so I'm trying to get it all finished up tonight (well, what I had planned for today and yesterday that is). Once I finish the unit update and start testing the units out I'll post the cuirassier I threw together as well as a screen and all that. :goodjob:

Then I plan on getting two leaderheads finished. :crazyeye:

I just checked piece by piece too! Not only are these historically accurate, excellent models, but it's unbelievable what Bakuel did with such smallish textures! I still cannot believe my eyes when I compare the opened units with the texture sizes used. :eek:
Bakuel, you are truly a master! :worship:

This one is killing me, actually! These units are so good, that leaving out any feels like a crime... ;)

I cannot wait, too!!

This, too. :cry: Now what am I supposed to do? :eek: We've got a set of units, like a set of jewelery... :goodjob:

Thanks avain, I'm rather proud of the textures on the Turkish and Khazar units. :D
I generally just stick with 128 size textures. Even though I am a graphics monkey, I would rather have my computer use it's memory to run a civ game with 100 factions and 5,000 turns then have it spend it's memory on large texture sizes. Graphics in the end are just graphics, they help one immerse themselves into the game and the cultures represented (nowadays I can't imagine playing without flavor units) but the game is more important.

Besides, I always liked Ottoman miniatures... :mischief:

For some reason the game wouldn't let me take screen shots, I have no idea why. :confused:

Anyway, here is the Ottoman "Cuirassier," which is basically Bakuel's Janissary Officer unit (from the Renaissance pack) mounted on a horse with a gun, I wasn't thinking clearly when I made the unit :mischief: but I put it on a Cavalry horse instead of a Cuirassier horse. If anybody wants to switch the gun and maybe decorate the horse differently I am quite sure everyone will be pleased. Anyway, the unit works fine, as far as I can tell, so if you needed something to go along with Bakuel's fine units here is my humble contribution. :goodjob:

Bakuel, could you turn your Janissary Officer into a medieval great general ?

It does not really fit any other role in my mod, but it would certainly make a great GG ;)

Sure I can do that. I originally made the Janissary officer to be a extra model in the Janissary unit's formation, which is an idea I got from looking at formation mods. But it can also be used as a great general.

Well, damn, if you do that could you turn the Deli Horseman into a Cuirassier then? Or at least reskin the Janissary Officer or something so it doesn't look exactly like this unit I Just threw together?

@AbsintheRed
The next major unit project is the Arabs, however, similar to the Khazars I will probably release some smaller unit sets as well. I was thinking about either making, some Timurids to fufill Capo's request from long ago (it depends on whether he still wants me to make them) or some Kipchaks.
After this my list looks something like this,
Major Projects,
China,
India,
Islamic Egypt,
Islamic Persia,

Smaller Projects,
Japan,
Khmer,
Bulgars,
Germany,
Netherlands,
Karakhitan/Liao
plus the rest of the vanilla civs as I continue my hair brained ambition to make flavor units for all of the civs, as well as many smaller unit requests.
A civ's position on this list is subject to change of course.

Wooow :)
I only dreamed for an answer like this
This many perfect units are still coming... eagerly waiting for all of them!!

@The Capo
I can put the Deli cavalryman on the cuirassier animations too.

@AbsintheRed
I have enough on that list to be modding into next year!
