Spl01 - Noobish Players Try the Concurrent Format

I guess I can FINALLY start analyzing... roflmao

I think I'd rather take Rheims than build a city; we could use it as a beachhead to eliminate France ~ just a thought

as much as i'd rather not, I'm going to vote for my save here. 1) We're going to have the colossus in a turn or two (which i don't think anyone else started on.) 2) have an axe in france, and one ready to go up there 3) have circum nav bonus...j/k...

how can you guys be up to page 26 in 3 days! - too much chatting time on your hands?

we started MARCH 20th, not april  but it still is a lot

3 days? We've been doing this since March 20. Did you mean 30?

Edit: Besides, Ruff, any SG with Pholk and myself is bound to be mired in low-brow pseudo-humor for pages.

I think you're jealous.

Oh - March. Now I know where that month went - you guys stole it.

It mainly exploded in the first few weeks. This thread isn't expanding AS fast, but is still fast...

Esp when nobody's voting :mischief:

you posted while I was analyzing...

Anyway, once I saw that Pholk had 15t left on the Colussus in Green Dot (Where I wanted it) I figured that pholk's save would be my pick.

Vote Box:
Splime: Pholkhero, 15t
Pholkhero: Pholkhero
Rex_Tyranus:
Autocon (If Applicable):

i wsa just trying to jumpstart us again ~

5t left on the Colussus in Green Dot
in reality, it can be whipped in a turn or two

Vote Box:
Splime: Pholkhero, 15t
Pholkhero: Pholkhero, 15t is fine w/me
Rex_Tyranus:
Autocon (If Applicable):

I've attached a spreadsheet with my analysis. I'm voting for Rex. His save has the best progress on research, best opportunities for growth (2 galleys loaded with 2 axemen, settler and worker), largest navy (did we forget we're at war with France?) and he circumnavigated within the allotted number of turns (cough, ahem, cough).

Vote Box:
Splime: Pholkhero, 15t
Pholkhero: Pholkhero, 15t is fine w/me
Rex_Tyranus:
Autocon (If Applicable):
Frankcor: Rex, 15t

My deciding factor was rally the colussus, as otherwise, I would have chosen a different save. However, pholk got Green Dot set up for Colussus, so I chose it. Also, about the war -- in true phony war spirit, a navy isn't THAT important, though if Napoleon makes a small navy, then we have a reason for a navy.

Vote Box:
Splime: Pholkhero, 15t
Pholkhero: Pholkhero, 15t is fine w/me
Rex_Tyranus: Rex 10 t (my time is getting crunched lately)
Autocon (If Applicable):
Frankcor: Rex, 15t

I voted for myself because I think we need an early presence on the milk and honey continent. We should own it. (It's got iron, too.)

@Frank: I haven't circumnavigated yet. But I am one turn away, I think.

@Splime: In this war, a navy is the only important thing. If Frenchie decides to escalate it beyond the Phoney status, we'll be quite glad of it.

hmmm..while I would personally use the two settlers on our own island, I agree w/Splime ~ I had just assumed we declared to get around the island in the frirst place and was just going to run some pillage/guerrilla campaigns ~although razing that city near the iron that i have pictured would be nice :)

however, since we're about to get circum nav anyway, i don't think my pursuit of caravels is all that important. Once i realized we were going to get navi, i should've moved off that tech-line.

which island exactly is the "land of milk and honey" ~ the one just to the west of us??

It's the island, man. You know, the one with the coast...? And that tree...? /chong
Spoiler :

From my turnset of April 7th:

thanks for the wisdom of the I Chong :) i'm still not convicned of the need to settle off-island. Arguments??

We can out-culture anyone on our own island. Another civ settling there will be pressed to eek out an existance. But we'll be pressed on other islands. We can afford to wait on our own, but the sooner we settle other continents, the stronger chance those settlements will have of thriving.

I undersant the tactical rationale, but strategically, why do we need to settle off-island? just to deny the island to our opponents? are we going for a domination win, and need more territory?? as usual, i'm just

edit: in the end, though, i like having the colossus about to drop and the bonus commerce to our water tiles.
