Is Athens permanently NPC?

And if Thlayli doesn't, I will find someone else, or choose one of the rest of you to do it.

I was a tad confused regarding where everyone was .... tried to make this ..

I had to give this some decent thought as to whether I could replicate the schizophrenia, brilliance, and arrogance of Athens' many leaders.

But I have decided that I can. :p

I would not object to a co-player if someone else is desperate to play Athens and gets spryllino's approval, of course.

Excellent! :) Athens is all yours, though, and I don't want you to have a co-player, because we tried that last time and it failed miserably. :p

I've updated the list of claims further up the page.

Should I get straight to role playing or are we waiting on more people? Oh and BILLSIF... We are going to have some fun ;)

I'd like to wait to see if anyone else is going to join for a few more days, and I'm also still fiddling the stats and possibly the rules (for example, I just rearranged all the prosperity numbers). Then there'll be plenty of time for public diplomacy, because I intend the first deadline probably to be the 12th, or something.

I'll give the all clear for public diplomacy in a few days, from which point you can consider the rules and stats to be fixed. I suggest that you all use the intervening time to familiarise yourselves with the first two updates (pages 6 and 8 of the thread), and to ask any questions (or even any suggestions) you have about how the rules work.

Is there any way we can train our current troops to become Hoplites, for example?

Also, how much do War Plans affect wars?

It probably can't be done right now in Lyncus's position. You would have to have spare goods or labour to buy or produce the weaponry with, for one thing, but Lyncus is too poor as things stand. And even if they did have the resources, your troops would probably, in the present circumstances, prefer to equip themselves as peltasts, on account of the terrain and on account of it being cheaper.

Also, how much do War Plans affect wars?

About as much as they did in real life. :p Which is quite a lot.

Cool. Maps help?

I'd be open to playing, but I literally have no idea where to start :)

nuke - pick your favorite greek city states still left and hf.

bair - don't think you are in a much better position then lyncus :p. Reminding you that Lyncus beat Macedonia eventually until the rise of Philip.

JoanK: I don't mind, just as long as what you say is absolutely clear; maps may help you to express that.

nuke: there's a list of potentially interesting countries in my post at the top of the page.

Bair: That would be the most obvious thing to attempt, yes, although it shouldn't be easy.

Excellent. I will start working on a map of Sicily right now.
