Copenhagen Scandinavia, November 1st 1938.
The Prime Minister is walking toward his offices, like he does every day. He is very upset, Europe is about to become a mess. He doesnt know what to do. The Norse Empire has stayed out of most wars recently, and his people do not want to become ruled by Germany. But they also do not want Great Britain dictating what they should do. You see, the Scandinavian people would rather remain neutral. But now they know that is impossible, and the country seems to be split. Many people want to stay out of the war and build up a military to defend against Hitler. Many others want to stay out of the war and ignore it. Even others wish to ally with Hitler, saying it is time that the Norse Empire grew for the first time in hundreds of years.
What the people are sure of is this. The Norse Empire should not invade Germany, it would mean the end of us all. There is a great fear of the huge German army. We have a direct border with Germany! Britain is much safer, why dont they go to war on their own. It is with this thought that a large group of people have gathered outside the Prime Ministers offices. The crowd is so large, and even violent, that the security has to pull the prime minister inside.
In his head the prime Minister is afraid. He tries to look confident, but he knows something is up. That crowd is 1/3 the population of the largest city in the empire. This was also happening throughout the empire. People were gathered outside of their offices. Suddenly his secretary rushed in and told him that 3 parliamentary officials were killed by citizens. He, shocked, looked back at the crowd. They were marching in circles, holding huge banners. On the banners was something that made him fear for his future. On it was a large hammer; Thors hammer the militants called it. The fascist and isolationist parties had become the largest party among the people lately; because of this elections were being delayed. He said they were doing this because the country needed to be united in this time of war, and there wasnt time to vote. The truth was, he thought he knew better than the people what should be done.
They were chanting all day like this, until suddenly something changed. They became silent. The prime minister slowly drew back the curtains, shaking. They were standing there, holding rocks, staring at his window. He yelled and ran away from the glass and out into the hall.
The air was cut with a loud primal yell. The guards began to fire into the crowd. There were 10 guards, with guns. But there were thousands of people with rocks. They pelted the guards, who fell to the ground. Then they trampled them and ran to the huge oaken doors. Within minutes the doors were cut to pieces by axes. People ran through the building killing everything and lighting it aflame.
This continued all over the country. By the 2nd of November in 1938 the officials who ruled the country were very different. They were a mix of war mongers and crazed Scandinavian nationalists. They all had the Thors hammer pins on their suits. What resulted was a mess, which somehow was fixed almost immediately. The country was held together by its desire to be held together, and to change the world. For the first time in a very long time, the people in charge of Scandinavia had a very similar idea of what had to be done.
One man was elected ruler by the people, he had absolute power, and no one dared oppose him. His name was Arkin Anderssen. He was determined to make his homeland strong.
His first order was to spend much of the economy growing the armed forces, he even would let women join. Anyone who wished could join, especially in the Navy.
The people rushed to join to defend the country they had built. The ranks were soon swelling.
He then ordered that the Scandinavian empire become more industrialized. He ordered the construction of a huge factory complex in the mountains of Norway, built deep enough under the icy rock as to be safe from bombing.
He sent out a few simple letters:
To Great Britain:
We will not fight a war with you, and we secede from the Western European alliance. Oh and we would appreaciate it if you stayed out of our Danish sea.
To Finland:
Perhaps your country would agree to join in a union with ours, as we are very similar people and probably would like to be on the same side.
To Germany:
We have no war with you, just dont invade us.
Well this war in Europe is looking interesting.
