I don't care where the stuff I buy is from, but I do care what sort of regulations exist in the country where it was produced.
We have stricter beef regulations here in Canada as far as I know (for example), so I'd prefer Canadian beef over American beef over Chinese beef over Sealand beef. What I'd prefer is labelling that informs me of what sort of farm the beef is from, if hormones were used, what sort of feed, etc. If that's not possible, country of origin can't hurt - as long as companies aren't able to cheat the system like olive oil that is "made in italy" even though all the olives come from elsewhere and the stuff is just packaged up in Italy. If these loopholes aren't allowed, these "made in ____" stickers will be aight. If not, I won't really look at them, except for the "Made in China" stuff.. You might as well try to minimize food imported from that God foresaken place.
