staznesX: All Under Heaven

@neverwonagame, I don't mind, it's your Riksdag and your people you have to confront ;)

Why should the the people oppose this policy? The common man is more likely to be idealistic and less likely to be pragmatic then his social betters, and in the absence of nationalism is more likely to be inspired by religion.

The Riksdag might oppose the policy (I don't know who controlled it), but in actual argument I can win easily. (I'll PM the arguments to you if that becomes an issue) The nobility might oppose it, I don't know.

NWAG3 can this go to the WWW thread?

But as has been said, what the mod says, goes.

You many very well be right about the real world.. but this is an alt-hist.

TeH Mod can do whatever he likes.

Well lookie there a new NES by Azale and it's summer...hmm. The training rules look a bit iffy though.

You drop in to insult my rules and you do not even specify? These rules are time tested and battle hardened, I'll have you know ;)

A few minor corrections have been made to the stats. All "Enlightened" countries are in "Late Enlightenment" now.

If anyone knows the capital of the Sikh Empire, that would be grand because it's been bugging me.

Just that each set of troops can have it's level of training. One could be particularly annoying if one decided to have one troop of each type having various levels of training, ranging from the lowest to highest. It would certainly cause a jumble in the stats and would probably only serve to irritate the mod. Plus it makes fielding any half decent army a helluva lot expensive, but I guess it's realistic so my complaints will be waved off by the serious business crowd.

Now where is a nice secure country that I can play with without the interruptions of others?

OOC: Fresh out, sorry. I got the last good one.

Malta? :p The best countries available are, powerwise, the Dutch and Saxony-Poland but they are hardly secure, heh.

Ayutthaya has potential (the pre-enlightenment label will be shaken off pretty soon and it can accelerate through it with the right patrons). Tibet and Nepal are secure, I guess, for now. Same with the Sikh too, probably.

Nonsense there is the Kingdom of Kandy (must say I have no idea where it even is, I just like the name...candy heh) or the Order of Saint John which is perfect for diabolical plans of world domination or simply terrorizing the civilian population of Malta.

Of course I am addicted to chaos, so when I said play with I really meant play with, not in the serious expand, exploit, exterminate manner you normal mature people play.

EDIT: Azale understands me

OOC: Tell me Neverwonagame, have you read the alternate history? Because if you haven't, nothing you say means anything. Please, just go read it and then proceed to base your claims off the TL.

I have read parts of it already. You do have a point, so I will read the rest of it (excluding the Asian sections). But I expect you are wrong.

EDIT: Having searched through for relevant information, I see no mention of greater tolerance for Protestants, although it could be argued as implied based on reconciliation with the Hungarian Hapsburgs. I also found no other relevant information.

As for references to OTL for my argument, they are justified unless there is some particular reason in the TL why the Austrians should be less anti-Protestant. If the Austrians are very anti-Protestant, then anti-Catholic views from the Protestants would be understood by them, and not denounced as mad.

OOC: Even after reading the Rise of the Colonies, history, I am still a bit confused as to why America is rebelling, but I think I got the gist of it.

America is rebelling because of unfair representation? Or taxes, or both?

But I have read through all histories so I am caught up and ready to play.

I was under the impression that it was your absolutism. Colonials, being a more liberated folk, don't much like the central English government cracking down on them. You also IIRC instituted taxes to recoup the monetary losses from the Dutch War.

Correct analysis.

The various tribute states to the Nan Ming Empire will have their emissaries arriving in Nanjing in a short matter of time. Tibet, Nepal, Ayutthaya, and the Urga will be represented.

Ahh, thanks Dachs.

Diplo to come soon.
