Steve McNair found dead

Both deserve equal coverage and your looking at it at a media point of view.

Didn't notice it, sorry. I take your point, but i mean generally. Why should one human being's death be more important then anothers? Thats what people are basically saying here, that just because he "touched" more lives, that his death is more important then others.

And just for the record: I'm not trying to be edgy, but this constant worshipping of celebrities and then the subsequent morning really annoys me. Example: Jade Goody. She had a public funeral simply because she was famous.

Thanks for admitting that us real people are nothing compared to these stars. I guess we should give more thanks to the likes of Michael Jackson and Jade Goody, rather then our nurses, doctors, soldiers, firemen etc.

Here's the thing - you don't compare to Steve McNair. Not only did he help develop the Quarterback position, he donated much of his own money to charities and businesses in inner-city Nashville. That's a lot more than you have done. And for all the good the professions you listed have done, individually, they pale in comparison to McNair. People cared about McNair because he was a hero on and off the field.

And to quote my man Azale,
"Ohhh I'm so edgy and cool and unemotional. Excuse me while I piss on your memories and get off on your delicious tears."

No, they do not. One affected millions. The other affected a small town. Which one is going to get international attention? The one that affected millions.

he wasnt paris hilton. he was, as i have already said, part of an important public aggression management system.

now if you said this system is being instrumentalised by the ruling class you might have a point...

I still disagree. Personally everyone is equal in my eyes. And no, i'm not trying to "get off on your delicious tears", because first of all thats ********, second off all i'm not that kind of person and third i wasn't trying to be cool.

who's death is gonna be reported on, a fireman 300 people knew about or a quarterback 300 million people knew about?

who are people on an international online forum be able to talk about, a local fireman from abernathy, texas or a former nfl quarterback?

Well seeing as this is an international forum, and it it throwball not football, i think more people worldwide would care about the fireman.

 Ok, we get it, you don't like football and you like soccer. You win, ok?

Chavez is really rubbing off on you.

I don't care if he is famous in america, he isn't here, first time i heard of him, and that's coming from someone who was living in Canada during this guys 'golden years' in american football.

He commited suicide, he was muy loco, i was responding to the statement that in an international forum, people would care more about his death than some fireman's death. The world outside of USA and Canada will only say RIP make some comments on how he was loco and move on. The world doesn't revolve around the USA.

Also, i think some fireman who risked his life to fight a 3:00 morning blaze and lost his life in the process is much more sadder than some crazy guy that commited suicide.

If it was the reverse with me posting a story about some 'soccer' guy that commited suicide, that you guys never heard of, your welcome to the same opinion.

He was murdered by his girlfriend who committed suicide after that.

Another overpaid sports star who contributed nothing to society as a whole dies. The world mourns.

Why do you think "he contributed nothing to society as a whole" ? I mean we're on a game based forum, do you apply that resoning to Sid Meier also? Society after all do not need civ more than it needs football, probably the opposite

No, the world needs civ! :D

oohh, i guess that's what i get for not reading the article properlly.

Maybe you could save everyone else some time and just not respond in the future instead of being a little boy and trying to troll that football isn't as cool as soccer. Jesus, get a grip of yourself. You're not funny and no one gives a damn what people call the sport. Just because you don't think it's popular in Venezuela/Eastern Europe doesn't mean it's not popular worldwide. That's why the Super Bowl is broadcast in 100+ languages, there's a highly anticipated game in London yearly, and preseason games in Japan sell out as well. You've done this several times in the last few days and, frankly, it's annoying beyond hell.

Just to save the thread, I'll put out that I enjoyed watching McNair play.

AFAIK, the police have 99% concluded that it was homicide-murder, with the perp being McNair's young girlfriend. I understand interviews they did lean heavily that the girlfriend became jealous somehow.

I was never really a fan of his but he did give me some great moments to remember RIP

and Azale and Red Door you are my heros

He commited suicide, he was muy loco,

Let me guess. You didnt really read the story did you?

He didnt commit suicide...he was murdered by his crazy girlfriend and then SHE commited suicide.

/fail. Total and utter../fail.

In addition to being a hero off the field for the people of Nashville, McNair did some pretty important things for football as a whole. In addition to Jerry Rice, McNair was one of the biggest names to come out of small, HBCs or Historically Black Colleges. He helped prove that you don't have to go to a huge school to be a great football player, and helped open some doors to great athletes who might go under the radar.

He was a great football player, and one of the "toughest" to play in my generation. Other players and fans loved him. For anybody who cares about football, this is a really big loss.

ooh look at me i'm so cool and edgy dont u guys realize that he's just another celebrity ooh i'm so cold and apathetic i dont care at all about celebs ooh im so logical

Philanderer.

What goes around comes around, Steve.

Yea, he deserved to die because he stopped loving his wife. He committed no crime. His 4 sons are still fatherless. This isn't exactly some karmic universe thing.
