Update Five: 1838 A.D.
Huge explosions ripped across the city of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, that left most of the city in ruins. Bombs that exploded in the rocky cliffs surrounding the north side of the city caused an avalanche that has further destroyed the northern section of the city. Right now, 120,000 people has been reported died in this tirade (- confidence, -economy).
The Pacificans have sealed their borders with the Russians, which means almost nothing since the Russians have already kept the border sealed for two years now. Also, cheap labor from Mongol work camps has helped the economy compete with external competitors (+ economy), but unrest continues in the Mongolian province, and more Pacificans are killed in small gunfights (-100 men).
USSA troops mass in the small USSA colony of Matamoros, reaching nearly 100,000 strong, and then led the invasion of northern Mexico, meeting nearly 40,000 Mexican soldiers. A small battle ensued, with a USSA victory, and the occupation of most of northern Mexico (economy from Mexico to USSA). A force nearly double the Northern Mexico campaign, nearly 200,000 men, then proceed to land in Approcher la Croix (OTL Vera Cruz). Surprised, the Mexicans have canceled most of their plans, which looked to have been an overseas campaign, and instead recalled their troops to protect Mexico City, which is under heavy artillery fire. Many artillery pieces stationed in the Yucatan were withdrawn to the city to return fire.
In the south, the Mexicans are forced to retreat in the face of both Panamanian and Brazilian forces, welcomed by the Panamanians for their aid against the Mexicans. In the face of overwhelming numbers, the Mexicans are forced to further cancel more plans and bring in more troops to hold the line.
Furthermore, Ozeania, Mexico’s former occupiers, takes its responsibility for Mexico’s well being seriously. A force of nearly seventy ships, including five ironclads, arrives at the Panama Canal, destroying the Mexican blockade, and formerly taking over the canal. Next, 400,000 Ozeanians land in the familiar ports of western Mexico, and proceed to re-occupy the country. The Ozeanian government has released the following statement, “Mexico's attempt at governing its own affairs has sent America into a War and greatly effected the economies around it. Therefore it is up to us to Bring Mexico back under Ozeanian leadership.” Whatever officials have fallen into Ozeanian hands have been arrested and sent back to Sydney for trial. The Mexican government’s legitimacy to rule has been taken away.
(-150,000 Mexicans, -15 Mexican ships, -40,000 Panamanians, -10,000 Brazilians, -35,000 Americans, -5 Ozeanian ships, -10,000 Ozeanians, -Mexican economy, -Panamanian economy, + Ozeanian Confidence)
Money stolen from London banks during the terrorist attacks last year has turned up in Ozeania.
The Russian colony of Uruguay is sold to Uruguay, and has more then doubled their size (+economy Uruguay). Meanwhile, many Russians loose their jobs that were once connected to the colony, and general melancholy over the fact that Russia lost one of her largest overseas possessions has hit the Russian people (-confidence).
Meanwhile, Russia has sealed the Quebec border with USSA, and has even caught three USSA spies that were spreading communist ideals in Quebec. The current Russian general in Quebec has dissolved the Quebecois congress, but has called for new elections. Only approved persons are eligible to become a candidate. The resulting Congress is full of right-winged, pro-Russian legislatures. This further angries the Quebecois people, but with leadership falling apart, the communist revolution is seemingly becoming less and less powerful.
A rebellion sweeps across the Teutonic colony of Recife and the new nation of Recife is formed. Small incursions into Spanish Argentina have caused panic along the borders.
The Chinese Yuan has an unexpected growth rate this year as Chinese investors continue to invest heavily into Sinhala and France (+economy).
The Egypto-European War
We all saw this coming. As relations and diplomacy broke down, it was only a matter of time before the European great powers of Britain, Denmark, and France clashed with Egypt and her allies. The first shots were fired near the Suez, which is obviously going to be a very strategic and bloody location within the next few years. The British navy, armed with new Battlecruisers and ironclads, meet with a newly-fitted Egyptian navy that boasts of 17 Ironclads, well trained. The Battle of the Suez Canal took place here in mid February, where the British barely dominated, sending the crippled Egyptian fleet back into the Nile delta. All but one battlecruiser was sunk, and all but five British ironclads are at the bottom of the Mediterranean.
What the British thought they were doing was taking control of the Suez and Egyptian Mediterranean ports, cutting off all Egyptian trade. In actuality, Egyptian trade is mostly land based with Africa and through Port Sayid on the Red Sea. But some routes are blocked, nevertheless, that are through Alexandria and the like.
But what the British forgot was they would not be able to use the canal as well, as even though they have control of the seas, they do not have control of the canal, which transverses hundreds of miles over land, closely guarded by Egyptian artillery and machine guns.
France has withdrawn troops and administrators from Nordterre and handed it over to a provisional Danish government. Scandinavian troops soon invade. (-20,000 Danish).
Meanwhile, the French and the Danish concentrate soley on the destruction of the Teutonic Order. The French invade first, in two forces, one in the north and one in the south. The Teutons rush to defend their border, but then retreat for the most part to protect their capital, which is under attack by Danish troops after the Danish navy obliterated the Teutonic High Seas Fleet. The French then pressed their attack once again, breaking the Teutonic line in the south first, and then in the north, reaching the Elbe. The southern force then drove northward and encircled the Teutons here. The Danish then invade in full force from Jutland. Panicking, the Teutonic general in charge of the forces in Illyria drove his forces northwards, breaking a hole in the French lines, which allowed the Teutons to escape and fight another day. Meanwhile the Danish incursions in the east are destroyed.
(-13 Egyptian ships, -14 Egyptian Ironclads, - 25 British Ships, -2 Battlecruisers, -9 British Ironclads, -150,000 Teutonic men, -50,000 French, -95,000 Danish, -20 Teutonic Ships, -2 Teutonic Ironclads, -15 Danish ships, -4 Danish ironclads, -30,000 Scandinavians, +Economy to Scandinavia)
The economies of France and Britain go into war mode, greatly bolstering the faulty economies (+ economies to both). Denmark is slower to mobilize their industry.
The Egyptian industry has begun to switch to wartime mode, but is having trouble converting some factories along the Nile that are still needed to export to other countries along trade deals.
The loss of French Nordterre puts many raw resources out of the hands of France (-economy).
The British have also landed in Madagascar and met little resistance. So far there is little fighting, and so little casualties, but the British have only landed in a lightly-inhabited area.
