Macedonian battle orders:
This a picture of what will happen:
Chronological Order:
Purple A:
The army pulls back to the east, a rearguard of chariots and the Athenian Expeditionary force will hold off the enemy.
Bright Yellow = 150 Spearmen (3 Ranks, 50 Columns)
Dark Yellowish green = 100 Archers (2 Ranks, 50 Columns)
Blue = a Unit of Chariots (5 Chariots armed with spears and bows and arrows)
Basically, as the enemy advance the chariots will zoom around shooting them, then when they get to close they will run off down the flanks. The Athenian archers will then shoot the advancing men with the spearmen acting as a wall. The chariots will cover the Athenian Flank.
Purple B:
The main army reaches about here and turns sharply west the 150 spearmen follow. Then 50 archers carry on and board the galleys. The chariots go south out of sight.
The other 50 archers move south to garrison the Macedonian capital.
Yellow A:
The ships loaded with archers go towards the capital.
If the enemy army follows then the chariots move towards the capital as well.
Purple C:
The main army quick marching west turns northwest towards the river.
Yellow B:
The navy feigns getting lost and moves so that land is just in sight.
Purple D:
The main army crosses the river and follows it towards the capital
Yellow C:
The navy reaches the river then, if the army has followed them moves south, down the coast raking any pursuers with arrows whilst the group of chariots make hit and run attacks on the army.
If the army hasnt followed them then the archers get out and burn the city.
Purple E:
The main army will either meet a BIG army, a smouldering city or an undefended city.
