Domestic Events

All trade centers give an eco level this turn!

Mekaia sends two diplomatic emissaries with an altimatieum to the Northern Villages; join or be crushed. After the two leaders fought in a duel. The Mekaian emperor Tannoth won , and suprsngly the city-state held up their end of the bargain. Although the other efforts to expand the kingdom were differnt {See Millitary Events}. As a result of this expansion, a new state forms : Mekong.

The Qi coin a new slogan which catches on with great effect. (+1 Culture) Also soilders are to be rewarded a sizeable amount of land for 3 years service.

Diplomatic Relations break down between all 3 Chinese states. {See Millitary Events}

Tharaia begins to send colonial ships to the West to exploit the resources, theese positions can become valuable assests if used correctly. They also begin to train elephants. Many scoff at the idea, but as a millitary commander said "Elephants will change the way war is fought."

A new state also forms in India based off of Guntrian aggresiveness ; Gujarat.

Diplomatic relations seem to have broken down in most of India as well.. {See Millitary Events}

The Massagetes expand greatly in almost all directions; they have come into contact with a Persian kingdom , Persia. :mischief:

Further West we have the Mesopatamians. Here though diplomatic relations have been broken for quite a while- and continue to do so. :p

Alradia has begin to build Infrastrucutre and is becoming increasingly civilized, although it is still no match compared to other nations.

Carthage also establishs a number of colonies in Northern Africia that will help with long term trading.

The Morrocan Generals are at a loss at what to do, mainly because lack of 'orders' from their commanders.

Millitary Events

A quarter of a century complete with but not limtied to: backstabbing; war; rape; pillage; etc. etc.

First we have Mekaia. They mass recruited soilders into the army. (-2 Training) But have a huge training program afterwards to make up for some experience lost. (+1 Training -3 Hundreds) The Mekaian army marches north and stops on the doorstep of one of the barbarian cities. They then proceed to defeat their leader in a duel, and the city-state joins Mekaia. (+1 Economy) The Mekaian army proceeds to go East and counqer massive amounts of land. Their succes is largely because of Koleth, assassins who kill the leaders and opens the gates for the army.

Then they go West. At first it looks as if they would waltz in and take over the West as easy; but alas they would not. The Western Barbarians have learned of the way the Mekaians use their Koleths and know how to spot them. So the Mekaian army had to take over the West conventionally and their are still big rebellions because of recent takeover.

In India a very forseen turn of events happened.

Guntra invaded and overwhelmed the eastern and Western city-states near it, almost with no losses thanks to the elite Infantry and swift acting horse and sheer numbers.

That wasn't enough for Guntra. They wanted more. They wanted better, more advanced enemies. They chose Mumbai.

The only reason Mumbai wasn't overtaken completely by the force was because of the strectch of the Guntran army. The Guntrans smashed through the border lands and used captured gallies to cross the river. They proceeded to march south, expecting no resistance because of a barbarian invasion in the South of Mumbai. They were dead wrong.

For all of it's professed elitism the Guntran army was no match for dug in postions. At the battle of Bombai, the Guntran army was defeated by not giving up their charges against the superior position. Even though they had some major setbacks, most of Upper Mumbai is in Guntran hands.

Because of almost the entire army fightring Guntra, two of the last 3 colonies of Mumbai are gone and never heard from again; the last threatening to secede if not given protection.

(-26 Guntrian Hundreds, 1 Economy from city-states to Guntra, 1 Economy from Mumbai to Guntra, -1 Guntran Economy -12 Mumbain Hundreds -10 Gallies)

If you asked anyone in Thraia they thought they would be in the Mumbain position. They really expected an attack, so much so that they constructed huge defensive positions from any possible way of Guntran attack. They also raised their army to almsot double it's numbers, and its training is equal to that of the Guntrans.

Further West we have the Massagetes who expanded greater than any other nation thanks to their Horse-Warriors mobility and unrivaled skill in battle. It encroaches ever faster toward India and Persia. It is unclear what will happen next. This new Persian state seems to be strong in millitary and technology.

The Rasitean-Sipparian-Babylonian War came to a bloddy halt in 1058 BC.

The war was raging still in 1075 BC. The Babylonians had finally figured out how to get past those invincible fortifications, sail aurond. The Babylonians began to employ Bowmen, which would help in field battles greatly. In the darkness of night, the boats sailed aurond the fortifications, droppign off 500 Bowmen. Theese bowmen barely managed to take a small strip of the Sipparian fortification, enough to let the rest of the army through. After Southern Sipparian army and the Babylononians did battle one last time, the Babylononians were clearly the victor in the South. They rushed up the rivers, taking as much land as possible. When they got to te capitol, they were amazed to see the Rasiteans had arrived at nearly the same time. The Rasiteans had used a similar tactic, although they didnt need too as much because of lack of soilders in the North on the Sipparians part. No one knows who should get to the capitol , as each side suffered enough to race there. The Babylononians also bribed most city-states along the river with gold in order to join them, and they launched a few campaigns in the South.

The next war wouldve surely been the greatest if China hadn't been the warring states.

Pontus had been expanding west toward the city states in Anatolia. This is what may've set off Byzantium; we may never know.

In 1072 BC Byzantium swept across the Anatolian city-states with its new found ally Athens. They crashed upon the fragile Pontic millitary. Pontus had had most of its Hundreds over there, but even then they were no match for the combined might of Athens AND Byzantium. The new Byzantine Imoperial Hoplites armed with a wide armanent of weapons was more than match for the Pontic millitary which was suffering from lack of experienced soilers. Intially the Athenian-Byzantine colaltion made humongous gains, but the Potincs had gained some new freinds in the East.

New Hattuas had heard of the Pontic invasion and at first was happy; their old empire's counqereor was getting what they deserved. Then they heard the burn-the-city policiy of Byzantium and Athens, it acted fast. The entire New Hatti Millitary was pouring over the East border of Pontus, and first they fought the invaders (or helpers) but eventually let them through. Now the Pontic and New Hatti millitary are in fortifications, determiend to protect Hattuas at all cost.

"Betrayal and deception are the Rice of the Three Kingdoms."

Lao Bhou, Qi General

In 1174 BC the Qi finally were tired of failed Diplomatic relations with Qin. They had been asking Qin for years to give the Shandong up, alas they refused. So the drums of war were sounded. The swords sharpened. The bows readied.

The Qi struck fast and hard, taking the only land route to the Shandong besides going through their land, a small valley. It was quickly bottled up and many a Qin soilders died trying to retake it. After a while they realized it was futile, they retreated to Qingdao and were ready for a long drawn out seige. The Qi knew that they would need all the men on the SouthWestern front for the Qin counterattack, so they dressed up some gallies as Yue traders and sailed into Qingdao harbor. The resulting battle left over 5000 Qin dead and burnt most of Qingdao down.

While the Qi where in the East fighting at Qingdao , the few soilders that where in the South quickly put a river between them and the much mor elite Qin army. The Qin quickly took Baotu careful not to harm it; it is one of the most important trading cities in all of China. They then crossed the river and proceeded to smash the small garrison across the river. They wouldve maybe gone all the way up river if Yue hadn't interfered.

The Yue had heard about the Qi-Qin war. They decided to take advantage of the situation themselves. They quickly launched a massive invasion to the West, with no one there to stop them they made impressive gains.
The Qi heard about the Yue entrance into the war and expected an ally. Over 1000 troops were lured down South and slaughtered. The Yue didn't take any prisoners. They refised to work with Qi. They wanted all of China for themselves. The Yue proceeded to go up and smash through the heavily guarded valley.

China is enveloped in a massive 3-way war that will sculpt it for now and forever.

Culture & Religion of the Massagetes

The Massagete culture retains many similarities to the mainstream steppe-nomad tradition shared by the tribes of the north. For both practical and social reasons the material culture of the Massagetes remains in many ways similar or identical to that of other nations. However, there are marked differences in the culture of the Massagetes, some necessitated by geography, some by the upheaval of mass migration, and some by contact with other non-steppe-nomad peoples.

Material Culture & Way of Life

The material culture of the Massagetes is kindred to that of the other nomadic horse peoples.

Like the other nomadic nations, the Massagetes place great importance on mobility. They rarely make permanent homes; therefore, the majority of Massagetes possess a tent, which can be transported on horseback. The tent is constructed typically of hide, which is strong and warm and relatively light, supported by wooden poles. When a Massagete is only riding for a few days, and not relocating altogether, he may carry a sleeping-sack, made of hides sewn together; more commonly, however, he will carry a thick woolen blanket and sleep on horseback. When the Massagetes do settle down, they construct their homes from whatever materials are locally available. These typically include wood, grass, hides, sinews, and occasionally stone. The common Massagete home is a round structure consisting of bent and interlocked wooden poles, reinforced with sinews, driven into the ground and reinforced with metal or stone anchors, and covered with treated hides. To provide further protection from the elements, these hide walls may be patched with a mixture of mud and dry grass, which makes a firm cement that seals the structure against wind and rain. A home is typically occupied by only a single Massagete family, although larger structures are sometimes built and held by an entire clan in common.

The Massagetes generally do not possess luxurious items; their material goods are practical and utilitarian, though they are not bereft of decoration. The Massagetes possess no plates, eating only from bowls of copper or wood. They lack both forks and spoons; they drink liquids from a bowl, and use their knives for both cutting and picking up food. Knives serve many purposes amongst the Massagetes: the same knife might be used to slaughter a goat, cut tinder, slice cooked meat, bring that meat to the mouth, and clean the teeth; it might also be used to cut traps, repair a harness, remove an arrowhead, and dispatch an enemy. This basic Massagete utility knife is made of brass, as the Massagetes possess no iron; likewise, the finer knives of tribal lords and royalty are made of gold, as the Massagetes possess no silver. Wealthier Massagetes -- often skilled warriors, tribal leaders, or royalty -- might possess drinking-cups, rather than merely bowls, made of brass or from the bronzed skulls of a vanquished rival.

The clothing of the Massagetes is simple and practical. The environment in which the Massagetes live differs substantially from the northern steppe, and as such necessitates a different dress, though many qualities remain closely linked to other cultures. Massagete men wear tunics and trousers of sewn animal hide. For additional warmth they may wear jackets of leather or hide; in a particularly harsh winter, they might wear animal furs. Leather boots lined with the fur of field mice are common amongst the Massagetes; they are rugged and warm, and provide great support for the feet and ankles on horseback and when walking on rough terrain. Massagete women tend to wear robes of hide, and furs in cold weather. Massagete women often adorn themselves in jewelry; for the common Massagete female, this might consist of brass bracelets, whereas wealthy or powerful women may wear bracelets, anklets, necklaces, and earings of gold or brass.

Weapons are some of the most precious and highly-valued items possessed by the Massagetes. Besides his horse and livestock, a Massagete man's axe and bow are his most prized and valuable possessions. High-quality or storied weapons may be passed from father to son, or given as a dowry in marriage.

Agriculture & Husbandry

The Massagetes rely heavilly on the herding of domesticated livestock for sustenance. A man's wealth is often measured by the size of his flock. Almost every Massagete family has its own stock animals, which the family will herd from place to place in search of food. Sheep and goats are common amongst the Massagetes, as they are hardy, easy to herd, and survive well in the rougher hill country in which some clans reside. Sheep are shorn for their wool, which is used in making blankets, riding quilts, and infants' clothings; they provide milk and meat to sustain the family. Goats likewise provide milk and meat, and their hair can be used to line hats, boots, and other cold-weather clothing. However, the most valued stock animal amongst the tribes is the cow. A man who owns a herd of cattle is considered incredibly wealthy, and is highly esteemed by other men. Cattle provide meat for eating, milk for drinking, and leather for clothing; they can be used as draft animals, to pull carts or carry loads. The horns of bulls are prized commodities.

Agriculture is not widespread, generally being carried out only in the few permanently-settled villages, and then generally at the subsistence level. Settled Massagetes may grow wheat, barley, lentils, poppy, and various edible roots. They may also grow grasses for grazing livestock.

Hunting also provides a significant portion of the Massagete diet. Wild game is hunted from horseback with a bow, and fowl are sometimes bow-hunted on foot. Traps are used to catch small game and fowl.

Religion

The Massagetes once worshipped the spirits of nature like their distant nomadic cousins. The migration to the south, however, caused wide-ranging changes in Massagete culture; and foremost among these was transition to a new religion, which focused the worship of the Massagetes on a few nature deities, instead of the innumerable spirits they had once revered. The Massagete pantheon is small compared to those of other faiths. Whereas the religions of more settled nations were largely matriarchal, placing much reverence in feminine fertility and harvest deities, the Massagete religion is patriarchal, focusing its worship on masculine gods who relate more closely to the lifestyle of the Massagetes -- to herding, traveling, and fighting.

Wasterzhi
Wasterzhi is the foremost of the Massagete deities. He is the King of the Gods, the Rising Sun, and the God of War. As King of the Gods, Wasterzhi is also King of the World and King of Kings; he is the patron god of the Massagete family. He watches over the Massagetes in war, providing warriors with superiority strength and courage against their enemies, so long as he is properly worshipped. Wasterzhi represents the Rising Sun -- to the Massagetes this does not mean only the Sun as it rises each morning, but also the Sun as the days grow longer after the Winter Solstice. The Massagetes believe that Wasterzhi runs across the sky every day, in the form of a firy horse; on Earth he takes the form of a mounted warrior with a long beard, riding a white horse. The Massagetes praise Wasterzhi every morning, and pray for his return every night; an animal is burned as a sacrifice to him every Solstice, and the bodies of enemy warriors are burned as sacrifices to him after victorious battles.

Paxuson
Paxuson is the second most revered god in the Massagete pentheon. He is the Bull-God, God of the Herds, Patron of Travelers, and Thunder-God. Paxuson protects herdsmen and watches over their herds. He also protects Massagete families as they migrate. He takes the form of a great bull, both on Earth and in the heavens. His fury is responsible for storms; he creates thunder with his mighty hooves. Every year, a bull is sacrificed to Paxuson.

Simurgh
Simurgh is God of Wisdom, God of Speed, and Patron of Archers. He is all-knowing, and imparts knowledge -- of the land, of riding, of warfare, and so on -- to the Massagetes. He grants fleetness of foot and speed on horseback to those who worship him. He watches over archers in combat, and makes their arrows fly true. On Earth and in heaven he takes the form of a great bird, who can see all below him. Prayers are sung to Simurgh for guidance, and warriors or hunters may sing to him for speed. Every year a competition is held amongst the Massagetes, in which the finest bowmen in the country competet in contests of skill in Simurgh's honor.

Ekwona
Ekwona is the most important goddess in the Massagete pantheon. She is the Mother Goddess, the Goddess of Fertility, the Goddess of Sexuality, the Goddess of Wealth, the Goddess of Healing, and the Horse-Goddess. She watches over pregnant women and mothers, and makes the Earth fertile. She regenerates plants, and heals wounds. She is responsible for both male and female sexuality; she is the heavenly consort of Wasterzhi. Her guidance or intervention can bring men great wealth -- in horses, livestock, and marriage. In heaven she takes the form of a white mare, while on Earth her avatar is either that of the white mare or of an incredibly beautiful young woman. Various sacrifices and prayers are offered to Ekwona. Women invoke Ekwona when giving birth; the injured pray to Ekwona for recovery. Settled Massagetes hold a festival in her honor at harvest time.

OOC: I'm not city states. I'm a Centrilized Despotism. Highly centrilized. Thankyou.
P.S. You deleted my ruler dynesty name.. so:
Ruler: Saduir of the Mauras denesty

Rasit
The beginning of the city was long ago.. A growing trade center that have begun to overpower central mesopotamia trade system. The city of Rasit rised side to side with trade and diplomacy. Without the ability of the Mauris kings to talk and turn others into closer allies by diplomacy the city of Rasit would most likely would not have exist. Still Rasit have risen out of the ground and became a rich city-state that had many vassal city-states under it's contorl. Yet not too long ago the Mauris understood that such a loose contorl over their empire is no good and begun to increase their miliatry and tighten their control over the other vassal city-states.

Several years ago the Mauris finished the centrilizing efforts. All city states were fully integraded into their empire either directly under the king or under a relative from the ing family. For example the city of Ninveh, ones the proud house for the kings of warmongering Assyria, is now under the control of Prince Asusar son of Saudir. Now the country was fully centrilized and strongly controlled all the other cities in the empire. Rasitian citizenship was given to rich families in other cities (so they would shut up) and to families that helped war efforts and centrilizing efforts. Economic citizenship (one that gave only economic reliefes on none-citizens) was also given among the richer cities... Rasit was on the quick way to a 1 ruler country. A true despotism to rule the vast empire. Yet a thorn in the side of the empire rose to the south. The Sipparians became a strong force that stopped Rasit. King Saduir knew peace could not be done with this people. They were in the way for Rasit rise and this could not be allowed. And so Rasit joined the ongoing Babylonian-Sipparian war against Sippar (thought not with Babylon) as it's armies crossed the border and begun taking over cities.

The war was rather longer than expected... It took many years for the Rasitian armies to finish this war, but in the end it was done. Ones and for all Northern mesopotamia was under the full influence of Rasit. It wasn't too long until the bad influence of Babylon also begun to enter Rasit...

Babylon somewhat less centrilized than Sapir. A Monarchy where the king ruled his empire and the rich ruled the people owing their lives to the king. Usualy the King granted them lands for their loyality. Babylon was much more free to the common man and citizen unlike Rasit and this was bad news for Saudir, who looked to keep his empire stable. Rumors of the Babylonian culture entered Rasit like wild-fires, spreading throught the just-conquered Sippar and eastern Sipar. Babylon was a cultural threat upon Rasit and so Saduir knew somhow this must be dealt with. Maybe a deal with Babylon could be drawned so they will promise not to influence Rasit in any other way but trade while Rasit will allow Babylon to freely occupy and claim Sippar capital. Rasit armies were larger (much larger) than the Babylonian ones and so Saduir expected Babylon to agree. The last thing he needed is a war against the overstreched Babylonian empire, why would he wish Rasit the same fate as Pontus or Sippar?

to Babylon:
We offer your this. We will allow you to conquer and claim the capital of Sippar and you will promise to not support any Babylonian influence into Rasit. Only trade we shall have. Also I wish to ask if you got any doughters(sp?) to marry with my son, Asusar ruler of Ninveh. This could streghen ties within our empires and bring us much closer to each other.
