Suggestions and requests

I think there was a market replacement in one Khazar civ.

Yes, it´s from RFC Classical World; the Yarqab Mint, with one free merchant.

Synagogues are built in the whole world, not really an unique building.

You are right but I think that Judaism as their state religion is a big part in what makes them so unique, so in my opinion there should be some representation of that...

Maybe as a part of their unhistorical UHV condition they could be asked to retrieve Jerusalem from arab hands :crazyeye:

This was actually one of their goals. They viewed themselves as the protectors of the Jewish faith, and wanted to free Jews from Muslim oppression (specifically in Persia and the Levant). Maybe the 4% goal could require Jerusalem/Levant as well, and could be pushed back to 900 AD?

Also, I like the bonus of the Yarqab Mint, accurately represents the Khazars as the nexus of trade that it was. I don't know anything about the building itself, however, and looking it up on Google yields no results.

Wouldn't the inclusion of a Khazar civilization require the Russian spawn to be moved to a later date?

You guys do know that Kiev Rus was a lot more important and makes more sense to include in the game?

I'm not sure. When is the Russian spawn? I don't have my gaming computer with me, so I can't check such things. I was thinking it was 980 AD, though, but now I'm second-guessing myself.

I thought it was in the 700s. Khazars would spawn in 618.

Russians don't spawn in 700s for sure. I think it's 860.

If they represent the Kievan Rus' in its early years maybe they should start at Kiev and later move the capital to Moscow?

I think it would be a good idea to integrate tech diffusion like you can see it in the civ 4 mod legends of revolution since it brings a lot more realism to the game.

Tech diffusion is already represented by tech trading, and I prefer a proactive game mechanic to an automatic one.

Tech gets cheaper anyway (down to the ridiculous cost of 1 beaker) if you are teching really slowly. I recently discovered that when playing as the Aztecs (skipped Liberalism because it had no use and it costed 1 beaker by 1860 AD).

From the DoC challenge thread:

There is a good reason that no one has played Japan or Prussia yet. The "Be the first to finish the Tech tree" goal is booooooooriiiiiiiiiiing. Moreover, it involves preventing other civs from winning Space Race. Nuking everyone into oblivion so you can finish the Tech tree first in 1980 isn't exactly fun IMO.

I suggest alternative UHVs. Such as:

(1) Be the first to enter the Future Era

(2) Prussia: Be the first to discover Combustion, Fission, and Rocketry.

(3) Japan: Be the first to discover Ecology, Robotics, and Fiber Optics.

(4) Japan: Be the first to adopt Environmentalism.

Leaders should be more willing to accept "Stop Trading with... " proposals when provided with sufficient bribes.

Currently, "Stop Trading with... " is usually presented in red text (cannot be proposed). IMO most of them should be changed into white text (can be proposed).

This would allow more opportunities for trade wars.

Yeah, I brought this up before, the AI refuse Going to war, Giving city, and Stop Trading with way too easily.

I agree, finish the tech tree is way too far into the game to be fun.
I like the third suggestion, since Japan really kind of did have a golden age when those were coming into life.
As for Prussia, I think a submarine goal would be best.

Would it not make more sense for the Mongols to have the Persian UP since the Mongols are supposed to conquer more cities than most other civs?

Prussia could also have:

3. Never build a Nuclear Power Plant, have Coal Plants in every city and cause severe global warming on x tiles by 2020

I don't get it.
