I wish to begin the issue of World News'
Year in Quarters with a message to all our readers to remember those lost in the recent Baltic Conflict. War is always unpleasant but this is one of the first major armed conflicts in many years. I wish well to the people of Sweden that living under Russian law will bring about peace and stability in the region.

North American Borders Questioned
Some people living in the southern parts of the Cascadia region of Canada are questioning why they should feel more loyalty to a drainage basin or mountain range as opposed to the nation that had once existed in the place they now occupy. In Oregon several communities have banded together and formed a local militia declaring themselves outside of the jurisdiction of the Canadian government.
Leader of the militia had the following to say "Those Canucks have this idea that human borders should reflect these bioregions, that only what is natural and under our feet should be used to divide up the land. I don't subscribe to that view though - these Canadian borders are just as imaginary as the borders of our past. Just because they follow a river or a mountain range does not mean they are somehow inherently better as borders. I for one feel more loyalty to the State of Oregon and the Union of States which once governed this land than I ever will to Canadian ecological imperialism."
Though the militia group has proceeded to arm themselves they have yet to openly rebel against Canadian authority. Instead they have chosen to seek democratic representation as the Oregon Unionist Party.
Bushranger Crisis Continues
Prominent Australian Politician Lex Luthor, known to sit on the right of the Liberal party and currently serving as Minister of Justice, has called for a crackdown on criminal activities in Australia. A large police operation was conducted in the areas where the government maintains large amounts of control - the cities and the coast. The government has regain control of the key industrial areas and population centres however the Bushrangers have just retreated deeper into the bush and the islands off the coast on which the government still wields no authority. Despite the material victory for the Police the battle over the hearts and minds of the Australians continues on with the romantic idea of the bushranger still holding significant sway over the ordinary folk.
Conflict Still Continues in Venezuela
The Caribbean Corporate Consortium continues to send training staff and military supplies to the Llanos Industrial League and supported by their training the League has managed to make its first significant victory. A successful raid on the Mérida convoy was carried out striking hard at the slowest parts of the city and leaving it at a standstill. Mérida, fearing another attack, left behind the large factories which had lost their mobility in the raid. The town moved off back towards the bay and away from the mountain territories held by the Llanos raiders. Descending from the hills to scavenge in the wreckage the Llanos raiders were happy to find that one of the elements of the convoy that had to be left behind was a large reserve of fuel which has now been returned through the mountain passes to fuel the mobilised economy of Llanos. The leader of that particular raid was the Caribbean backed
Antonio José Morillo and now holding a large amount of the fuel that is vital to the Llanos way of life he has become an influential presence in the Llanos political scene.

Brazilian Economic Ministers favour the Caribbean
The Brazilian minister for the economy, when asked to formulate a plan for the economic development of the nation has suggested that directing Brazilian trade through the new port of Santiago would be of mutual benefit for both the Brazilian and Caribbean peoples. Though the nation would become economically dependent on the Caribbean trade it would definitely boost the short term private sector investment to pursue closer ties with Santiago.
Stockholm Annexed By Russia
The Swedish people called for aid but there was no aid to be had. Despite pleas to other governments and attempted negotiation with the Russians the nation of Stockholm has been annexed into the Russian Empire after a short and brutal war. The Swedish did not have time to react as the significantly more powerful Russian army marched into their territory.
Upon reaching the headquarters of the nation's AI governance system the Russians deactivated the AI and it was packaged away to a secure Russian facility. The area is being integrated into Russia and though the people of the area are not too happy about the change in administration there has yet to be any organised resistance.
The lack of other nations to intervene despite the pleas of the Swedish government have caused some other nations to worry that the great powers of Europe no longer care about issues of sovereignty or self determination.

Mob Attacks in Calais
Anti-mutant fervour in the north of France recently reached new heights as a Frenchwoman called Arlette Desrosiers from across the border in Calais called upon all loyal humans to rise up and expel the mutant threat from France's shores. A mob quickly formed about the woman, a girl of just 15, and two local mutants are known to have been killed by the mob in the first day of the violence. Since then the small town of Bapaume where the mob originated has been overrun by the anti-mutant mob. We expect the French and Agontrov governments to make statements on this in the next couple of days as the Agontrov try to take control of the situation which is rapidly spiralling out of hand.
