SW3 - we are NINJA

SW - post 1 says mass regicide is on, post 16 says regicide :

i decided on regicide on moral grounds. we follow a certain code. we are NINJA!! and as such go for small, well guarded targets.

Admiral Kutzov said:
Only five AI or are 2 hidden?

only 5 AI on this one, as i didnt want the gerries or spain to pop out into our asian kettle.
if the team wants to i can reroll with all 7 AI, or even all random.

Admiral Kutzov said:
If a single AI attacks us, when do we have to make peace?
interesting point. how about we can do whatever is needed to survive. if at all possible - we should get an alliance against them asap. if not possible - we are fighting for survival, and as such, a ninja will show no mercy = they will be crushed. leaving them a 1cc is ok, as it will spread the word that you simply dont mess with us ninja.

IMHO, the king should be renamed on turn one (Elvis, Buddy, Scorpion, Kong, Ralph are my suggestions). Will make the opening logs more interesting.

how about :king: GEEDORAH? :king: TUBBY? :king: CRIMSON?

I like starts 4, followed by 3, followed by 2.

And for our King's name...King Dome... :mischief:

Or Kong.

And if my turn comes up before Saturday (won't be on the rest of the week, most likely), you can skip me and I'll play on the weekend.

What I'm not a King!!! At most I'm a prince but more likely a governah

I'm fine with what you've rolled. Sounds like 4 is our start.

As for starting moves:
Settler NW to hill
Worker W to mine BG then road repeat with other bg
King to goody hut (does it qualify as a military unit?)

start building barracks? - research Pottery @ max

If you felt obligated to add 2, you could specify the arabs and Ottomans/Persians/Babs.

Agree with settler to hill, although in place would be fine too, as long as you pop the hut first. Worker SW to mine the BG first, also getting benefit of learning more about the water first. King to GH.

If you settle in place, the city would pop the hut.

The reason why I said worker W was to mine the bg on the river for extra commerce.

here are the first 20.
enjoy the view lads....

4000 - move king onto hill, find lake and silks near by. worker moves SW to mine BG, settler to the hilltop.
3950 - Kyoto built. start warrior. king goes NE exploring. go for POT @ 90% in 14.
3850 - pop a hut, and get a settler!!! it goes E, to avoid those jungles.
3750 - Kyoto warrior > warrior. it goes SE exploring
3650 - mine finished. start road.
3550 - Kyoto warrior > warrior. stays near by to guard worker from hut pop.
3500 - the hut gives us maps, couldnt really hope for another settler, could i? we also have blue border NE of Osaka (korea)
3450 - POTTERY in > WC still @ 90, due in 12. start granary in Kyoto. 3rd warrior out, move it to Osake for MP duty and border patrol.
3300 - spot IVORY due SE.
3250 - Osaka worker > barracks.
3200 - worker roads S of osaka.
3100 - Osaka warrior moved to mountaintop, for better view.
3050 - worker mines S of Osaka. King pops a barb hut.
3000 - we get a veteran king and a vet warrior. we also spot DYES far to the NNW.

mispressed the ENTER, but no moves in 2950.

summary

we get WC in 2 turns, @ 70% +3gpt. 14g in the bank.
Koreans are happiest. we are saddest :D
we have a worker that has just moved onto silks to road them.
terrain is FABULOUS. NW and S are lots of plains and forests.
we have 2 workers and 3 warriors.
Koreans have BW and ALPHA, and would be insulted by our offer.
our shogun is NW but safe. keep it home or keep exploring?
i think we should concentrate our expansion to the south, and included a tentative dot map.

all in all, a great start IMHO.

On the dot map, I'd move the NW dot to the hill. That way you could get the wheat in the city. It's still coastal and on the river but the wheat and defense of the hill would be better.

I'd also move the jumbo city onto the jungle to the W. then you have room for a city near the flood plains.

Anyone else get the feeling that AEnigma kinda, sorta, maybe, oh I don't know...forgot about us? According to his profile, he's been on today, but he hasn't even posted a got it...maybe you should PM him, soul_warrior?

And looking at the save, Kyoto will riot next turn if something's not done to stop it. And are we sure we need to be building a Barracks in Osaka already? Research can be turned down to 50%, with +5 gpt.

And I agree with Tubby's first suggestion, but that's a forest next to the Ivory dot...not a jungle...

lurker's comment: Little Grasshoppah lurker says...
What a riot Grand Masters Sans!!! I would be interested to fill in if needed but I'm out of town Wed.-Sun next week. :(

Oh I didn't realize that it was a forest. then nevermind about that second suggestion.

I think that IP should go ahead and go. Still send AEnigma a PM but skip this time.

Sorry guys. I totally forgot I signed up for this.

It's cool if IP plays. I'll check when I wake up in the morning. If I don't see anything, then I'll play my turns. Otherwise, it's cool.

Once again, sorry guys.

Yeah, I had a feeling that's what happened. ;)

You can go before me though, AEnigma. My turn just came up in another SG, and I'm gonna be gone later today, so it would be quicker if you went.

Alrighty.

T0 2950 BC
Upped lux to prevent unhappiness. Will need MP there.

Exploring westward. Barbs can't catch up to me!

T1 2900 BC
See gems also. Damn. We need some hardcore settlers to grab all the lx.

T2 2850 BC
WC done.
Kyoto is a huge production city. Building barracks with it, then get some kinda offensive unit/settler action.
Also see teal borders.
No horses in sight!
Researching HBR.

T3 2800
Checking Trade...
Korea is obviously going for WC. Only giving us 14 gold for it (he has 20 gold in bank)
Biting bullet: Going for GH... Map. Better than nothing.
We have a pretty good starting point guys. Some floods nearby, one with WHEAT on it. If we connect cities properly, we should be able to get some forests in (or even a spot with forest and deer). Then we'll have a hardcore Settler Farm... :D But since we're religious too, we can just build some cheap temples.

T4 2750 BC
zzzzz...

T5 2710 BC
Get in Chinese Territory. Lots to trade for... (damn, still don't see horses...)
Can sell the Wheel for Bronze Working and 4 gold. Why not.
So:

Korea is up Alpha, down CB
Chinese is up Masonry, down CB, Pottery.

IBT
Chinese asks our warrior to move out. I'll wait a bit.

T6 2670 BC
Yay, silks connected.
See mongol scout.
We're even in tech.

T7 2630 BC
zzzzz....

IBT
Chinese auto moved us. Now he's annoyed...

T8
See Russians.
They're up Masonry.
Can trade CB and Pottery for Masonry to Chinese.
May be able to get Alpha for it.
Hm....
I'll wait till end of Turn before deciding.
Chinese auto boot us to other side of his territory. Woot!
Warrior kills barb. Trumpets sound for promotion to elite!
Okay... Trade or not... I think I will. A few other civs have CB and Pottery, might as well get what we can...
Korea still won't give up Alpha

T9
Russia got Mysticism. Prolly gunning for Monarchy.
Can sell Masonry to Mongols. 10 gold? Nah....
Settler built.

T10 2470 BC
Nothing much.

We need to get a decent dot map going. Start thinking about possible settler farm.

Will toss up screenshots later in the day.

Pre-turn – Everything looks good…

2430 (1) – Kyoto warrior->warrior. The first thing I do is change Preferences…then, I send the settler towards that hill on the coast. See barb, so send newly formed warrior in that direction, as well.

2390 (2) – Mongols now have Iron Working…but they won’t trade. Move more units…

2350 (3) – Kyoto worker->settler (due in 6, but Kyoto will grow next turn). Osaka warrior->worker. Everyone except Korea now has IW, China and Russia also have Myst. STILL no one will trade.

2310 (4) – Settler now due in 4, but Kyoto won’t grow for 5 turns, so switch to Archer (otherwise Kyoto would go down to size 1). Build Tokyo on hill ->worker. Raise research to 70%, HBR in 4, +1 gpt. Spot a goody hut with an exploring warrior.

2270 (5) – zzz.

2230 (6) – Kyoto Archer->Settler. Now everyone has IW. Only Korea will trade with us, and he wants Masonry and CB. I think I’ll wait 2 turns for HBR. We get barbs from the goody hut.

IBT - See a Korean spear/settler pair come SW towards us. None of the barbs attack.

2190 (7) – Nothing, except I just noticed an Elite Chinese warrior standing on the mountain SE of Osaka…think he’s just exploring, though.

IBT – Warrior is attacked by a barb, but survives with 1hp.

2150 (8) – HBR->Alphabet (I’ll change if I can get it in trades this turn). The only other options we had were IW (and everyone already has that), or Myst. (two others have that). Only Korea has Alphabet. Osaka worker->Archer.

Now for the trades. China will give us IW, Myst, and 29 gold, just for HBR. Russia is asking for HBR, 1 gpt, and 38 gold just for IW. How exactly does that work?
Korea will give us Alpha and 20 gold for HBR and Masonry. Take the Chinese offer, and thankfully Korea is still offering the same. We now have technology superiority.
China: down Alpha (52 gold).
Korea: down CB (0 gold).
Russia: down Alpha and HBR (also has 52 gold).
Mongols: down Masonry, Alpha, Myst, and HBR (plus 10 gold).

Start on Writing @ 100%, due in 16, -3 gpt.

2110 (9) – Writing now due in 13 turns, -3gpt. Settler due next turn in Kyoto.

2070 (10) – Kyoto Settler->Archer. D’oh! Somehow, Korea and Russia are now at tech parity with us, and the Mongols are down just HBR and Alpha (China hasn’t changed).

I left the Settler in Kyoto for the next person to decide what to do with him.

I also just realized we never did name our King. I gave him a very fitting name, I think, but the next person can change it. ;)
