Trump says more guns would have saved the day. Armed guards at churches and synogagues!

We could put a barbed wire fence as well.

Pittsburgh synagogue shooting leaves 11 dead - live updates

A gunman opened fire inside a busy synagogue during a service Saturday in Pittsburgh, killing 11 people and injuring six others. The suspected gunman, identified as 46-year-old Robert Bowers, surrendered and was taken into custody.

Bowers burst into the Tree of Life Congregation and indiscriminately fired inside while shouting, "All Jews must die," police sources told CBS Pittsburgh/KDKA. He was armed with an assault rifle and at least three handguns, officials said.

Six of those injured were treated at local hospitals, KDKA reports. Four police officers were injured during the shooting. Their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Wendell Hissrich, the city's public safety director, said there was no further threat to the public. He said the shooting is being investigated as a federal hate crime. "It's a very horrific crime scene," he said in a news conference. "It's one of the worst that I've seen, and I've been on some plane crashes. It's very bad."

Tree of Life is located in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood, which is known as the heart of the local Jewish community. Gov. Tom Wolf arrived at the scene Saturday and called the attack an "absolute tragedy."

"These senseless acts of violence are not who we are as Americans," Wolf said in a statement. "My thoughts right now are focused on the victims, their families and making sure law enforcement has every resource they need."

The Justice Department said it would file hate crime charges against suspect Robert Bowers and said the charges could lead to the death penalty.

"Today 11 innocent people were suddenly and viciously murdered during religious services," said Attorney General Jeff Sessions in a statement Saturday. "These alleged crimes are reprehensible and utterly repugnant to the values of this nation."

Sessions also thanked officers who confronted the gunman, including the four officers who were wounded. "These officers ran to danger to save others, which reflects the highest traditions of policing in this country," he added. "There can be no doubt that they saved lives today."

So this is an antisemitic hate crime. Evidence so far is that he hates anyone associated with Jews.

This is why we need to support Israel.

Because the despicable behavior of the Israeli state makes Judaism seem like an appropriate target of violent hatred? That seems to be the only possible interpretation of your comment, and that makes your comment seem absolutely wrong.

Huhm? The manual states that you wait for something terrible to happen, then you politicize it to push your agenda, and then nobody can argue against you... but you just did, I don't get how that's possible. That strategy is supposed to be water-proof.

In fairness, Jews have been the targets of discrimination and violence long before 1948, and especially during the few decades leading up to the foundation of the country. Anti-semitism has been around for literally millenniums. "Antisemitism will die when Israel does" is a silly thing to say.

Ah well, good thing this was a white right-wing extremist instead of an Islamic extremist.

It's too close to an election for me to think of anything other than the electoral consequences of any mass killing.

I bet this guy's fellow travelers are saying that this shooting is just a symptom of how clever Jews are, or at least George Soros. Tricking a vulnerable white goy into shooting up a synagogue just shows how Jews are even willing to sacrifice a few of their own so that they can push things closer to their preferred outcome: liberal globalists winning a House majority and stopping Trump from scoring legislative victories.

[I almost said "non-jewish white guy" but then realized there was a bad-punny way to make it more succinct!]

Now I'm off to Stormfront to find out if my hunch is correct.
