I live in the greater Pittsburgh area about a half hour from where this happened. As you can imagine this has absolutely shocked the region. Nobody even imagined, though I suppose people always say that everywhere.
Right now I'm more concerned with what's going to happen to my favorite neighborhood in the city rather than the national political implications

Yeah, that's why bringing Israel into the conversation about Judaism is always a bad idea. It's sort of like conflating the disgusting behaviors of political evangelicals with Christianity or terrorist attacks by jihadi extremists with Islam.

Yeah, I know it just seemed a little stupid how they worded it. I just pictured in my head the police making an announcement to the effect of "Well, we are releasing the suspect as it turns out he was the wrong guy. The suspect just happened to be another old white male carrying a gun so we just assumed he was the guy. I mean, what are the chances of two of them being in the same place, right? Oh by the way, that means we still have an active shooter on the loose so watch out."
Facts are hardly an issue when political power is at stake.
