So this is all very exciting, even if we fail to win! :)
Will Madrid hold? Will our highly promoted units destroy the evil Mongolian Headquarters?
Who will Brennus attack, and will Stalin hold?

Wow! Nice way to tie up his SOD. Don't think I could ever have the nerves to do something like that. :)

Yeah, especially in OCC. One reason why I like RR, so I can move my stacks a bit quicker to respond to this type of thing.
This game has inspired me to try another OCC domination game. When I used to do it I always turned off vassals but will try one with it on.
Thanks guys.

I am completely ignorant of OCC so this is fascinating. I've thought you were doomed since turn 1 but here you are cutting into the score leader taking minimal losses. I still have no idea how a victory is impossible but I'm excited. Play more! Play more! Pangaea play more! Fippy play more! What about earliest continue date? What if earliest continue date was right now :please::w00t:

Lots to report in this story, and taking care of all battles ofc so it's slow :)
But here we go for a couple more, i present "The Longest Night" of Madrid..
Spoiler :

2-jpg.526405
..well okay, maybe it was not that dangerous ;) We lost no units here, not even Dothraki.
MGs against undead walls would have been efficient in Westeros as well.

Meanwhile, Stalin capitulated to Sury. I guess this was never really avoidable, and rather unimportant anyways with his 4 cities.

Washington, former headquarters of Genghis Kahn (barbaric horde..!), was razed under the loss of 1 cannon.
Spoiler :

Encouraged by their progress, spanish armies split off towards other targets
Spoiler :
4-jpg.526408

..some protected by mighty MGs, hopefully this stack can grow :)
And we even repaired our cow pastures again, yay.
Evil Drakelings (airships) in Portland.

Think i will have time for more tomorrow, already played a gotm today so Civ zzzZZzzz for now.
Oh i forgot, the very interesting diplo:
Spoiler :
diplo-jpg.526411
Lots of hatred, friendly between Genghis & Sury only which we can "remove" hopefully ;)

Okay, recap from yesterday's play.
I started with looking at cannon # and realized we need more.
Can we get Iron back from Sury?

Yup we can, with wealth & 100% gold slider i managed to squeeze out +45gpt.
He wanted that exact amount, i have no idea if it's coincidence or "generosity".
Also added a tech screenie, nothing of interest there. SM would obsolete Glib, not good yet, and Democracy adds nothing.
+ a pic of why we need more cannons, 21% survival only after full bombardment.

As our main stack arrives at New York, we see defenses there. Not bad, some good promos..without our CR3 super cannons this would hurt.

..but we lose nothing here, however this luck would not always hold up later :) I remember losing 2 Cavs at ~96% and several cannons (those expected).
Other pic shows how i split armies and move on several cities.

Next are pics of sneaking on "southern" cities, with an undefeatable forest MG protecting cannon movement,
progress NW, a new general meeting with our old Axe for another super medic, and satellite view with armies.

Progress south, some more battle logs, and a nasty Privateer plundering our fish pff..but Brennus had one for trade.
I also tried getting new peace deals with Sury & Brennus by begging 1g, to avoid peace vassaling - worked.
Spoiler :

12-jpg.526539
At Chicago cannon odds were bad, hill city..i waited for 1t here and tried other cities first (hoping for capitulation without Chicago).
LA was much easier, but not enuf
Spoiler :
13-jpg.526541

14-jpg.526542
..so i had to raze Chicago as well, after which he gave up.
Genghis has 2 cities left now, hopefully he uses the Settler in New Orleans :)
Nongoma has Iron & most important Coal, we should give him Steam Power and grab it for RR.
Spoiler :

15-jpg.526543
Lots of other decisions too, who to attack next? Plundering with healthy Cavs meanwhile? (should be an obvious move thou, those towns & villages give lots of gold).
Genghis has Physics, which opens up Artillery..good time to abandon Glib and take SM? Or maybe combustion for destroyers first?

Remaining army:
Spoiler :
16-jpg.526545

17-jpg.526546

19 cannons, 14 Rifles (soon Infs), 28 Cavs, 3 MGs. Which still makes us only 4th in soldiers :)

Well Catherine is weak without Replaceable Parts. She looks like a good target with 3 cities you can attack on turn 1 of a war.
You'd get enough war success for capitulation if you can hold against her stack.
Upgrade a few dudes to infantry idk :smoke:

Yep Cathy would be easy, but we basically clear territory for Brennus this way.
(who should be the strongest AI currently)

Makes this game so much fun, would we gain much by rolling over Cathy?
I actually lean towards Sury, despite friendly. He also has no Rifling yet, and like Genghis his cities are west (while Brennus is far east).

It is tough to finish this kind of game off when you can only claim a portion of the land you conquer and can only do that with vassals.

It would be very easy to unintentionally make an AI really strong.

It's been quite a few years since i played an OOC game so i have a couple of questions. I apologize if these were already addressed in the thread - I haven't had time to read most of it yet.

1) When you capture a city does it automatically raze without giving you the option to do something else with it (ie liberate it to a vassal)?

2) Is it feasible to ask your vassal to attack a city, help them kill most of the units inside, and then let them capture it?

Yeah, certainly not reliable, but it would definitely be better to let vassals have cities than to raze and let the AI resettle and get stronger.

I think you are correct to attack Sury rather than Catherine. Sury does not have OB with Brennus so he has to attack Nongoma which is a hill city. If you put your MG and 2 rifles in there i can't imagine him threatening that city at all. You could probably just declare right now and if you are lucky he will suicide his stack while you get yours into position to attack.

Also too bad you can't build settlers to gift to America.

Sooo why more breaks..i still hope for somebody to join :)
I know i can win this game now, would be much more fun with an "ally" like Pangaea before some random trolling made him take a break.
